The first review nailed it! Me and my daughter stayed one night in a tent! The car noise was bad ! I would stay there again in a pinch because the beach that is just on the north side of the marina is still one of our favorite spots on the lake! If you do stay get some firewood and plan on staying up until the traffic slows down .
On our way up to Grand Marais we made a pit stop at the Knife River Campground to snag some pictures for our family to decide if this is where they want to stay for our family trip in a few weeks.
At first glance this campground looks super tiny and kind of sloppy. Its right off of the Scenic Byway just outside of Duluth and before you get to Two Harbors. Being in this location makes it a convenient campground for a weekend getaway to Duluth. There’s a little small candy shop that makes handmade candies right next to the campground itself and a few restaurants around there as well. The campground itself provides Wi-Fi and electric for its guests.
As we drove into the campground we saw some big RV is parked just off the parking lot next to the office and thought at first that this was not even something that we would want to consider. As we drove further in it was a small loop of sites that were electric sites and super close together.
This campground is convenient for this location however the sites were not anything that I would be interested in staying at and the sound from the road that was about 200 feet from the campsites was extremely loud.
