Cape Henlopen, just 43 miles southeast of Dover, has the distinction of being one of the United States’ first public lands. Recognized for its beauty and natural features, Pennsylvania founder William Penn decreed that the area should be preserved for the enjoyment of the local citizenry. That was nearly 3.5 centuries ago. Over the course of that time, Cape Henlopen has served several purposes but has always remained accessible to the public. In 1964, it was designated a Delaware State Park. Today, the park serves as an idyllic destination where campers, hikers, anglers and nature lovers can explore and appreciate the sand dunes, pine woods and tidal marshes in the same way the Founders did so long ago.

The campground in Henlopen State Park is the perfect base to explore the area and enjoy many of the park’s attractions and activities. The campground offers a variety of tent and RV sites (many with 2-point hookups), walk-in tent sites, ADA accessible sites, and camping cabins that can accommodate up to six people. Amenities include bathhouses with showers, dump and recycling stations, a playground and an amphitheater. Camping is available from Mar. 1 through Nov. 30; seasonal campsite rates range from $20–$59/night; camping cabins range from $70–$130/night.

When it’s time to play, the sky’s the limit. Four hiking trails are available for exploring the area’s pine forests and coastal dunes, visiting bunkers and watchtowers in the Fort Miles Historic Area, or taking in views of Delaware Bay and the Henlopen Lighthouse. Stop by the Nature Center and learn about some of the local bird and sea life (bird watching guides available), or take advantage of the park’s Borrow-a-Bike program and take a pleasant ride around Cape Henlopen’s bike path. For fun on the water, take a dip in the Atlantic at one of the swimming areas, try crabbing or surf fishing, or rent kayaks and go for an ocean paddle. There’s also disc golf and sports courts available for getting your game on. With so much to see and do at Cape Henlopen, you might just need to plan a longer visit!

Cape Henlopen State Park Campground

We arrived at our hike-in site just after midnight and was pleasantly surprised that we were one of two groups of campers on that Thursday night. Firstly, the walk to hike in is gloriously short for car camping. We were able to schlep all of our gear in three trips. We had considered taking a wagon but I'm glad we didn't. The check in process the following day was very short, but be forewarned that if you leave the campground and return prior to getting your camping tag you may have to pay the park entrance fee (we did not but were warned).  
There is sand everywhere (you are almost at the beach) so a small dustpan and brush will keep your tent tidy. The bathroom and showers are just outside the hike in parking lot, but could use an upgrade. The shower stalls don't have a private changing area, just a long bench on the opposite wall from the row of push-button showers. Also, the drain for the shower isn't in each stall so water tends to flood the area between the bench and the showers; bring a pair of shower shoes.  The water pressure was good and the shower was hot.  It may be a bit too much for little kids, though.  As the campground is usually fully booked, it would be nice to not have to leave my clothes and glasses on a public bench while I shower (I've had my Rx glasses stolen from a campground bathroom before). This is my only reason for the 4 star review. At night, we were able to hear the waves crashing on the beach, but have no ocean views. It was very soothing and I slept like a log! The camp store has wood for purchase, and scavenging dead wood wasn't a very successful for us outside of kindling.  
There are plenty of walking and biking trails, a free nature center with a touch tank (tank closed on our visit due to Covid), and historic Fort Miles.  
We would definitely stay again.

Great campground overall

My family comes to Cape Henlopen EVERY year. The park has a 3-mile paved bike loop great for kids that travels through the expansive dunes, marshes, wooded areas and by the beach. The beach is pristine and protected so it feels cleaner and calmer than the more commercial beaches. Because it used to be a fort, there are still watch towers and one is done so that you can climb to the top and have a view of the whole park.

A huge attraction-- there is now a bike trail that connects from Cape Henlopen into downtown Rehobeth. This is a super fun day activity and very scenic! Campgrounds are very well kept, wooded, and not far from the beach. There are basic campsites and cabins available. Bathrooms and showers also easily accessible. Book in advance! The park can be very busy on summer weekends!

Favorite place!

