    Just minutes from busy I-95, this park named from a Seminole term for “meeting or gathering place” attracts walkers, picnickers, and athletes. It’s also home to a campground and Castaway Island, with two water playgrounds and a swim lagoon.

    Definitely one of the best locations when looking for Broward County RV parks, Markham Park has full RV hookups, picnic tables, charcoal grills, restroom complex with hot showers, and sanitary dump stations. Tent camping is also allowed at Markham Park at designated campsites. Reservations are required for all campsites and shelters. Contact the park office at 954-357-8868 for more information.

    All campgrounds provide after-hours security.

    Markham Park’s campground has facilities for everything from a small tent to pull-through spots for 60 foot RVs! There’s paved pads, showers, WiFi, grills, water, and electric hookups all the way to 50 Amps.

    Renowned for being the country’s first undersea park, John Pennekamp camping encompasses an impressive 70 nautical square miles. While many visitors view the park’s colorful coral reefs and teeming marine life on a glass-bottom boat tour, one can get a closer look by scuba diving or snorkeling. Canoeing and kayaking through the park's waters are popular activities; fishing is permitted in designated areas.

    Visitors can also enjoy walking on short trails through tropical hammocks, picnicking or swimming at the beach. The visitor center features several large saltwater aquariums filled with sea creatures, and nature videos are shown in its theater. Full-facility and youth/group campsites are available.

    At just over a thousand acres, this natural oasis — Florida’s largest urban park — is a haven for mountain bikers, paddlers, anglers and swimmers. Enjoy a picnic along scenic Biscayne Bay or unwind at the end of a fishing pole.

    There are rustic, air-conditioned cabins, too, along with a youth campground for organized groups. The park is also a welcomed stop for long-distance paddlers on the 1,515-mile Florida Circumnavigational Saltwater Paddling Trail.
