Pros and Cons

Memorial Weekend they had lots of activities for adults and children. The staff that helped us were very kind. However, at our site the breaker was broken, so we waited for hours for someone to come fix it. The sites were very crowded and packed close together, barely room for the picnic table…

Location, location, location!

We were late reserving a campsite for Memorial Day Weekend. But Don had a spot for us. We are glad we stayed.

The campground sits along the Illinois River: many campsites face it. It's secluded and quiet. Campsites are spacious and well-distanced.

There is much to do on site. The campground is…

Jubilee College SP

I’m giving it 3 stars not as a punishment or sign of anything wrong...I’m considering 3 stars as average. Not big pros or cons in my opinion. I’d say most of the sites are comparable. We stayed in Loop A and the shower house is in Loop B. Our biggest dislike for the CG is there’s no good way to get…

First weekend out

The campgrounds are very nice. They have clean bathrooms, a nicely stocked store, and a couple playgrounds. Thay also have an Eco Center with turtles, snakes, and an aquarium that our family really enjoyed. The grounds are on backwaters of the Mississippi so there are boat ramps, docks, and areas…

Clean, good size sites, lake view

We stayed here in April 2021, they have 21 RV sites as of this review and there were only 5 or six RV‘s here when we visited. The sites are very new since they just opened for business in 2021. Concrete pad is very large, depending on your rig, you could probably fit 3 or 4 cars at the site, to…

Beautiful State Park

My favorite thing about Jubilee is how quiet it is. The abundant forest, trails and the creek going through the park make this an ideal place to visit during spring and fall. Summer is ok too but may get a bit hot in Central Illinois for my taste. The campsites and campground are very nice.…

Perfect Camp Site

This place has beautiful views of illinois river. Nice sized campsites. Everything was clean and well taken care of! Not a lot of amenities, however that isn’t what camping is all about! Full hook ups at a reasonable price. Each site also has a picnic table and fire pit. The guy that runs the place…

True definition of camping

We went camping for the weekend and absolutely loved this place! Full hookups was a huge plus and at $44 a night a very reasonable rate for full hookups. The owner is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet in your life. Friendly, caring and very down to earth. He treats you like a friend, not a…

Great Spot

We are so thankful we found this park. Most occupants are simi-annual residents, but there are still several nice, quiet, shady spots to be found. Everyone is friendly. There are 2 clean but dated bathhouses available. It’s the most reasonably priced campsite that we have found so far.

My favorite spot

I’ve camped here several times at the primitive sites. It’s a decent hike in but once you get there, the view of the lake is worth it. It’s just a nice, peaceful place to camp. I’ve always been able to find a campsite since it is first come first serve. The host is very friendly and seems like he’s…

Nice campsite

This is a nice campsite that is just outside of town. Very good for a quick get away. Very nice host at checkin.

Nice quiet place

Nice quiet place, lots of areas to fish and take a kayak, or paddle boat.

A sandy forest that is less visited with backcountry sites

This review is for the backpacking campsites within the Sand Ridge forest. The trail is a mix of sand and soil. It’s quite an unexpected discovery in Illinois. We didn’t see anyone else on the trail but we saw cars parked so hikers were out there.

We stopped at 2 different campsites. They are…

  • Trails varied from wide to narrow. There are a few posts directing you but we referred to the paper map quite a bit.

Quiet; Deep Shade by the River

If you’re looking to stay close to Peoria and enjoy beautiful sunsets and the water this place has it. Big trees, deep shade and it’s right on the Peoria Lake on the Illinois River. The place could use some TLC but the owner is super nice and the the location and shaded spots are well worth it.…

Nice but overpriced

30 for electric, 15 for non. The campground is nice, but others in the area are half the cost.