My wife's family has been coming here for YEARS and I've been fortunate to join them the last 2 years and this place is fun!

There are great camping options and a lot to do in the park aside from camping. There's a fun little store with some natural interpretive exhibits and staff to answer questions you might have. Also within the park is a cool old observation tower from WWII and a military bunker. There are cool historical exhibits to explore while you're there if you get bored of the beach or biking.

Speaking of biking, this area of Delaware has amazing biking. There is a connector that you can take from the park all the way to the beach in Rehoboth. We really enjoy the Gordon's Pond bike trail as well as the Junction and Breakwater trail. The biking options are truly endless! Catch awesome views of coastal maritime forests and salt marshes teeming with birds.

There are also several hiking trails within the park to explore if you want to give your bum a break from the bike saddle.

You're close enough to the city of Rehoboth if you want to spend a day or night away from the more secluded campground. This is a LARGE campground in a popular destination so reservations go quickly.

So much to do here!

We came back for another visit this September and the campground has undergone lots of renovations since I was here last so I wanted to provide an updated review.

As always, the biking and walking trails in the park are top notch! The Gordon's Pond trail offers beautiful salt march views with lots of birds especially first thing in the morning. Beach access is quick and easy from the campground, too!

We stayed in tent site 114 which was among a cluster of tent sites. Here you have to park in a parking lot and cart your stuff into your actual site. It's not a long haul but could be a pain in the neck if you tend to bring a lot of stuff with you when you camp. From our site there was a small path through the back of the site that provides quick and immediate access to the bike trails in the area.

The sites have newly built picnic tables (very heavy and sturdy) as well as new concrete pad fire rings with grates. They sit a little high off the ground than a traditional fire pit but are nice and well maintained thus far. As I mentioned, the tent site we were in was among a cluster of sites spaced out relatively evenly. However, if all of the sites had been full it would have been a bit close together for my liking. One thing that is nice about these sites is the amount of shade, super helpful in the late summer heat.

The bathroom facilities are also nice and well maintained. Be advised that many Delaware state parks require that you pack out all of your trash at most of their day use areas, the campground however DOES have a dumpster available for trash.

If you can get a reservation here it's totally worth the stay!

Nice Newly Renovated Sites 

Visited this campground on my way from Maine to Florida. There is a lot to do as far history and the old WW2 stuff. Really cool to explore. The beach and sand dunes are right here. There's a biking loop and plenty of coast line to fish.

Cape Henlopen is overpriced in my opinion. 31$ for a site with no electricity. The facilities are incredibly clean and new it looked like. The sites are really nice and spacious. The have nice new picnic benches and fire rings. You'll enjoy your time here if your not worries about spending a few extra bucks. Especially the WW2 stuff for the kids.

Excellent but expensive

We stopped at Cape Henlopen State Park on a road trip from Virginia to Vermont. We didn't make reservations, but because there was a storm threatening, there were tent sites available. The campground is divided into three sections - one for tenters, one for RVers, and a row of awesome cabins. We stayed in the tenting area, which offered little in the way of privacy. The campsites were flat and sandy, with a nice mix of sunny and shady sites. From the campground you can easily access bike and walking trails, but the beach is more than a mile away.

While the campground was kind of busy and crazy (summer at the beach), I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. There was so much to do. The beach is huge, and there are sections for swimming (with lifeguards), surfing, fishing, and dog-walking. You can climb a lookout tower, rent a free bike, take a guided kayak tour, visit a nature center or museum, or head to the bay to check out the lighthouse. There are tons of trails to explore too, which makes this the perfect place for campers who don't want to lie on the beach all day.

In conclusion, the campground isn't anything special, but it's got all the amenities and clean bathrooms, but the awesomeness of the park makes it worth visiting for sure. Campground - three stars. Park - five stars.

Amazing Park - Busy Campground

We love this state park and campground. For this trip, we arrived with friends and staying in their cabins. The cabins were clean and spacious with AC, heat and electricity. In addition they had a mini fridge and microwave indoors. Each cabin included a screenshot in porch with picnic table, an outdoor picnic table and fire pot with grill.

