Rustic and Close to Rt 87

We used this KOA as a two-night stop-over on our way to VT. The best way to describe this campground is “Rustic”.

It is just a few miles off of I-87 and easy to find. Check in was easy, everyone was friendly, and we were escorted to our site. We had a full hook-up site, which was spacious and semi-level. The hookups were a significant distance from the camper and we were concerned if they would reach, but they did. The restrooms/bath rooms were ok.

One thing that stood out to us was the need for overall upkeep around the sites. I like a good wooded campground as much as the next person, but there is a difference between a wooded campground and one that is in need of a good weed whacking! Overgrown brush and weeds seemed to be the norm around the campground and even around our fire pit.

The campground had a pool, mini-golf, and a playground area for kids (with a large bounce house). They are located just down the road from the town of Woodstock and other area attractions. After a day of traveling we didn’t feel like cooking or going out for dinner. The campground had listed several places that delivered and sure enough a local pizza place delivered right to our site (it was very good pizza).

Overall, the Saugerties KOA is good for an overnight layover when traveling.
