Hillman Ferry Campground offers 374 well-defined lake front and wooded sites capable of handling a variety of camping units from tents to large motor homes. Basic, electric, water, and sewer sites are available. Campers have access to modern facilities, including a large swimming area, archery range, ball field, bike trails, campfire amphitheater, hiking trails, two boat ramps, fishing dock, picnic tables, and fire rings. During the summer season we offer recreation programs for all ages.

Lots of spaces to camp with many right on the water, staff is friendly and everything you could need is nearby. Boat ramps in camp ground as well as a beach plenty of hiking/biking trails and beautiful places to kayak!

LBL has numerous campgrounds which are all just ok for the most part. However they have an amazing living history 1850s farm called the homeplace which is entirely worth the visit in itself if you're on your way to the smokies you should stop and check it out. Happy Adventuring!

OK campgrounds. AMAZING living history farm!

A wonderful campground with extremely welcoming and helpful staff from the minute we pulled up.  Fellow campers were pleasant (no rowdy groups).  A beautiful campground with winding roads and tall trees.  Sites angled different ways so that you don't feel cramped.  We stayed in Area C, Site 45w with a nice view of the water, close to the bathhouse, playground, and rocky beach.  Bathrooms and showers were clean the entire stay.  Showers are free and nice and hot.  Camp store had a variety groceries and necessities in case you forgot something.  So much to do in the LBL Rec. area.  Next time we'll bring our bikes and archery equipment to try out the range on-site at Hillman Ferry.  Make sure to visit the Nature Center and Elk and Bison Prairie.  Canoeing on Energy Lake, we spotted bald eagle and beaver dens among other wildlife.

Hillman Ferry Campground at Land Between The Lakes, Ky is just outside Grand Rivers, Ky and I24 is easily accessed Wether your going North or South.

It offers 374 campsites!!! Yeah, it's big. So if your looking for a get away for civilization type camping experience, this is not the place! Depending on what area you reserve in dictates how close your neighbors are and if you will be on the lake or get a work out going to the lake.

I did primitive site 21B, after originally being in C and feeling like I was surrounded by onlookers.

Golf carts, bicyclists and vehicles maneuver past you if you are trying to walk anywhere. Very loud, busy and crowded. The lake was also a happenin place with kayaks, swimmers, fishers, cruise boats, pontoons and jet skis.

Did I mention it was Memorial Day weekend when we visited, so throw in a parade and lotsa visitors to the campers sites for cook outs and well visiting .

we got a tent last year and the same day we hit up Hillmans Ferry.   it’s been years since I’ve been camping with my parents and it was fun.   so we decided to take the kids and boy was it fun it was quiet where we were located at and next to the water too.   it was the end of September the weather was nice and a chance to relax.   the campground was very clean cheap to tent camp no power and just a nice experience.   the spaces were pretty good size and spread out.

Stayed at Hillman Ferry for 5 days in their primitive site area. I like that Hillmans has a lot of sites that are first come first serve. We arrived on a Wednesday and asked the EXTREMELY friendly front gate worker for a site on the water that was as quiet and private as possible. My group ended up getting two sites right next to each other and they were absolutely perfect.

Situated on an alcove of kentuckg lake the waters were warm and mostly calm aside from Saturday when boat traffic increased, but it was still swimable. Great spot for launching our kayaks and paddle board and exploring the lake.

Great primitive sites on the water.

Hillman Ferry is very well maintained. It has sections for electric/water/sewer hookups, just electric/water, just electric or primitive. It had 2 areas that allow 24 hour generator. These are the most beautiful areas of the park. They offer a beautiful, sandy beach on Kentucky Lake and waterfront spots are also available. They have an Outpost store which offers most essentials for sale. They are part of the LBL, so they have miles and miles of hiking and biking trails. They have a fishing pier and boat launch with ample space park your watercrafts while not in use. They allow golf carts (can be rented from local company) but drivers must be licensed.

Beautiful setting and friendly people

Hillman ferry is a great campground for anyone who wants to be in nature with most of the conveniences of home. 
 there are over 300 camp sites, most are electric/water which are $22 per night,  along with several primitive sights that are $12 a night. 
 Hillman ferry offers showers and restrooms at several locations in their campground.There is an archery range, a basketball court, and a playground. 
 the store at the entrance of the campground was really convenient. they offer ice, firewood, candy and ice cream. apparently they will rent camping equipment like lanterns and cast iron cookware as well. 
 overall Hillman ferry has everything to make a comfortable visit. I've always enjoyed backwoods camping until we started bringing our young kids. with that being said; it's also a great place for first time campers.      The only down fall is how popular this campground is, holiday weekends can be very crowded.