The park has wooded trails, trails in the beach, historic sites and an amazing nature center with a touch tank that included sting rays and horseshoe crabs.

Highly recommend this site and can't wait to return with our tent.

Diverse area with lots for kids

Cape Henlopen campground always seems to be booked, so I will start by saying if you’re interested, book a site quickly because they do fill up fast! And there’s a good reason for it, this state park is so impressive - it manages to combine a beach atmosphere with an incredible nature preserve area. You feel like you’re in the woods but also at the beach. Not much shade in some sites so come prepared. The park is beautiful, many trails to bike or hike. There’s a rental shop to rent bikes, beach chairs, umbrellas, etc as well as a snack shop open during the summer.

Sand camping!

Cape Henlopen is wonderful and really, really large. Bring the bicycles, helmets are required. We love it here, there is so much to do. There are miles upon miles of walking and biking trails. There are nice play facilities for kids, loads of water and beach access. Great fishing, with a large open pier complete with well stocked, well informed and reasonably priced tackle shop on the pier. Nice bathroom facilities available there as well.

There is a fantastic nature center (FREE) complete with touch tanks and knowledgeable park staff. Free bike rentals are available, some with baby seats and trailers. As a former military installation, there are lots of military historical items and sites. Underground bunkers and batteries and such. There's a wonderful observation tower built on top of one of these that affords beautiful 360 degree views and photo opportunities. There are also old observation towers, one of which you can climb to the top of.

Lots and lots of wildlife and nature photography to be had here.

Campsites can be a bit tight, and the measurements online are real. Fire rings and picnic tables are available on sites. There's a camp store as well. We've stayed both on sites and in one of the really nice cabins. The cabins are great for families, but do not allow pets.

Awesome HUGE State Park Campground

This campground was renovated about two years ago . It is very clean . As a state park we were surprised at all it offers. Laundry , full campstore , air conditioned and clean showers/bathrooms.. Just about all sites are partially shaded to shaded. The park used to be an old army barracks and they still have a lot of old guns and buildings you can walk thru , including the watchtowers. The park beach is a three minute drive and very clean . This campground is a great summer destination.

great campground and I will definitely be back.  Right in the campground there is a useful camp store, playground, family style bathrooms with A/C, trails and even a little free library.  There’s not a lot of space between sites but everything is nicely shaded.  inside the park there is a free nature center, free bike rentals with kid carriers, life guarded beaches, ww2 towwrs you can clImb,  fishing pier and off roading on the beach.  We only stayed two nights but feels worth staying longer next time.  I booked this sooo many months in advance and it was the last spot on a July weekend!

Loved this private sandy site. This campground was a great quiet place to relax away from busy beach towns nearby.

Beautiful Sandy Forest

The attendant was very friendly and helpful when we arrived without making a reservation first and was able to get us in for a single night stay despite the "no vacancy" for the last 3 weeks straight. He was very thorough about the best showers (with air conditioning), the nature center with trails, bikes to loan, and other things to do. The campsite was meant for an RV but it still worked for our car and tent. The site was partially shaded, had a fire ring and picnic table, electric and water spigot. Bathrooms and showers nearby but we used the shower house with private rooms and air conditioning. Small camp store on site that has wood and ice and a few other things. Laundry facility with coin operated washer and dryers as well as utility sink for dish washing. You can bike or take a long walk to the beach or drive which is what we did. Beautiful beach with bath house and concessions but not as busy as Rehoboth beach a few miles down the road. We also were able to see a pod of dolphins about 100ft from shore when we went swimming! Despite the campground being full and sites very close together the evening was still pleasant and quiet!

Great Escape 

Facilities (camp store, restrooms, showers etc.) were clean and well-maintained. Great bike paths all over the state park to explore the army bunkers, Ft. Miles, and the beach. We rented stand-up paddleboards and explored the calmer waters in Delaware Bay (pro-tip, don't wear your wedding ring out there, or it may end up at the bottom of Delaware Bay...oops). We were out there in the afternoon, but the guy at Quest kayak rentals (right in the state park, at the fishing pier) if you go out in the morning, you can sometimes see dolphins!

