Staff very friendly and easy going. Gravel sites with 50/30/20 electric and water & sewer hookups
Noise is mostly blocked out by ac unit running.

Nice, small campground!

The campground only has a little over 20 sites, keeping the whole place nice and on an intimate scale, especially if you are able to snag one of the lake-side campsites, which have nice lake breeze and beautiful views. The park is an important sacred site (I suggest visiting the mounds at sunrise),…

Quiet and comfortable

We stopped for the night on our way south and enjoyed a quiet little stay.  Good 50Amp, Water and Sewage with easy pull throughs.  The WIFI was actually amazing and we were able to stream our Fire Stick HD.

One night stop only

It gets 2 stars because the staff was nice but the park looks run down. Every site needed mowing (no rain so no excuse) and the site next to us was blocked off because of a water leak for quite some time, algae growing on the water. Trees need to be trimmed. It is easy on easy off of 75. ‘45 MH

Great little campground with plenty of things to do and hear

I camped at this park as a child and will always remember hearing the animals from the zoo in the middle of the night.  The lions roaring and the monkeys howling isn't something that many campgrounds can offer.  There is plenty to do at the park including fishing, boating, bmx and mountain biking,…

Very small but nice lake side campground

We enjoyed this off the beaten path state park. Nice , quiet area with the mounds and trails to explore. Super friendly rangers and welcome center staff.

Cheap, not fancy, lots of fun!

This place was great. It’s not fancy, and could use some updating, but we really enjoyed ourselves. They had lots to offer: bike trails, a huge wooden playground, a splash park, disk golf, a bmx bike track, an rc car track, a small zoo/animal conservatory, and some sort of nature center or…

Great stop if you’re passing through

Stopped here to camp overnight on our way down to Florida from Ohio. Arrived around 9:30 and was able to check-in after hours via a box with an envelope next to the office. Only us and a few other people so it was pretty quiet. The restrooms were very clean and well lit, and in this current covid…

Average stay

Site #52, full hookup site, slightly unlevel but generally a good site.

Park has a museum and war time tank and aircraft.  Large field where local airplane hobbyists come and fly their models.  Campground was quiet, and very dark at night.  We did see some wildlife roaming as we ventured out…

Group camping - great place!

We camped here with our Cub Scout Pack for the weekend. Loved the museum and outdoor aircrafts and tanks! There was a easy walking trail to and from the pioneer camp. The highlight was for sure the railroad that is right next to the camping area. The passenger train comes through twice a day and…

Historic and beautiful

We spent one night here and ended up leaving due to rain, but it really is a wonderful park. The mounds are mysterious and beautiful, the trails were great, and the view of the lake was terrific. I’ll say that the comfort station wasn’t all that well maintained. Plus there was still detritus from…

Decent place for a night or two

This campground is a decent place to stay for a night or two. It is very close to I75 (1.1 mile) making it easy on and off. We came in pretty late at night, around 10pm, and the staff had everything we needed to get to our site posted on a bulletin board for us. As we pulled into our site they…

Birthday bash at Lake Blackshear

Campsites #18-19

We stayed at these two campsites for a long birthday weekend. The sites were fairly level and backed up to one of the finger coves off this lake. That ended up having pros and cons... The bugs and gnats were bad in early September on several of the nights there. It have water,…

Very Quiet and Secluded

I had booked to stay here for 2 nights, but ended up only staying for 1 because my children were ready to go home. Our site was very nice, and we could even see the lake from our site even though we were not lake front.

The bathhouse was ok. The showers could have been a little cleaner, but…
