After going around for almost 1.5 hrs from Smithville due to all the road closures, we finally got to the lake but all the campsites were out of commission to include the visitor's center and the roads were closed. We had to turn back unfortunately.

Due to countless road closures and constructions, we couldn't even get to the campground and the other campgrounds were all closed for business. Very disappointed…
If you like to boondock with your camper, this place is awesome! We stayed just one night early March and had the place to ourselves. We pull a 26’ travel trailer. Smallish parking lot right on the lake. No amenities except pit toilets. A few miles on narrow gravel roads but worth it! Sign says closed from 10:00 PM to 4:00 AM but highly unlikely anyone would ever check.
Close to Kansas City so it makes a great quick getaway. Clean, friendly, and right next to Smithville Lake. Our pick for a short trip.
This campground caters to the seasonal worker (someone working in KC area for 6-12 months). Bathrooms are clean, laundry room is new and pool is good. Sites are close together but was not a problem. Close to everything because you are in the city. Everyone here is nice and helpful.
its not tent friendly owner was a total a hole towards this bikepacker "this is a rv park im not loosing my license over a tent"
