I think this campground is best for campers. I was not thrilled with this in a tent.
This is our favorite campground of all places. The views of the island and bridge are amazing you will not find a better place near the bridge for these amazing views. Our kids love the park and activities. Great rates and great sites!!
Very nice people. Close to Mackinaw City.
Bridge view! Beach front! Great with kids! Very clean!
Would never stay anywhere else near Mackinaw! This campground is where we stay every year!
We stayed four nights there the beginning of August. There are 600 sites as well as cabins. Our group had bridge view sites as well as behind the row of bridge view sites. Bridge ones were small but they did a great job of planting cedars to divide each site for privacy. Our lot was big as we were behind everybody else. Huge common area by the water that was perfect to lay in a hammock and read. Beach was a little mucky so we swap out in front of our sites where there were rocks, but it was nice. Very well run establishment with a terrific camp store. My only complaint is they won’t give out a map with site numbers or cabin numbers on it. You have to walk around and figure out what sites you want to reserve if you want to return.
Beautiful long lakefront area lined with fire pits and benches. Large park, small sites, lots of people, one large restroom. Clean and organized. Close to Mackinaw city and ferry ⛴ to island.
Very large campground. Friendly
Easy to get to off of 75.
Lots are narrow so make sure you have enough room if you have slideouts.
There are a variety of sites available at this campground, inland and beach side, basic to full hook-up. Cottages/cabins are also available. Check-in is like going to a theme park, with walk-up windows. Some amenities include: camp store, arcade/game room, heated pool, beach, large playgrounds, and Wi-Fi. There's also a free shuttle to catch the ferry to the island. I took away a star because the showers are terrible. The water is cold and they are push-button or pull-cord surf-type showers, with only shower curtains to separate you from others, and they are part of the regular bathroom, not nice separate stalls. There isn't enough room for changing or keeping your change of clothing dry, so you may want to get a full hook-up if you plan to stay more than a night or two just to get a hot shower. Go a few miles further and check out the Mill Creek Discovery Park for some local history and a fun little zip line with the kids.
Very big place they claim 600 sites and I counted 5 restrooms and only 2 restrooms had flush toilets for 600 sites that's crazy. The bathrooms were always busy. The amenities were great pool, free mini golf, basketball courts, playgrounds, numerous beaches on the lake. But sites are very small and crowded RVs backed a couple feet from our tent with A/C running all night that was nice. Can't really ride your bikes through the campground too much traffic. And the electric sites only accommodate RVs they make you purchase an adapter to use for tents crazy! And we bought a Shepler's ferry pass for the weekend and when we called to get a shuttle they said they can't get into the campground Mill Creek doesn't allow them in there because they own the Star Line ferry so we had to walk from our sites to the front gate to get on our shuttle which is a pain after walking the island the entire day. Seems a little petty and cheap but understandable I guess. When I go camping I go to get away from people not pack into a small area with a lot of people. I mean it has numerous things to do and you can rent bikes but too many people here for sure.
