Secluded campsite just 30 minutes from Portland, Maine. Hike many nearby trails, shop in Freeport and visit breweries! Your very own private meadow campsite and Royal River frontage for fishing. Over 17,000 brook trout were stocked in the Royal River in 2018. Very secluded site yet close to many activities.
If you have been to TentRR sites before, you know about the loo toilet in the tent with packaging your poo. Well no loo for you. I have constructed a northern Minnesota style privy for your use, privacy and comfort.
Great place to hunt deer in the fall. 13 anterless deer seen this late winter prior to fawning season. If you don't see a deer to shoot while siting on the deck, you are not spending much time looking.
Visit the last remaining active Shaker village in the world on the other side of town. Many local hiking trails. Mountain biking at nearby Bradbury Mt state park within 10 minutes. Freeport with its many shopping, dining, and craft breweries is only 10-miles away. Portland is only 30 minutes away from our site. There are endless areas to explore nearby!
Visit nearby sites that were inspirations and mentioned in Stephen King's novels. Stephen King grew up 6 miles away in West Durham and biked around a lot as a kid!
The campsite is located between the two railroad tracks and the Royal River described in the book "The Body" and the movie "Standby Me". The body was found next to the tracks across the river.
To access the site drive down the farm road and cross the railroad tracks. These tracks have not been used in 3 years. The campsite is on the right. Do not bring firewood. The emerald ash border is now in nearby states and extreme northern Maine. Moving firewood is how it moves otherwise it only travels 2 miles per year. The nearby forest is full of ash trees. Let's keep it that way.
