It’s all dry camping, however the views are incredible. You are steps from both the ocean and bay. A 4x4 is required. You must also purchase an outer beach permit for your vehicle. For local residents, it’s worth the purchase. It can be pricey for out-of-towners. No shower facilities. Must carry…
This trip was too short!
We really liked this location, you can see your neighbors, but each site has nice space.
It was a quick walk down to the beach.
The LI sound is definitely different from the ocean, but still nice. There was a nice little camp store, and by the beach another store and…

Had fun and peaceful
I would give this place a 5-star review based on how convenient everything was. There us a ferry 100-yards away that takes you to Wall Street M-F. There is a great market about 1/4 of a mile away, and the path that can take you to WTC or 33rd Street area is only a mile away.
However, it is…

Basicly a parking lot, but the location can't be beat. 2 ferries that run to Manhattan. Path train is a 12 minute walk away that will take you yyo manhatten. Jersey city has a lot of restaurants and bars walking distance. Wonderful state park, liberty park, a bike ride ride away. Our experience was…
Most sites are crammed in, but we lucked out by changing sites to a quieter spot. Did not let people checkin until clock struck 11, no alcohol, no hammocks, no parking near store where they sell wood, no …. List goes on.
Camping area itself is small, but park is good sized with an excellent lake and hiking.

Stayed at site 12. Sites are great overlooking the bay. Bathroom lights are bright. 10 would be better. I also like the corner sites as they are bigger. The 230-70 overlook the ocean which is great. Little pricey compared to nys parks. Electric and water is nice for pop up.
As a long islander is was a Good local experience. The state park is very well run and the facilities are clean. However there are too many loud families and the sites are too close in proximity for me. This place is great for a group/family getaway but those looking for a quiet nature retreat may…
Stayed in the family campground in a travel trailer. Longish bike ride or shortish drive to the main park. Used a fan in the trailer to block out the sound of traffic with the exception of some sports cars/ motorcycles speeding loudly.
Good campground. Good hiking, clean, close facilities and well maintained. Lake is great and only a short walk, but no swimming. Sites are open and fairly close would be only negative.
Was pleasantly surprised with this campsite ! Facilities (bathroom/showers) were clean, campsites were generously spaced, water spouts at almost every site. Was unaware there were no fire pits at the site so I would just bring your own. We made due with our charcoal grill provided at the site!…
Small campground W/ 8 spaces in the main area and 7 in an adjacent area. All spaces are level concrete With fill hookups and attached concrete patio. Power is at the far back & sewage is in the middle (left to right). A longer camper will be parked over the sewage connection. The bathhouse has…

Just give me a parking spot and some privacy and I'm good. Cheesequake has just enough space between sites and the foliage gives you the personal space you need. Facilities are fair for what the cost is, the alternative is a $160 hotel room. By the way... Rained the whole time we we're there and…
Finally after the closure during covid the campgrounds open memorial day. 7 miles of ocean and bay side beaches, historic buildings, and walking trials. Carry in carry out rules apply, don't be that person!
