Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping features cabins and sites for all types of campers. From modest supersaver sites (for those on a budget) up to large RV sites (sewer, water & 50 amp electric), Mill Creek campground has it all. From beautiful basic cabins, up to 3-bedroom, 2-story loft cabins with bathrooms. Over 200 acres of woods and a mile of shoreline, viewing the Straits of Mackinac and the Mackinac Bridge. Voted one of Michigan's top family friendly destinations by the Detroit News. A favorite vacation spot for thousands of summer visitors to the Mackinaw area for over 50 years!
We have stayed here for years, both camping, and in the cabins, typically in the fall. We enjoy the less busy fall time and seeing the trees change. But this summer we stayed in August and it was packed. Even so, the campground was clean and orderly. We will be back again, just not sure in the summer. Great views of the bridge and fireworks.
The check-in is very streamlined. The campground is vey big and spread out. The spaces are medium small to very small. There is very little wasted space. The spaces by the lake are really neat but those are the super small spaces. They have a terrific view of the bridge. Hit and miss shade. The full hook ups are modern and accessible, although you may want to make sure you have a sewer hose extension. 50A service is available. The pool is decent, and there is a pretty well stocked, sizable store. Putt putt golf and a basketball court. You can catch a free shuttle to the Star Line ferry that goes to Mackinaw Is.
About that…. we got up early and got ready to catch the 8:30am shuttle. We got to the pickup spot at 8:25am and waited 15 minutes until a camper across the road said the shuttle left about 2 min before we got there. So back we went to the campsite and waited to catch the 9:30am shuttle. We were the first ones there at 9:05am. By the time the shuttle got there there was a crowd. After loading our bikes on a utility trailer we got in the shuttle to no seats left. Super thoughtful passengers. My son crowded in with a bunch of other kids and my wife and I had to stand. The grab bar was only attached to the van at 2 of the 4 required places. I had to stand right up front in the giant doorway that I had to ask the driver twice to close. The driver was nice enough, but the whole Star Lines Shuttle system is pretty ghetto. You get what you pay for. We would come back here to camp and visit the island as well as Mackinaw City.
Best views in the state views of the straits the mighty Mac amazing breeze and awesome staff after ten years I try to make it once a year no matter what I lost my father two weeks before our annual trip and they moved our trip back with out no issues made my family’s year what better place to recharge after a hard month !!!
Right on the water, spacious sites, plenty of amenities, and lots of stuff for the kids to do. What's not to love about this campground? Our large group took up 4 different sites and we were pretty impressed with everything.
- Clean showers and bathrooms
- Individual showers spacious, clean, and plenty of spots to put items (see cons). They played jungle/animal sounds over the speakers.
- Mostly paved roads
- Nice beach to play
- Swimming pool
- Conveniently on the water
- Lots of trees/shade
- Camp store with a variety of items, food, and drink
- Friendly staff
- Had to buy an outlet converter as all of their outlets are not standard 3-pronged. All are setup for large campers. Spend $4.99 to purchase and keep, or pay $10 refundable deposit to rent and return one.
- Shower cons (if using the main shower house, beware that all the walls are curtains and there's not a lot of room to set anything. Chair is provided and was wet.
Kids and families with us had a blast. Most of us tent camped (1 camper). Weather was beautiful and it was nice to see fireworks blown off on Friday and Saturday by the Mackinac Bridge. With the food options, clean showers, friendly environment, and plenty of stuff to do, and it being so close to the city, this is definitely a place worth visiting in the future.
Very large industrialized campground with various types of spaces and amenities including primitive and full bathrooms spaced around the camp. We tent camped with electricity but there was many RV sites with full hookups too.
This campground is definitely the best place to camp if you are planning to spend your time on Mackinac island(no camping on the island itself) or mackinaw city - just a short drive to the ferry dock!
There is also a large camp store with anything you could possibly need during your stay.
The only cons to this facility are the size/privacy of some of the spaces. We found ours to be very small and while it did back up to the forest which provided some privacy that also warranted critter activity! Very large raccoons were constantly on the prowl, be sure to keep your food items stored properly and you’ll be fine.
This campground is nestled on the shores of Lake Huron and the Straights of Mackinac. It is a huge campground, with campsites for every type of camper. From tents to luxury motor coaches, and everything in between. Some of the campsites are a little on the tight side, especially near the water. We opted for one their brand new oversized sites that were designed for larger RV’s. The staff here is very friendly and knowledgeable, and do a fantastic job of keeping the campground clean. When we checked in we were given a map with the roads highlighted to our site as well as typed out, turn by turn instructions. This is something more campgrounds should do.
The campground itself was nice and the views are amazing. It is very large and it’s very easy for the kids to get lost if they want to go off and ride their bikes. Also, check when the midge fly spawn is going to be each year. Our trip was hampered a bit by the few billion flying insects that we shared our site with.
We have been here three different times. Very large campground but never feels like it. Staff is friendly and helpful. Grandkids love amenities. We love view of the MightyMac and the island. Great place to stay for day trips away from campground.
I think this campground is best for campers. I was not thrilled with this in a tent.
This is our favorite campground of all places. The views of the island and bridge are amazing you will not find a better place near the bridge for these amazing views. Our kids love the park and activities. Great rates and great sites!!
