    Overview

    This location is available on a first-come, first-served basis only. Visitors are required to physically arrive at the campground to purchase and claim a site. Once on-site, you may be able to pay for your campsite(s) by scanning a QR code using the Recreation.gov mobile app, and the Scan and Pay feature. If this option is available, you will need to first download the free Recreation.gov mobile app https://www.recreation.gov/mobile-app prior to your arrival as some remote areas have limited or no cellular service.

    Marathon Lake provides various recreational oppurtunties. This includes activities such as biking, hiking, boating, picnicking, fishing, camping, swimming, wildlife viewing, and volleyball.

    Natural Features

    Marathon Lake is a 50-acre lake located in Smith County. It got its' name from Marathon Lumber Company which closed in 1929. You will enjoy the beauty and seclusion of this quiet campground located approximately 15 miles southeast of Forest, MS and 25 miles northeast of Raleigh, MS. Marathon Recreation area is equipped with 34 camping sites (with water and electric hook-ups), boat ramp, swimming area, 2 bath houses (warm showers), picnic shelters, picnic tables and a hiking trail. The lake has been stocked with catfish, bass and crappie and is open to bream fishing. A dump station is available. The area has a volunteer Campground Host on site most of the time.

    LeFleur's Bluff provides a lush green spot in the heart of urban Jackson. In addition to camping, fishing, picnic spots, and nature trails, the 305-acre park features a nine-hole golf course and a driving range. The park is named for Louis LeFleur, a French-Canadian explorer who established a trading post on the banks of the Pearl River in the late 1700s. The City of Jackson was originally known as "LeFleur's Bluff." Today Mississippi's vibrant capital city combines the warmth and charm of its rich cultural heritage with exciting activities and attractions and contemporary lifestyles. Visitors to Jackson discover a diversity of museums, unlimited shopping and dining, and a calendar of events packed with activities to suit every mood.

    The 28 sites available for tent and RV camping are equipped with water and electrical hook-ups. The developed camping area also features a central sewage dumping station and a bathhouse with hot showers. All campsites are available for advanced reservations. Smoking is not allowed in any Mississippi government building.

    Ten shaded primitive tent sites located near the lake and within walking distance to water and showers are available. This area is ideal for scout groups.

    D'Lo Water Park is one of Mississippi's best kept secrets. With it's intriguing history, beautiful and unique topography and its myriad of recreational opportunities, D'Lo Water Park offers more than many state parks.

    If you are into canoeing, camping or other outdoor fun, D'Lo Water Park has something to offer you. Situated on the scenic Strong River, the park offers complete canoe outfitting and shuttle service.

    There are rv/camper hook-ups (lights,water,sewage), primitive camping, rental cabins, bath house, walking track, lots of picnic tables with grills and tournament softball fields.

    The park is wooded and very peaceful and the river provides excellent fishing and cool water for a nice dip on a hot summer day.

    The park is owned by the Pearl River Basin Development District, a special fund state agency.The park is operated by the Simpson County Park Commission and under the directorship of a full-time manager.
