## Overview

Bidwell Point is tucked below towering oak and pines on the shores of Norfork Lake. Lay on the beach or take the boat out for water skiing on the easily accessible waters of Norfork Lake. 

## Recreation

Lake Norfork is home to one of the best striped bass fisheries in Arkansas. Black bass fishing is at its best from September through May, and an increasingly popular sport is night fishing with lights for crappie and White bass.

## Facilities

Campers can reserve one of the waterfront sites for continuous, clear views of the lake. The family-friendly campground maintains a large swim beach and a playground.   
  
The sites have electric hookups, as does the group shelter. The group picnic shelter can fit up to 200 guests for any large occasion. 

## Natural Features

The forest-topped Ozarks are actually a heavily eroded plateau, shaped and carved by hundreds of streams over several thousand years.   
  
Norfork Lake is sourced by the North Fork River in northern Arkansas, which winds through the rugged Ozarks before filling up 22,000 acres of Norfork Lake.

Bidwell Point Park

Henderson Park is surrounded by the clear waters of Norfork Lake. Spectacular lake views and plenty of secluded coves for water sports and breezy, open stretches for sailing, make Norfork Lake a popular area for recreationists. Recreation Hiking trails in the area lead nature observers and photographers to picturesque overlooks of the Ozarks. A wide array of fresh water game fish are found in the lake, which is fed by the North Fork River and its tributaries. Bass, walleye, crappie, bream and catfish all make their home here. Facilities The campground offers 36 campsites, all with electric hookups and water available for filling holding tanks. All campsites have a picnic table and campfire ring and grill. A marina and boat ramp are on hand for easy access to water sports. Natural Features Norfork Lake covers 22,000 acres with 550 miles of shoreline. Densely wooded hills and hollows surround the lake in the Ozark Mountains. The North Fork River feeds into the lake, and beyond the dam, extends on to connect with the White River. Nearby Attractions Including Henderson Park, there are 19 developed U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ parks lining the lake for plenty of water sport opportunities. The Robinson Point National Recreation Trail and the David's Trail offer beautiful hiking opportunities and are just a short drive away. Henderson Park

## Overview

Cranfield Park is surrounded by the clear waters of Norfork Lake. It's the closest campground to the city of Mountain Home and offers plenty of pleasing views of the lake from its well-shaded river island sites. 

Norfork Lake boasts plenty of secluded coves for water sports and breezy, open stretches for sailing. Including Cranfield, there are 19 developed U.S. Army Corps of Engineers parks lining the lake for plenty of water sport opportunities. 

## Recreation

Hiking trails in the area lead nature observers and photographers to picturesque overlooks of the Ozarks. A .75-mile nature trail is accessible from the campground. 

A wide array of fresh water game fish are found in the lake, which is fed by the North Fork River and its tributaries. Bass, walleye, crappie, bream and catfish all make their home here.

## Facilities

A marina and boat ramp are on hand for easy access to water sports. The 69 campsites have electric hookups, two playgrounds and an amphitheater, among other modern conveniences. Two day-use group shelters are available for reservation.

Norfork Lake covers 22,000 acres with 550 miles of shoreline. Densely wooded hills and hollows surround the lake in the Ozark Mountains.  
  
The North Fork River feeds into the lake, and beyond the dam, extends on to connect with the White River.

The Robinson Point National Recreation Trail is a beautiful hike especially during the fall months, for views of the Ozark Mountains' changing colors through the seasons.

Drive just over five miles to visit the town of Mountain Home, considered one of the best places to live for sportsmen.

## Overview

Noblett Lake Picnic Pavilion provides a sheltered place among forests, streams and wildlife, for groups to picnic near Noblett Lake. It is a great location for birding, canoeing and boating.

#### Natural Features:

The pavilion is set in a forest of oak and pine trees, on the Salem Plateau. It is near Noblett Lake and south of the town of Willow Springs.

