Secluded forest and waterfront setting less than 2 hours from NYC Our 160 acre site is a secluded forest getaway adjacent to the old Hucklebuck Railway bed and overlooking the Roeliff Jansen Kill.
Enjoy swimming, tubing or kayaking in the river, and hiking or mountain biking on miles and miles of trails. The Roeliff Jansen Kill is a state stocked trout stream and is perfect for fishing. Wildlife and birdlife are all around in this area.
The site is close to breweries, wineries, pick your own farms, farmers markets, historical sites, restaurants, and shopping. It is also eight miles to the nearest supermarket and three miles to the nearest general store.
We provide free firewood at the campsite and potable water is available close by. There is a cooler available if you bring your own ice and a barbecue grill available if you bring your own charcoal and fluid. Campkeepers live on the property. Upon turning on to Shields Road (dirt road), speed limit of 10 miles per hour should be observed.
Bring water shoes or old sneakers to wear if you plan on going in the river, which is a three minute walk from the campsite. The riverbed is rocky in some spots. Bring tubes if you want to float.
If the dates you want to book are not available, or if you're traveling with a larger party and need extra accommodations, be sure to check out our other site, Hucklebuck Railway Camp East!
