Very peaceful

This campground has good spacing and nice bathhouse. The area is very peaand clean with plenty to offer. I just stayed one night as I passed through but I would go back and stay longer.

Great camp site!

We spent 2 nights here at the end of July, and there were only a few other parties there at that time. About a 15 minute drive to the Garden of the Gods. There was a vault toilet in a central location, very well kept up! Only $10 a night for sites with electric hook up & drinking water!!

Just ok

The Pennyrile state park campground is in need of a makeover. I didn’t see any sites suitable for a tent. I was car camping and slept in my SUV so no tent but I’m glad I didn’t have to rely on the sites being level. There were roots and rocks on all the sites. It is quite and relaxing. Electric and…

Overnight only

The campground sits on three level overlooking Lake Barkly. There are only 5 pull-thru sites with full hookups on wide open ground, no shade. There are 16 water and electric sites. The 150+ sites are long term rental properties. There is a swimming pool, play ground, boat ramp, and game room. Dump…

We love this campground

We visit this campground every year. There are about 45 sites. Camper sites have electric and water. There are tent sites also. There are about 15 waterfront sites, a playground, beach, boat ramp, and small bath house. They can accommodate all sizes of campers. All sites have picnic tables and fire…

Clean, close to Highway

We stopped here overnight twice because it was close to the highway and had pull-through sites to accommodate our 43’ fifth wheel. We were pleasantly surprised by how nice it was, and you couldn’t even hear the Highway. Our sites both times were in the gravel pull-through area, which seems to be…

Nice National Forest Campground

Good size campground with both electric and non electric loops. Good number of sites. Generally in need of update. Playground was really rough. Lake provides some fun opportunities and rentals are available. Paducah is pretty close and has anything you could need.

Nice place

Very nice campground. There is a small lake to fish in. Nice play ground for the kids. Also has many activities for the kids.
Will be going back, I really enjoyed it. The staff is very welcoming and friendly.

Solid Stop!

Most sites here are occupied by full time residents with very impressive setups. We were just passing through on our way from Denver to Myrtle Beach, but we were warmly welcomed by everyone we met for our one night stay. Kids enjoyed the playground and the reservoir is really beautiful. We wish the…

Narrow roads but beautiful views

We stayed on the waterfront and hag electric and water hookups. The road in is one way and to dump you have to go all the way around and back towards tHe campsites. You pull back ou to the entrance from there. The access road to the site is very winding and somewhat narrow for a large rig. The…

Just Right!

The campground was well maintained, bathrooms were clean and nice. Though there wasn’t much air flow so it was a bit stuffy in the bathroom. Some of the campsites were small and better suited to a pop up or rv camper. We were in tents and our spot was good. Some campsites had views of Lake Energy.…

Great Rv spot

I would definitely bring a boat if you’re able. If not, there’s still some pretty great views. Everything was pretty easy for a first timer. The spots were nice gravel pads and angled for easy backin.

Hidden gem

Great backcountry backpacking. The huge rock formation area is packed but the backpack loop is amazing. Great views.

Beautiful quite lake front camping

Good size lots, most within feet of the water. Lots of trees so there's plenty of shade. Well maintained road to get here and pretty close to a modern campground with a small store. We'll be coming back here again!

You won’t be level, if you can even get into your site.

This place was laid out and built by someone who hates RVs. Seriously steep compound slopes, tight 90 degree turns, and hookups 100’ away on the wrong side of the site all make this place horrible for anything but a pop up. I saw at least four people worth reservations leave because they couldn’t…
