Nice but wet.

This was a very nice swimming and paddle boat park on the Hillsborough River when I was a kid.As a family we visited many times. Now everything is closed down except camping, hiking, canoeing if you bring your own. But still a nice place to camp. Better if not during rainy season here in…

A Hideaway

First of all, locked gate. You have to make a free reservation to get the combination. I camped at the primitive side. At the fork bare right then immediately turn right. You'll see the Port-a-John. Port-John was clean with TP. But who doesn't carry TP with them. The grass needed to be cut, it was…

Great in city place

If you’re in the Tampa Bay area it’s a great place to camp it’s part of a much larger RV site.

Backcountry Site

Short hike in to site. Nice open and quiet area. Firewood was available for $5 for 6 pieces.

Perfect!

There are several trails crossing the river, paved and unpaved bike, walk, run trails, a ginormous swimming pool, a snack shop and equipment rental.  It's breath taking and has everything you could want.

Colt Creek Lakeland Fl

Well we didn't like the tent and RV sites. They're in an open area on gravel with no shade and hardly no divisions. There are other areas for special groups that are much nicer. But for individual campers. The equestrian area was the nicest to us. But you must have a horse to stay there.

Nice stop for a few days

Planty of amenities, not far from the beach ( 10'driving distance). Good WiFI.

Don't stay at spots WD2,3,4,5,6 as they are very muddy if you are caught in a rainy season.

Away from it all

This is close to my home so I love that we can set up and still go to work!

Left early

Like other reviews mention, the pot holes entering the campgrounds are bad. But that’s by far not the worst part about it. For starters, there are people “camping” who clearly live there. I’m talkin’ backwoods hoarder hang out, party of five. Pretty sure one of the neighbors we met was on meth but…

Great Jump Off Point

I will return to this campground because the Pinellas Bike Trail runs right in front and I can bike into St. Pete. I also like the kayak launch site on property. The bathrooms were very clean and daily trash pick up.

The only down side was the level of privacy but we ended up meeting some great…

Spent 7 days it was a great camping trip. Clean. There weren't that many people due to covid issue. Weather couldn't have been any better.

For being free it was amazing

First you have to make an account on their website and make a reservation for the night. You’ll get an email that says what the gate code is and which lock to put the code into. The place is beautiful, picnic tables, fire pits, non-potable water and bathrooms. Although, the bathrooms are not pretty…

Great water access, bugs can be a problem

We spent two nights at E G Simmons County Park in Ruskin, Florida. It is first come, first served, no reservations but a quick call will let you know if they have sites available. Many sites are along the water with a small access point in the campsite. The saltwater access is to an exceptionally…

Gorgeous Private Spot

I lucked out and stumbled upon this campground late in the afternoon on my way down the west coast.

I did have to reserve a spot online and that provides you with the gate code to access the camping area.

There were a healthy number of sites but all relatively spaced out for privacy.

Also a…