Stopped at Hillman Ferry campground in May on a trip to Illinois. We camped here several times in the 1990s and it was very nice.
But it is showing some age now.
The roads were rough and the sites were not very level.
But the shower house was clean and there was lots of hot water.
Plenty of wildlife and hiking

Needs some maintenance 

We were a little uneasy at first because we usually do national forest camping, due to our amount of kids but they made us feel welcome from the time we rolled up. They placed us in the best basic site (B19) where we were up on the hill and had a 180⁰ view of the lake and were right across from the bathhouse. The store on site is incredibly cheap and reasonable, the bathhouses are clean and it was nice to have hot water showers. The elk &amp; bison prairie was a great close by stop, I'd highly reccomend stopping in. We stayed for a week and will definitely be back on our way through.

An amazing week!

Beautiful campground.  Big sites.  Nice private shower houses. But lock up your beer... apparently it's common to have it stolen from your cooler when ur gone or asleep.  Happend to us in the 15 min we went to take showers.  Talked to the gate guard and they are aware it's a problem but dont warn you....  tiny frogs everywhere!!!!!😊😊😊😊

Nice campground but....

Yet to disappoint 

This huge campground has the best tent sites near the water on loop B that aren't reservable, so you'll likely get a good one just showing up on a weeknight in the summer or less busy weekend. The kids had a great time at the beach/swimming area and there's a nice store and not too much traffic for riding bikes. Firewood was dry and reasonably priced. Definitely a favorite family campground at LBL! 

Big Fun on the Lake 

Somehow we got lucky enough to get the nicest spot in the whole place. Nice, quiet campground. Lakeside sites. Great place if you have a boat or kayaks. Clean bathrooms. We stayed five days and would come back. Some sites not as private as others so you may want to be careful choosing if that’s important to you. Beautiful and wooded lake camping. Had three dogs playing in the lake. We have a pop up camper and we were nice and comfortable. Friendly staff. Lots of families here with kids riding bikes and playing in the lake.

This is a great campground in a beUtiful place.. it’s huge and it looked like a lot of campers come in on weekend and leave camp site during week.. So nice! Staff great! Store Great! 

Beautiful Quiet large Campground

It has been awhile since i have camped here.  With trails and what I thought to be amazing camping i enjoyed it. With Grand Rivers a short drive up the road you will have plenty to do.  It can be crowded and cramped at times but i enjoyed hiking biking  and Grand Rivers.

Went went for 5 days in a trailer and had a great time! Really level sites with space between camps. The hikes were beautiful and the bison and elk prairie nearby was a hit with the kids. As was the planetarium and nature center. We'll be back soon!!

Pretty, clean, quiet camping 

Hillman Ferry is the northernmost full service campground in the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area and is an excellent base camp for exploring the LBL and other recreation opportunities in the area. And are there ever choices! To start, Hillman Ferry sits on Kentucky Lake and has many sites right on the water and it’s own boat ramp for those with boats. Lake Barkley is about 5 miles to the east and offers just as much water recreation - both lakes are massive impoundments and f the Tennessee and Cumberland Rivers. The campground has sites ranging from primitive to full hookup and offers a camp store, lots of space for kids to play and enjoy the water and is relatively close to town for fuel, Highway access and other activities in the LBL like the bison and elk prairie, nature center, planetarium 1850’s farm and hiking and OHV trails. The LBL is HUGE and we loved our stay and can’t wait to come again to explore more of the region. Hillman Ferry is highly recommended!

Perfect Location

Hillman ferry is a little crowded for my liking and the sites are anything but level. Although the trees were pretty, this site doesn’t provide much to the eyes. We did enjoy a night on Grand River and had a great dinner at the tavern. I’m sure if we spent some more time at this campground we would have enjoyed it, but it was nothing exciting for our short stay.

Stayed at Hillman Ferry over Memorial day weekend in 3 separate sites because we wanted an electric hook up but they were booked solid Saturday.  A loop, basic sites were our favorite because of the spacing and privacy.  Site 27 had a moderate grade and we needed leveling blocks but it had an awesome tent pad in the woods.  Shower house was 100 yards, beach 300 yards, camp store 300 yards.

We moved to D which was in a tighter 'camper subdivision'.. Sites had electric and water... lots of kids and families in the tall pines.

One star deduction for dirty bathrooms and soooooo many golf carts.  Quiet hours were well respected.

Wet and wild weekend

Quiet campground the last weekend of October. Decent camp store. Great place to take the family. Nice hiking trails.

We had a great time at Hillman Ferry. The bathrooms were clean and everyone was so nice! We are definitely going to camp here again. 

Super Fun!!

Our family spent 10 nights at this campground and were so impressed!  The site was spacious and clean.   Plenty of room for our 30' travel trailer and F550.  We rode our bikes all over the place and enjoyed the playground and lake.  There was even a rope swing at the creek that the we spent a TON of time playing at.   Please be aware there is very little cell phone service and the internet was down while we were there.  The bathrooms were very clean.   The showers were OK.  The staff were friendly and helpful and their store had everything we needed during our stay.   The grounds were beautiful and very well kept.   Would happily stay again and highly recommend.
