Rustic and away from the main highway

This is a bit out of the way but it’s a nice, small rustic campground. The sites are medium size but give you privacy from others. A vault toilet and water pump are centrally located. Recycling and garbage bins are near the exit.

Follow the .9 mile trail along the river or drive over to Lake…

Great campground

Spacious, beautiful overlook of Lake superior. The wind off the lake is chilly so bring layers. Firewood is $7, Firestarter are $5. Ppl very friendly and after 10 pm it is quiet. 10/10 would come again

Huge park, very family friendly campground for Memorial Day

We chose this campground out of the three in the state park here for it's quiet and privacy.  Site 210 (non electric) in Old Logging Trail was quite private and shaded, although we were not able to get our squaredrop camper or truck very far off the road due to placement of the gravel pad. Tenters…

  • Lodge Visitor Center was open for main room and plumbed restrooms, but the interpretive center is still closed this spring as Of May 30th (2021) for construction.
  • site 210 from the far site towards the gravel pad. Orange tent is neighbor.

Great Views and Kid friendly

Burlington Bay Campground was clean. The shower house by the playground was clean and new. The playground seemed fairly new and the kids loved playing on it. Walking on the beach lead to a nice City trail. The kids loved climbing all over the rock formations and finding new rocks.

The sites…

Just ok

Pulled over here for a quick stay. It is close to the freeway is about it. Not really what I would be looking for, for an extended stay. It was fine for an easy come and go. Facilities were clean.

Nice and quiet.

Wanoka is a quiet campground just off the Hwy 2. It has a nice little trout pond and is a good place to teach the younger kids fishing skills. It is however not ideal for young ones who like to play as there is no playground.

Rustic on the River - Totally in the Wild

A surprise little treasure! Came across this campground when looking for hiking trails in Huntersville State Forest, West of Backus/Pine River.

This is a rustic campground in the middle of the woods on the Crow Wing River. Very small. Vaulted toilets, and an artesian water pump. Very secluded and…

  • Public kayak or canoe access.
  • Secluded, wooded sites throughout the campground.
  • Had an awesome sit by the river for some bird watching!

Relaxing

As usual Top o The Morn did not disappoint. Owners are very accommodating and personable. They are very busy working and updating cabins. If you are looking for the true up north Wisconsin getaway this is the spot!

Great Campground

I spent the weekend at This camp ground and loved every moment. It was early April so quiet with only a only a couple others staying here. Hiking and Bike trails right there. Drove around the park and so much to see and experience! Highly recommend!!

North Shore Lake Superior

Any time on the North Shore is a great time! A lot to do and see. Clean restrooms and showers. The sites are a little close and not much privacy, but the view is awesome.

First solo experience

This was my first solo tent camping night in June 5, 2020. There were some horse flies when I parked but they didn't seem to hang out in the shade of my campsite. There was a very loud bird making calls until about 1am... Maybe a whip-poor-will. Otherwise a serene spot tucked back in the walk in…

Mixed experience

Our stay was okay. Office and store was clean and well cared for. Check in was smooth and we were shown to our sites. We were spending the weekend with friends and the campground was very accommodating.

Campground was very dark in the area of campsites which made setting up a bit difficult. Our…

Where RV’s and Boats are Neighbors

The entrance to the marina & campground is a little rough and could use some attention. Camp office & store and restrooms could also use some fresh-ing up as well. Staff was friendly and helpful.

If you like being next to the water in your RV you would be hard pressed to find an RV site…

Interesting Hike, Views

We visited on a surprise warm day in November - wanted to get in a good hike! This park boasts a waterfall, so that sold me.

Park is close to Sandstone for any last minute needs.

  • Campground is off and a bit sequestered from the rest of the hiking and kayaking, which is nice. We didn’t drive…
