## Overview

 Macks Creek Park is a small campground located on the Boise River Arm of Lucky Peak Lake, just 25 miles from the Boise area and 4 miles off the Ponderosa Pine Scenic Byway. Visitors make the trip to enjoy quality recreational activities like boating, swimming and fishing. 
## Recreation

 The lake offers family-friendly outdoor recreation opportunities for both travelers and residents of the urban Boise area. Macks Creek Park offers scenic views and convenient access to lake recreation. Anglers fish for rainbow trout, Kokanee and smallmouth bass. A boat ramp is located within the campground.
## Facilities

 This primitive, small park offers a handful of campsites on the shore of Lucky Peak Lake. Clean vault restrooms, hand-pumped drinking water, and an emergency telephone are provided. During the reservation season, a volunteer Camp Host lives on-site and can provide information and assistance to park users. The Park Host does have scheduled days off and may not always be available during your stay.Parking availability is limited and there is no cell service at the lake. Two businesses within 10 miles offer limited basic food and services. 
## Natural Features

 Lucky Peak Lake is located in the foothills of southwestern Idaho on the Boise River at an elevation of 3,055 feet. When full, the lake stretches 12 miles up-river, with 45 miles of shoreline and over 3,000 surface acres of water. The campground is situated among shady trees along the lakeshore. The surrounding mountains are consistent with sagebrush steppe, dotted with sagebrush and bitterbrush. A variety of wildlife lives around Lucky Peak, including bald and golden eagles, mule deer, antelope, red-tailed hawks, California quail and chukar. 
## Nearby Attractions

 Arrowrock Reservoir, operated by the Bureau of Reclamation, is nearby, as is the beautiful Boise National Forest. These areas provide additional camping, boating, fishing, hiking and sightseeing opportunities. Recreation at Arrowrock Reservoir is managed by the U.S. Forest Service. Check with the Boise National Forest office for rules, regulations, and temporary closures before visiting.

Macks Creek Park

Our weekly camping spot during the summer months when we lived in Boise. After moving away three years ago, we thought it was time to visit once more. We stayed at this spot once again and hiked around, studied for school, and swam around in lake.

Local favorite campsite

Only got to stay the one night because we're on a road trip. However, what a great spot beautiful and so clean. The camphost was the nicest guy you could ask for. Definitely want to return!

Beautiful

This is one of the few overnight camp spots on the reservoir.  It’s not always super clean.  The garbage cans fill up quickly and sometimes over flow.  Great day access for boats.  Not a lot of shade for tent camping, so it can get warm in the summer.

Affordable, accessible, host on-site, potable water, lake access.

Good tent and rv

Stayed 3 nights to run errands and visit the Boise area. Out of town, but nice and secluded. We enjoyed the clear skies at night for some great star gazing. The vault toilets are cleaned every day and the camp host was active. 
No Verizon signal. 

Secluded Dry Camping

Last August I stayed at Mack's Creek. I was saddened by the drought and low water level. The docks were laying on dry land and the waterway was 100 feet out and below a drop off cliff. The marina was practically deserted. The camp grounds were lovely and well maintained.  The camp host was on sight and approachable. I put my kayak in at the marina. The camping was pleasant and kid friendly.
