Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park

We enjoyed the history at this state park. I enjoyed learning about the salt making process and also Daniel Boone. They had a lovely museum for a small fee. They even have a fort on the property that we found on one of our hikes. The camp sites are ample size and do have electricity.  The restrooms were good.  My camp partner did hear some road noise so be sure to bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper.

Neat History 

Blue licks features a great lodge, restaurant and cabins. Our family used to visit the restaurant a few times a month for its down home cooking on the buffet. Camp grounds are clean and well spaced out, and there's great fishing spots.

We still fish there on a regular basis.

**Blue Licks State Park** isn't big but you will get a good workout!

This Park off Ky68 outside Lexington, Ky was a nice, informative stop over enroute back home.

You get to enjoy the Kentucky countryside as you drive to Blue Licks, once at the park the view is pretty sweet. I actually got a sense of the time period just viewing the landscape at the "top" of the park.

The campground is more toward the top of the hill and each area is located off the park road as you work your way down the hill. The Boatramp, of course, is at the very bottom with a small parking area and trailhead that leads back up to the picnic area and campground.

Smaller campground but well maintained and large sites along the outer edge, closet sites in the middle. The tent area is walk in and shaded.

Hilly

There is tons of history and a quick drive to Paris will get you more, that was why we chose to camp here. Disappointed in the camping part- pads is very small for RV, the connections are far away, the pool &amp; shop closed at 6pm (it’s summer and they close at 6!) no room for vehicles and the trees were so close we couldn’t op our awning up all the way. Neighbors really close too!

Never saw the host in the 3 days we stayed but the shower house was clean and well kept.

Lots of history 

It doesn’t matter where you are from, this campground is a very friendly campground. Your neighbors are just like when you are home....well if you like your neighbors. But seriously everyone at this campground is like family! Bathhouse is very clean with heat and air conditioning. Nice playground for the kids. Putt putt golf and some history along with  Quinton doing his nature walks, and events fit the family and kids with scavenger hunts.Also be sure to eat at the Hidden waters lodge!

Where everyone is a family!

The campground is small with paved sites but lots of ruts in the grass areas from vehicles parking and driving into the grass areas.  We were close to the primitive spots and luckily no one was in them or it would have been pretty crowded. Over all a nice campground, the lodge and surrounding areas are very nice.

It is a great place to camp at. With a tent it gets hot in there but all in all good.

We're at a primitive site. The hiking trail is right behind our site, which turns out to be in the best shaded  sweet stop to keep cool.

It's hot!

We parked one night at this campground on our way further south just for one night. It was a bit crowded and noisy, with not too much easily accessible from the grounds. The trails were pretty short/not well-traveled, but the historical buildings/remnants were cool. The primitive sites are just kind of tucked into one corner of the grounds—this is definitely mainly an RV site. No tent pads (which is fine) and the grounds were kinda mucky (I'm sure it had just rained recently, but we had to drive through it to get to our tucked away site). We chatted with a lot of locals who keep their campers there for the season, and they were super friendly. We bought firewood there, and the bathroom facilities were decently kept.
