Versailles State Park Campground

Versailles State Park is the second largest state park in Indiana. Within the last year with the coordination of the Indiana Trail Riders Association, DNR and volunteers, primitive, overnight, horse camping was added to the park. Several more miles of horse trails were opened and a mountain bike trail section was also added to the park. Plans are in place for more mountain biking trails and a fourty-five site electric and water Horsemans camp, to be completed in phases. This is a very clean park, large pool, hiking and lake activities available. Bald eagles have been spotted in the park along with local wildlife. The local restaurants are family owned and offer large portions if casual dinning is in store, with homemade desserts.

Versailles State Park is a clean and family friendly camping destination that we enjoying visiting. There are three separate main campgrounds here; A B and C. C is our favorite because it is small, and mostly level lots (except the far end) with mature trees. B is larger with level lots, but usually crowded. A is very hit or miss as far as level sites. It’s very tight back in there, but more wooded private sites. It’s usually not too rowdy here unless you visit on a booked holiday weekend. The pool is nice, and the kids love the slides and diving board. They also have a fenced in area for small children with a baby pool and sprinkler. They do sell concessions at the pool as well. There are some nice trails and a lake where you can fish and kayak. I would also note that there is only one dump station for the three campgrounds so there can be quite the line when trying to get out of there on a Sunday afternoon. We love the Halloween festivities! It is so fun to see all the costumes and the decorations all over the campground. We plan to make it an annual tradition! Overall the park is very nice and I would definitely recommend to camping families.

Nice family campground 

This is a great southern Indiana State Park with easy access from US 50\. Plenty of sites to accommodate larger rigs with paved pads, picnic tables, fire rings, 30 amp, dump station and very clean restroom &amp; shower facilities. The park offers great hiking trails, mountain bike trails, seasonal nature center, seasonal swimming pool, horse trails and 230 acre lake. “One of Indiana's Finest”

Versailles state park has become my families go to camping, hiking, fishing site. We go several times a year to camp and rent a 2 person kayak to hit up the lake. Surrounded by hiking trails and fun family activities.

This campground is close to us so we come often.  Three sections A, B, C.   There is a small loop at the beginning of A that has nice sites easy to get in and out of with semi private feel.   Many sites are shaded and all are paved.  Bathrooms are clean.  Trails are really nice - some a bit hilly but super nice with creeks too.  The pool is always nice in the summer and biking here is fun too.

This is a good campground.  A loop is pretty open without a lot of shade.   B &amp; C have lots of shade but the sites are either not very level or not very big.  Clean bathrooms with push button showers.  We went on one of the easy trails.  Be aware this area is very rocky so easy is relate to the surroundings.  

Beauty abound 

Went in October, but did not write review until December. Great place and want to come back in the summer to enjoy the lake and pool. We had a nice level, shaded campground. Some sites are not level at all. So be sure to read up on the site you want before you book it.

October fall break trip.

Great park. Quiet, shady, and plenty to do. Trails 1-3 were marked well. The others, not so much. Lots of bike trails, but we didn’t check those out.
Lake was fun, we rented row boats for the day. Reasonable prices.
Use caution!!!! Poison Ivy is rampant!!! Bring your dawn, alcohol wipes, or ivyrest.

Perfectly peaceful

We enjoyed the stay at site 77. The description of the site did say it had a slight slope so were aware. We tent camped which means our tent was on a slope. Next time we’ll pick a more level site. Bathrooms were clean, just your run of the mill park bathroom with some spider webs. We hiked a pretty easy trail and loved the walk. We saw several sites that we’d love to try when we return. So we’d definitely go back.