#### Recreation:

Noblett Lake is a popular location for boating, canoeing and fishing. Only electric trolling motors or non-motorized boats are allowed on the lake.  
  
Visitors enjoy the day-use picnic area and the Ridge Runner Trail, a 22-mile remote path that loops hikers through the scenic Ozark Mountains.

#### Facilities:

The pavilion offers seating for up to 75 people. If over 75 people, a special use permit is required; please contact Teresea Crowe at (417) 967-4194. It is equipped with electricity, tables and grills. Trash collection services are provided. There is no water available; visitors must bring their own. There is no overnight camping allowed in the area. A parking area for the pavilion and the adjacent trail is available.

Noblett Lake

## Overview

Buffalo Point is a convenient, fun-filled destination for families and adventurists of all types. It's perched along the Buffalo National River, providing exciting river sports and hiking opportunities. In peak season, a restaurant is open at the facility, serving up meals for those who want a break from preparing them. 

## Recreation

The wild river is a gathering place for a plethora of water activities. Many campers spend their days fishing, hiking, canoeing, or kayaking. Evenings are ideal for gathering next to the fire to revamp for another great day out on the river. 

## Facilities

Buffalo Point offers campsites with water, electricity and a pay phone. It's the only area in the park with a restaurant, open daily from Memorial Day to Labor Day and on weekends only from mid-April to Memorial Day Weekend and Labor Day Weekend to mid-October.

## Natural Features

The campground is set along Buffalo National River, one of the few free-flowing rivers remaining in the contiguous United States. The river runs 135 miles without dams and cuts through the Arkansas Ozarks and into the White River. The region is surrounded by droves of lush hardwood trees and grassy open meadows. 

## Nearby Attractions

Two popular attractions within the Buffalo Point Area are the Indian Rockhouse Trail and the Rush Historic District. Rush was a zinc mining community until the zinc market collapsed and the settlement was deserted. Tours about the town's history are available. Buffalo Point is the former Buffalo River State Park developed in the 1930's as project of the Civilian Conservation Corps. 

Blanchard Springs Cavern, an extraordinary living cave, is a one-hour drive from Buffalo Point.

Hercules Glades Wilderness Area is 12,413 acres of the most scenic and unique country in the Midwest. Its combination of open grassland, forested knobs, steep rocky hillsides, and narrow drainages offers unusual beauty and a measure of solitude within easy reach of wilderness lovers. The area is characterized by shallow droughty soils and limestone rock outcroppings. Eastern red cedar and oak trees are interspersed with open glades supporting native tall prairie grasses. Redbud and dogwood provide beautiful spring flowers, while smoke tree and maple put on vivid fall colors. A variety of wildlife species live within the Hercules Glades including white-tailed deer, raccoons rabbits, squirrels, turkey, quail, songbirds, lizards and snakes. Copperheads and rattlesnakes may be encountered. Roadrunners, collared lizards, tarantulas, wild hogs and black bears are some of the more uncommon wildlife residents.

Limit your party size to 10 persons. No camping within 100 feet of trails, water sources and other camps.Practice Leave No Trace outdoor ethics; Never tie stock directly to trees. No motorized or mechanized equipment allowed.

Trails: From the trailheads there is 32 miles of maintained trails which follows along open glades, forested ridgetops and Long Creek, the primary drainage of the area. Cross country hiking in other parts of the area is allowed. Key attractions along the trail include Long Creek Falls, panoramic views of the Ozarks countryside, and a variety of native communities including open limestone glades and mixed forests.

Rating: More Difficult to Most Difficult with steep terrain, stream crossings, sparsely marked trail, and elevations from 600 to 1200 feet.

Safety: No drinking water is available at parking areas or along the trail; bring what you will need, or be prepared to sterilize water you find. During temperate months, be prepared for biting insects, poison ivy and high temperatures. Be advised of hunting seasons. Avoid using the trail during excessively wet periods.
