Awesome camping resort. Seasonal rates are excellent. We stayed from April until October then decided to stay over winter. They have a small winter section. You'll have the entire mountain side all to yourself! Snowshoe, cross country ski. Winter campfires. Owners Mike and Sherri are great. Dumpsters, laundry with coin machine. Very remote. Windy as all get out. Elevation about 1409 feet. View of the sunrise over the entire valley are awesome. Very very cool place. Some summer residents are a bit into their music, mostly on weekends. Bring your golf cart and beer cooler 🙄. Cov… I'm not saying that word, reduced activities here but it was still awesome. Two ponds to fish in, one you can swim in, kid friendly small pool, horseshoes and huge field to hit golf balls in with 3 holes. Pet friendly. Kid friendly. Huge club house and store that was closed for the big. Arcade, grill, pool table and small store. Lp gas. Wifi is so so. Backed up to state forest land. Enjoy!!!
Even the rain couldn't ruin this weekend getaway. The spring water source is a short hike back from the campsite, relatively convenient to restock from camp. Thought I heard bears come through overnight, but may have been a lucid dream. Bear can was undisturbed in the morning. First trip to the catskills but will definitely be back!
Yes you can camp on top of the mountain. Yes you can make a cap fire. Yes you can star gaze by the views near the camp. Yes it’s amazing. It take the average hiker about an hour ish to get to camp/ledge view. This one is one of my favs.
Excellent campground. The tone of the place is set when you drive in (although we drove past it). Everyone, staff and campers are friendly respectful even the kids! Grounds are clean, kids were constantly busy and happy. You can't beat the price. Seasonal sites are extremely well kept. Owners are relatively new (about 3 years) and have lots of new upgrades and improvements on deck but seriously they don't need much
We went there to hold every rally with our camping society, the owners were outstanding helping everyone of the year rally members including sitting with us by the campfire. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The campground was clean And neatly manicured it is a lot of fun to go across the street and watch the cows that seem to have been trained to come by the fence and just enjoy interacting with humans.
There are 75 campsites here. About 20 are around the actual pond waterfront. The others are clustered closer to the ranger’s office. The north campsites are more private but walk up only. That’s where we stayed. Equipped with very large bear boxes to store your equipment and we had no problem fitting our 55L cooler in there. Also the north campsites have their own outhouses. But we walked to the public area anyway. (5min walk max) the paths are smooth and well maintained. Public Facilites were clean and warm showers were available. Nice beach area with rentable watercraft. Dog friendly except in public use space. Few trail heads in the area. Loved the staff.
Stayed at KOA in May during height of Covid . Owners did a great job in keeping safety plan in place yet allowing campers to enjoy the beautiful campground . Sunrises and sunsets are amazing there . Owners super friendly … truly enjoyed our weekend and are planning a trip back next year ..
This was my first time at Mongaup Pond and we loved it. The place was all booked and we got lucky with a cancellation at a premium site on the lake. It is such a beautiful place and so nicely done. The sites are not on top of each other and mostly separated with some kind of brush or bushes. Lots of places to hike and play. It’s was Late September so it was a little to cold to use the lake, but it didn’t matter, we had a great time. Can’t wait to go bback on the Spring.
We are full timers and took our daughter, her boyfriend and our granddaughter for a weekend camping. We had fun, plenty of activities, a big lake to fish in and a pool to relax by. Nighttime family fun as well. We worth a weekend of fun for the whole family.
