This secluded, 7 site campground is located on the edge of Crocker Pond under a towering white pine forest. Crocker Pond along with several other nearby fishing ponds have boat launches for non-motorized boats. Drinking water is currently not available. (08/31/2018) Situated south of Bethel, ME, off Rt. 5, this secluded campground sits above Crocker Pond. Although there are only 7 sites, all but one are accessible, and each offers a different level of challenge and setting. Along the gravel roadway there is a hand pump for water and accessible vault toilets. Access to the pond is very difficult at this site due to the steep and loose gravel-covered banking. Other nearby locations (Patte Marsh and Broken Bridge Pond) offer vary- ing levels of pond access for fishing and boating.

Crocker Pond

When we pulled up to this quiet campground during a warm and sunny day in October, the light shone through the trees on an idyllic pond wreathed in fall color. With no one else around we thought, “welcome to the perfect campsite.” 

  

Each site offers a picnic table, fire ring, and access to the pond. The pit toilet bathrooms were clean and centrally located in the campground. There is a hand driven well pump for fresh water close to the boat ramp (canoes, kayaks, rowboats only). The water was a little rusty tasting, but perfectly fine to drink. 

  

A trail lead directly out of the campsite to another pond about a mile away offering a short round trip afternoon hike.  Further up the road, about a mile from the campground, the Mt. Albany trailhead offers a longer and more challenging hike up to the summit as well as connection to other trails in the area. Along the way we found amazing views of the surrounding mountains in all their fall glory!

  

The campground is only 8 miles from the town of Bethel, ME. This small hamlet offers a few restaurants, gas stations and grocery stores.

Could be the quietest place on Earth

Into the Whites from West Bethel, Crocker Pond is an off the beaten path car camping destination. Beautiful place to set up camp for a night to 14 days. The campground is situated along the wooded banks of the small Crocker Pond, with about 5 of the 7 sites directly on the water. A short drive to Rt 113 in the Whites along the Maine/ NH border. Caribou Mountain is an awesome 6.7 mile looped hike in this area. Great bang for your buck.

Simply a beaut 

We were pleased to find the campground mostly empty 4th of July week. It's beautiful and peaceful (if you're alone). Lots of bullfrogs, the water was pristine and the barred owls were singing. 

  

Fee is **$18**, not $16 as listed on the Dyrt page as of July 2021. Either way, a steal.

Great Little Primitive Campground on a Pond

This is easily the best campground I've ever been to.
