Here at Plateau Hame De Colquhoun our goal is to live off our land without leaving much of a carbon footprint. We have opened our land in hopes that others can come be themselves, relax, explore, learn or teach within a safe Environment!

Plateau Hame De Colquhoun is reasonably private and you can make your visit your own. Enjoy being yourself amongst the space.. 420 friendly. Located on edge of the Mesa overlooking the Rio Grande with beautiful mountains views, keep in mind this is an ongoing project and much of the land is untamed and in all its natural glory. *Snakes, other wild life included* Like the lives of pioneers before us the amenities are sparse. If you enjoy ruggedness and serene isolation with majestic views of the local mountain ranges, then this is your place to visit.

Plateau Hame de Colquhoun

Great views of Manzano Mountains, Rio Grande and Estancia Valleys are part of the attraction of this popular 8-unit site at 9200* with access to Manzano Mountain Wilderness and Hawkwatch*s raptor counting station.

Capilla Peak Campground

Manzano Mountains State Park is an excellent destination for hiking and camping. Nestled in the wooded foothills of the Manzanos, this park provides a quiet retreat and is a nice family get-away. Wildlife viewing, birding, and photography are great activities at this park.

New Canyon Campground

West of the community of Manzano. Site may have reduced or no services; be prepared for no trash service or closed/un-serviced restrooms

Sites: 38, Elevation: 7,600 large, well shaded campground (38 units + 11 picnic sites in the lower loop) is a good way into Manzano Wilderness via Red and Spruce Canyon trails on foot or horseback. Corrals and parking for horse trailers. This site is open for day use or overnight camping. No water available. PLEASE NOTE: Recreational Vehicles (RV's) longer than 22 feet are not allowed in this campground. Vehicles of this size may only park at Ox Canyon Trailhead, approximately 1.5 miles South of Red Canyon Campground.

Red Canyon Campground

The campsites are 0.9 miles off highway 14 in the historic town of Madrid and up to the mesa. Site 1 is best for RV's and taller setups as well as tents and site 2 is best for smaller vehicles and tents. The hill going to the site('s) is short, approx. 0.2 ml. Its dirt and rock and a little steep but everything from bikes, motorcycles, sedans and buses can easily navagate without bottoming out, just take it slow. It has beautiful mesa views with plenty of privacy and a newly built outhouse within 50 yards. Madrid and sister village, Cerrillos are loaded with places to explore on foot or by other means. Both towns are very rich in history, from past ocean existance to Native American civilizations, silver and gold mining to booming wartime coalmining industries, to ghost towns.

In the North valley, 10 mins away  from both Route 25 and 40 .

NO Fires, NM is under a deep drought . 

We are dog friendly , one large dog or 2-3 tiny dogs . Please clean up poop, and use a leash . No barking for hours on end. We do love dogs . 

NO Smoking , no where, go for a walk.

 No Drugs , we are Cannabis friendly . No wild party night , a couple of beers is fine .

You are in the city , in a suburban area. Close to the Rio Grande Nature Center and the River . We have a 2 acre forest behind us . Dark at night . 

We are one hour south of Santa Fe, NM. 3 hours from Taos, NM . 

2 and half hours north of T or C, NM . 4 and half hours north of Silver City , NM .

There is shopping in our area for food. Gas, close by too . Walmart is one exit away .

You are parking in parking lot , on a dead end road. You have excess to private organic gardens. Which are walled in and very  private . We have Wifi . 

We do Urban Permaculture , mostly fruit, flowers and herbs .

We provide an inside bathroom , which includes towel, soap and shampoo . There is a laundry room, we can Not let people wash sleeping bags and thick blankets . Too heavy duty , there is a laundromat , 1/2 a mile away . Bring your soap, to use. 

You can use the kitchen , Wear a mask at all times inside but not outside. There are picnic tables all over the property .