This campground was pretty busy. You need reservations well in advance if you want to have a choice of sites in the summer. We got a site at the last minute, just for one night. It wasn't the best site and a little expensive for us (we tent camp and were in an RV site), but there was shade, free showers, and lots to see and do. We had a great time here!

Large campground, Good for families, bring your bikes

This is a 5 star campground. It is clean, in a great location, staff is amazing and so on. There was only one issue we had with it and it is probably something that can’t be fixed but it is a big issue for us. TICKS! Ticks are everywhere! They are in the trees, tall grass and even in the sand. Out dog had no less than 8 on her in the 3 days we were there and she was even sprayed with tick repellant. They were in our hair as well. Besides the ticks everywhere, we LOVED this place and actually want to come back. Next time without the dog so she does not have to deal with that again. Amazing beaches and views everywhere. Stunningly beautiful park.

Amazing location with one big negative. 

Super close to ferry which Is convenient. Close to shopping and great restaurants. Park itself is very clean as well as all facilities. We stayed in november so I didn’t make it on the beach, but would definitely go back for summer!

Loved it 

The main thing to know is that the cabins and campsites are all on sandy ground.

For this visit we camped in the cabins with three other families each in their own cabins. The cabins are very spacious, have electric, air and heat. They also have a mini fridge and small microwave as well as tons of cube storage. There are two twin bunks in one room and a queen bed and sofa in the main room. The porch is screened in with a fan and a picnic table. Trash cans, garbage bags, a broom and dust pan are provided.

The cabins are all located near each other in a circle and are pretty close. They are great for group camping.

The nature center here is great for kids and includes several fish tanks, a stingray touch tank and a horseshoe crab touch tank. There are lots of kids friendly hiking trails around and historic military sites as well as some neat playgrounds.

Sandy but fun

Been going for years. Started renting, then pop up, now small travel trailer. Great staff! Have upgraded shower houses. Close to everything. Can’t say enough about how wonderful it is here. Great shaded sites. Have to book early!!!!

Love this place!!

We visited off season (early April) and absolutely loved it. The location was great and the beaches are quiet. I hear it gets packed and I see that it’s hard to book if you don’t book early. Our experience was awesome!

Wonderful

My husband and I tent camped here a few times and fell in love with this place. We bought an RV this year and have been to Cape Henlopen twice already. 
The sites are all a good size and even though the campsite is usually always packed, everyone is super friendly and respectful of each other. People respect the rules and keep to themselves, but will wave and say hello a lot in passing. It’s a very comforting environment. 
The newly built bathhouses are great! They’re always clean and I’ve yet to not get a hot shower, even though they get used a lot. 
Best of all, the campsite is dog friendly! Our two dogs love it here - the smells, trails, the nice people, the water bowl outside of the camp store. The beaches also allow dogs, depending on the season or time of day. 
The trails are awesome and easy to walk or ride bikes on, with a few hills to muscle up, but it’s mostly flat terrain and paved. There’s a nature center nearby that also lets you borrow a bike for free if you didn’t bring your own. 
The smell of pine trees and ocean is instantly soothing. You can also ride your bike or drive to the beach, which is beautiful. The bathhouse and concession stand at the beach is very nice. Sunset on the beach is absolutely serene.

Our absolute favorite camping spot

Okay, so a lot of people love this park but I just didn’t. It wasn’t close enough to beach to walk really. There was some shade but not much. The sites were very close together with a few exceptions. There were no-see-ums (little bugs) biting and no bug spray seemed to help. Loop A is the only road out of the campground so every car had to pass our site (A09). Don’t stay on A loop. 

The pluses though are the bike trails which were paved, flat, and extensive. The historical Fort was cool to walk through. The downtown Lewes area is cute but masks were required even outdoors in public and it was hot. There is a ferry that goes over to Cape May, NJ. I’ve done that in the past and it’s fun! It’s close to Rehoboth Beach with every amenity you could ask for; shopping, restaurants, entertainment of all kinds, breweries and wineries. I might consider going again in the spring or fall when it’s not so hot. 

