## Overview

 Reservations to all Chippewa National Forest Campgrounds can be made six months in advance. Stony Point is located on beautiful Leech Lake, in the heart of Minnesota\'s Chippewa National Forest. Visitors enjoy the area for its boating, canoeing, fishing and birding opportunities.
## Recreation

 Boating and fishing are very popular activities enjoyed by visitors to the campground. Anglers will find walleye, perch, bass, northern pike and muskie, where every cast has the potential to yield a trophy-sized catch. A boat ramp and dock are located within the campground. Miles of scenic hiking trails meander around Leech Lake, including the Paul Bunyon State Trail, Heartland Trail, Soo Line Trail and North Country National Scenic Trail.
## Facilities

 The campground offers sites with 30 amp electric hookups, and one walk-to tent site without electric hookups. Flush and vault toilets, showers, drinking water and a dump station are provided.
## Natural Features

 The campground is situated on the banks of Leech Lake in an open, grassy area, surrounded by an old growth forest of oak, elm, maple and ash trees. Some trees are over 200 years old. Leech Lake is the third-largest lake in Minnesota at more than 112,000 acres, with nearly 200 miles of shoreline. Campers commonly hear the telltale call of loons on the water. 
## Nearby Attractions

 The very popular tourist town of Walker, Minnesota is located approximately 14 miles west of the campground, with a variety of restaurants, shops and festivals available there throughout the year.

Stony Point

Stayed here for a night on our way to Michigan. Well kept up and clean. Bring mosquito reppelent! Seems like mostly fishermen and the lake looked very nice but did not have time to enjoy it

Beautiful campground with spacious, wooded sites. We camped here with our sons 9 &amp; 11 and there wasn’t a minute of the day they weren’t exploring! The small, sandy beach is clean and provides a large swimming area. The boat ramp is convenient and easy to use, also free. There’s a tie up point right at the campground that has room for 4 boats. The rock jetty provides an area for shore fishing.  Great fishing on Leech Lake. Showers and bathrooms (flushable ones) were the cleanest I have seen in a federal campground. Only reason I have I four stars was because we were plagued by biting flies. It became unbearable at times so we would go to the town of Walker and walk around to escape the insects. We had no luck with any one spray that worked to keep them away. However, can’t wait to go back. 

Great setting for fishing & camping

Amazing campground. Stayed here twice this past summer. Bathrooms and showers were kept clean. Campsites are spacious. Some sites are first come first serve and about 10 or so by the water you can reserve. Beach is very nice and sandy also. Kids were always exploring. There are two different locations within walking distance to beach your boat overnight within the campsite. Will definitely be going back!
