In March 2019 a record flood devastated the campground, boat ramp, and trails in this area. Bee Rock Campground will remain closed until recreation facilities are safely restored. The campground is a US Fee Area. The Laurel County side, with 9 sites, is open all year. The Pulaski County side, with 19 sites, is open from mid-April through mid-October. An overlook along Bee Rock Loop Trail provides a scenic view of the rocks and cliffs along Rockcastle River. Bee Rock Boat Rampprovides river access. The campground features Old Sublimity Bridge, a historic structure built by the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC) in the late 1930s. The stone used in the abutments was quarried from the adjacent sandstone cliffs. The bridge has been restored for foot travel only. The name Bee Rock comes from a local legend which states that a large number of wild honeybees used to live in this area, using a hollow area under this cliff as their hive. Tired of the wild honeybees invading their hives, local beekeepers dynamited the rock, destroying the hive and causing honey to flow down the cliff into the Rockcastle River. Make sure fires are out before retiring at night or when leaving your campsite. Parking is available at campsites, boat ramp and overflow parking area. Restrooms are accessible vault toilets. Drinking water is available except during winter months. No climbing or rappelling from cliffs, arches or other rock formations at Bee Rock Overlook. Low lying areas are prone to flooding, so be alert for flooding when driving, camping or crossing streams in this area. Swift currents and undertows can make swimming and wading very hazardous. Bee Rock Rec Area

Visiting Daniel Boone is like stepping back in time. A lot of history from the origins as well as the structures built. Several choices in trail difficulty and all lead to awesome views and natural wonders. Good for family vacations as well as challenging undertakings. Campgrounds are private and well maintained.

El natural

I stayed here in early March of 2018. The campground is so prone to flooding that they have the picnic tables on the lower loop chained down so they don't float away. The hike to Bee Rock is very enjoyable. Lots of small falls and cool views of the muddy river.

All sites are new walk-in that have just been redone after flood damage. Laurel county side only!

Bee Rock Campground 

The sites all sit on the side of the road opposite the river bank. Each site has a small parking area and a well done, leveled gravel path/stairs leading to the picnic and fire ring area as well as the level area for a tent. I was most surprised at how much traffic was on the road, especially motorcycles. It did finally quiet down around 10pm. The road ends at a parking lot and extremely small and sandy canoe launch.

A great way to experience natures glory! Super relaxed staff and great scenery make for a pleasant camping/ hiking experience.

We stayed on the non electric side (other side of the river has electric hook ups, closed til april)

It was so quiet! Amazing stars, super nice sites.

Full of history! 
If graveyards freak you out, this is not your place. 

Peaceful 

It was a beautiful location. Lots of riverfront locations where you can fish off the bank, kayak, or hike some really cool trails with unique views and waterfalls.
