Coronado Campground

****its actually called Coronado, not Corondado. So don’t type that into your gps**** My boyfriend and I took a 13 state journey this summer over the course of 3 weeks and this was one of my favorite campsites we stayed at. 👍🏻🏕 If you stay there I highly recommend camping in site r7 or the sites that have the little huts. The view of the Sandia mountains was absolutely incredible. There’s also a tram that will take you up the Sandia mountains that’s the longest tram in North America, 2nd longest in the world. It was beautiful. You can hike up the trails to a cabin built in the 1930s that is simply worth the hike up in the thin mountain air. 10/10 would highly recommend this site!

Beautiful view

Found this Campground to be pretty nice overall! Mainly RV's and Campers, in fact I didn't see a single tent or tent site during our stay. The Lots are fairly close together and all have a little covered picnic table area next to the drive through RV slots. Bathrooms and showers worked just fine, though my girlfriend said the womens shower would turn itself off every 30 seconds or so (the mens worked just fine).

It's about 20 minutes north of albuquerque which is nice since you're far enough away to be out of the hustle and bustle but close enough to explore the city. We went for the Hot Air Balloon Fiesta and we could see the balloons from the campgrounds early in the morning.

There's also a Bad Ass Coffee down the street which is one of my favorites!

Pretty Nice little spot

We stayed here for our annual Cub Scout camp out. We tent camped around a group site. It’s next to the Coronado Monument and the Rio Grande with an awesome view of the Sandia mountains. 

Urban campground 

This quaint campground is full of charm. We got in just before the Governor changed the rules so visitors must quarantine for 14 days so they were closing the campground to out of state campers. The sites are mostly level and each site has a covered picnic table and an artificial grass mat. The site we had, had a view of the Rio Grand (not so grand anymore) and is convenient to I 25 so getting around was easy. The bathrooms are clean but need some minor repairs, they also are not air conditioned so pick your shower/bathroom times carefully or it will feel like a sauna. I think we got a special rate because of the pandemic. Water is on one side of the pad, electricity on the other but it was not a problem when we positioned our camper. Overall a great experience

Just what we needed

This RV park is owned and operated by the Town of Bernalillo, a community about 15 miles north of Albuquerque(where we live) and is right next to Coronado State Monument, the ruins of an old Pueblo. It is right on the banks of the Rio Grande, but the river is not easily accessible from here. There are some sites that have great river views(A- D), but these sites are very small and have minimal hookups. Most of the sites here are gigantic, with lovely picnic areas. Not just a table, but a table under a fully stuccoed covering. We got a huge rainstorm the night we were there, and we sat in the shelter and watched Mother Nature's show and didn't get a drop on us. It was great. There are lots of mature trees in the area, so you'll get plenty of opportunity for shade as well.

  

We were in Site 4, one of 6 50amp pull through sites(although the camp host gets Site 1, so there are really only 5 such sites). Electric was easy to reach...water everywhere appears to be on the OTHER side of the site, so I was very glad to have my second hose on hand to reach it. There is no sewer on the sites themselves, but if you're staying there, the easily accessible dump station is included in the price.

  

The sites are blacktop and at first glance appear level, but when we actually put our levels down, we discovered there was a significant slope. Actually caused our passenger rear tires to be up in the air, which caused us to need to move around the site a little bit. Not a major deal, but I was frankly surprised.

  

The camp hosts were friendly enough, but they drive around in their golf carts quite frequently, and really seem interested in seeing what you're up to. I was grilling on my little propane grill, and they slowed down and really took a long look at what I was doing. Later, we were sitting outside(right before the rain) and again, a sloooow drive-by. Seemed a little much for a couple of 50-somethings. I'm glad they take safety seriously, but I didn't feel super welcome either.

  

But we'll go here again. It's right next to one of the best breweries in the area(Bosque Brewing) and I certainly like being able to walk to the spot. When the monument reopens, we'll be able to make a day of hiking, beer drinking and watching the scenery.

Great spot with a few oddities

Very nice RV/Tent park.  Operated by the town of Bernalillo, New Mexico. Prices range from $10.00 per night for tents and $20.00, $30.00, $35.00 per night for Rvs. Great view of the Rio Grande and Sandia Mountains. Just 15 minutes from Albuquerque. All RV sites have electric but most have electric(30 amp) and water. None have sewer hookup but there is a dump station on the property. We stay here every time we come to New Mexico. Highly recommend this campground! 

Coronado Campground 

We did a one night stand here in January. Very nice campground. Fairly quiet but remember it is in the urban area and not some rural space. But it is close to everything. 

Check in was easy and the host helpful. The sites are clean and spacious with a very nice shelter and table. 

The sites have power and water and they do have a dump station. We would stay here again. 

Did I mention there is a brewery you can walk to?

Close to town, very reasonable 

We have enjoyed our stay here  we’ve had no problems and it would be perfect if not for not having a full hookup  it is an electric and water only. But there is a dumping station  The bathrooms were clean and working properly.the shower was clean  and working properly 

Very cozy campground

Amazing view of mountains and Rio Grande. On the same road as Coronado Historical Site, which is an amazing Adobe settlement circa 1300 AD. Clean bathrooms, beautiful camping area in general.

Sheltered Tent Site

All have to say is WOW! We had an amazing view of the Sandia Mountains from our site. This was an overflow area of the park so it had no hookups but the park does have full hookups. However, the primitive sites and overflow area, IMHO, are the best and have the best views.

Stunning Views of the Sandia Mountains

The campground is beautiful! Has great rv spots, and having the little pagoda to ourselves was so fun! 
Bathrooms are nice, has lots of trails, and has good access to trashcans. 
I was bummed about the “river access” because you really have to blaze your own trail through tall brush to actually get to the river. But the views were amazing! 
My only complaint - this place NEEDS a new camp host, badly! 
When we pulled in (at Noon) the host told us we needed to sign papers and pay $8 for parking our extra car in our RV spot. He told us he would come by with the paperwork. 
Well he didnt, so we went to the check in station and knocked. No answer and it was locked. So we went to the camp host camper to knock…DISGUSTING. 
Huge piles of dog feces around the camper. It looked like the dogs were pooping inside and it was getting brushed out the door into piles around the door. Gross trailer, garbage everywhere. We knocked anyways and no answer, so we hurried away to get away from the smell. 
We went back to the check in station around 2 and again at 4:40 and still no answer. 
My advice, get a new host with a newer camper who will respect the place.
