Columbus-Belmont State Park

We found ourselves scrambling to find somewhere to stay for 4 days after our original destination misplaced our reservations and were full. After a few phone calls we found ourselves heading here. 

  

The cemetary next door was both beautiful and a little creepy :)

  

Overall I would rate the park as good. It was well kept, including the bathrooms and laundry facilities, however our sites only had 30 amp power and no sewer connections. For a 2-3 days stay that's not really a big deal but by day 4 our gray and black tanks were full (or getting close). 

  

When we were leaving the only real problem we had was that the dump station was full so we ended up driving all the way home and dumping at our local Camping World, which was less than ideal.

Nice little campground with a lot of history

If your into historical sites this is a nice outta the way spot. Has awesome views of the Mississippi. Very interesting area to step back in time at with a museum. There are several nearby spots to visit in addition to make it a full weekend or week!

Dang Yankees

We have camped here twice. This is an amazing park. Clean and well kept. Staff are friendly amd great. We love sitting back and watching the Mississppi River flow by. We love this park and plan to go back!

Awesome Park!

This campground is very nice with electric,water and some sewer hookup. They are dog friendly and has a central shower,toilets and laundry area. There is a soda machine outside the women's showers. There is a mini golf course and a snack stand with picnic tables scattered around.

They have civil war reenactments sometimes and a museum on site. Also a community center to rent out.

Very nice campground, small size

This park is one of the best maintained parks that we have traveled to. The campground sites are well spaced out, and the sites that back up to the river are full hookup. Several swings and benches line the bluff overlooking the Mississippi River. There is a playground in the middle of the loop, along with a very clean bath house and shelter area. 

Just down the street from the campground, maybe 0.5 miles, is the main attraction for the state park. Scattered throughout the hills overlooking the river, there are picnic tables, covered areas, grills, a snack bar, mini-golf, and even a Civil War museum! All of this is well manicured with paved paths connecting it all. You can even take a self-guides walking tour through the trenches dug by soldiers in the Civil War, walking by several cannons and other relics left behind. This state park is rich in history, and you can tell they are proud of it! 

The snack bar food was good on a hot summer day, but the prices are a little steep for what you get, and you have to pay to go through the museum. With that being said, I didn’t mind paying those prices if it means they will continue to maintain this beautiful state park!!

Beautiful park full of history!

Nice little campground, with full hook-ups available. Nice views of the Mississippi River. Very clean all around. All site are hard and somewhat level. You can drive a short distance to the river for some boat watching. Everything is very well cared for. Lots of Civil War history on site. I'd recommend that you pass on buying the internet service. It's spotty at best and slow.

Columbus has plenty of areas to have a cookout, an abundance of trails to explore, a ton of scenery for your eyes to enjoy, history woven into it's fabric which is narrated to you by way of signs and a museum(which cost a very reasonable fee to explore), a beautiful campground, a pleasant little food shack with reasonable food prices( hot dogs, hamburgers, ice cream, sodas and more on menu), and cute mini Golf course!( also a reasonable fee). The staff we ran into were very friendly and helpful. Can't wait to journey back

Great little park with all you need

We stayed here while visiting my family in Kentucky. Our space backed up to a beautiful view of the Mississippi River. The kids loved the big field and playground. My husband loved this place for the history. The road to get there, coming from Fulton, was a bit stressful. Not a whole lot of space. The space became narrower on the little bridges so we had to drive with caution. Also, there were sometimes big tractors which made it hard to share the road. The laundry center had one good working dryer. We were told this, but I was hoping to get all of our clothes washed before hitting the road. I had to travel back with wet clothes because I ran out of time and quarters. The left dryer doesn’t dry very well. Aside from that, our stay was nice. The camp hosts were very helpful and nice. The campground was nice. The day we left, there was a marathon race event happening. Quite a thing to wake up to at 6:30 am. We plan on going back to sightsee, but we’re going to stay somewhere else because of road was just too stressful to be hauling our 36 ft TT on. If you go, be sure to check out the convenience store Beards and Roses - hands down best pizza! Must try! The garlic cheese bread is amazing too! Made from scratch! The owners are awesome, too!


Overall enjoyable stay!

The Mississippi River views from the campground are gorgeous.   Stayed here 1 night traveling to Reelfoot Lake.  The site of a civil war fort on high bluffs adds a bit of history to your stay.    Our back in site on the river side of the campground was very unlevel.  Bathhouse was ok.

This state park has a lot to offer

Such a beautiful area, very quiet, and if you love history this is the spot for you! Gorgeous sunsets over the Mississippi River. Very friendly staff.
