We visited the resort over a long weekend and had an absolute blast. It really is a treat that the Root River Bike Trail System runs right along the campground. We spent most of our time exploring the trail, visiting Lanesboro and Whalen.
We frequent this park, and experienced something different this time. The park had done a controlled burn through a lot of the grounds right before we arrived. It gave an apocalyptic feel, but didn’t detract too much from the great weekend. The hiking here is awesome! 6 is the best cart-in spot, as…
What a wonderful campground! Bathrooms and showers are very clean!! We set up our tent right by a beautiful river. Paid around $23
I have camped here a few times and fished here often.
The campground is actually just the parking lot with a few makeshift fire rings available. There is a port-a-potty available most of the year (but not winter). A couple sites are very close to the stream, which is wonderful to have the flowing…

Overall a very nice and quiet park. Sites in the tent portion vary greatly in size and privacy. We stayed in site 30 which was very small, not enough room to pull a car into the site. It was also VERY close to several other sites. If you are looking for more privacy, I would suggest a site like 34.…
Hiking trails were difficult but offered amazing views. Sites were spacious and spaced out.
We booked a spot for our RV because we wanted to explore the Decorah,IA area and it’s abundant set of activities. The campground is more on the rustic side but they have a nice clean shower house, very well kept grounds and a ton of space to spread out. The lower campground is right next to the…
Spent 2 nights here. Not so crowded during the week. In newer area of campground, very clean and nice bathhouse, camp sites don’t have as much shade here, but will as trees grow. Throughly enjoyed the hike along the Dakota trail.
During the week- Sunday-Friday campground closed. Beautiful park though!
One of the most amazing parks in the state! With its fun but difficult hiking trails and beautiful rivers to fish from you might be lucky to catch a rainbow or brook trout but be ready to go very early or near dusk if you hope to land a bite. For those who enjoy wildlife and nature I highly…

Enjoyed a difficult but fun hike, went fishing, and camped out in group site 3 which is the one with the most shade. Keep watch on the ground to not accidentally step on a snake. They do have Timber Rattlesnake but they are so rare I didn't see one. Mostly water snakes, one was sleeping in the…

Last minute call and they had opening for us. Great camp site, wonderful bar and food. There is also an outdoor bar area w yummy slushy drinks and games. The pool was fun. We will be back.
As expected, bugs are an issue in this woodsy campground. Bathrooms had several issues but they were being addressed as we were there (ie broken sink). There's some hiking trails and nice overlook of the Mississippi River. Longish gravel road to get there, no sign of camp host.
Great spot. A little tight in some sites, but all good. Not all sites have electric.
Good time! It rained and was a little muddy, but it was nice. Site 11 is kind of small for a large tent like we have. The group sites are close by and they were quite loud, but the rest of the park was nice and quiet. There is horse camping here, and the lake is nice for swimming.