Just okay 

Cape Henlopen camp sites fill up so quickly, and for good reason! After missing out on reservations year after year, this year, we booked a weekend tent site for July back in January and immediately realized the spark of this place. The campground is large with various loops full of RV, popup, and tent sites. There is also a section of walk-in tent sites, each with 1 parking spot semi close by. (Bring a wagon if you stay at one of these). We stayed in site T021 (walk-in site) and had plenty of privacy and space to set up our screen room, tent, and firepit. All camp sites come with the standard picnic table, as well as fire pit and grill grate. There is a camp store in the center of the campground where you can purchase firewood, coffee, batteries, ice or other camping needs.  There are several bath houses strategically placed throughout the campground so that you can easily find one a few minute walk away no matter where you stay. Bath houses were clean, updated, well maintained and air conditioned. There are both public showers that are stall-like within some of the bath houses, as well as large private shower + bathroom stalls (perfect if you have young kids). I didn't find the bugs to be any worse than typical summer camping spots (I heard they maybe spray for bugs on the sites?) but definitely bring your spray and citronella candles. It also POURED from a small tropical storm the morning we arrived yet our site and the full campground was well and dry by the time we set up in the afternoon  - looked like most of the sites were set up on hills, which is great to avoid pooling in inclement weather.  Pets are allowed and there are water spigots near every site. Although our site (T021) was spacious and private, my brother's family was staying on T011 and there were about 4-5 sites all in an open space back to back with one another near his. The neighbors were friendly so no complaints but the lack of privacy there is worth nothing in case you wanted to feel more 'remote'. The sites are mostly tree lined and semi shaded by pines. The campground gets extremely dark at night and the stars are so beautiful from the lack of light pollution! The campground is in a large state park, full of many bike trails, hiking spots, historical WWII sites, fishing pier, and of course the beach. There is a separate entrance for campers so make sure to follow that when you drive in. The beach \*is\* walkable (maybe a mile away) but much easier /quicker to drive, and there is plenty of parking by the beach. The beach can get crowded but is clean and has lifeguards.  The best part is on a quiet night, if you listen really closely, you can hear the waves crashing in the distance. Due to the nature vibe, proximity to beach, and modern  bathhouses, I think this campground has become our new favorite one!

Camping in Henlopen State Park was a great idea! My group was there, on two adjacent sites, from Sunday to Tuesday, in early June. The weather could not have been more ideal! We were on sites G12 and G13, which were both really large. Here's the rundown:

  

Pros:

*   Clean, accessible bathhouses
*   Really large tent sites
*   So close to the beach and nearby Rehoboth and Lewes (great dining and shopping)
*   Easy-burning firewood
*   Access to a camp store
*   A pretty quiet campground altogether
*   Campground fee includes beach access so you don't have to pay again

  

Cons:

*   It's busy! Be prepared to wait to get into the park for 15-45 mins due to traffic backups at the entrance gate
*   The walk to the beach is a LONG one

  

Neutral Thoughts: 

*   The campsite as a whole is a very busy one--there's a lot going on from bike riding to frisbee throwing

Spacious Sites Near the Beach 

The tent site was big with lots of choice locations for your tent. There is a lot of privacy between the tent sites because of the trees. 

The bathrooms were clean and modern. The camp store had lots of little items that I needed. And there was a Little Library. 

The hikes in the campground are beautiful. The historic aspect of the Cape amazed me. It was a site for WWII soldiers to watch for enemy invaders. The towers are still there. 

The ocean is beautiful but a bit of a walk from the tent campsites.

Great park

We brought our 2 weimaraners here for a couple years now. It's dog friendly with a dog friendly beach. Alot of the local restaurants are also dog friendly. This is a beautiful park with lots of walking trails . Some of the spots a kinda small so book accordingly.

Great campground with lots to offer for families with children.  Nice walking and biking trails. Trails and campground well maintained. Several beach access points and nice fishing pier. Nature center, historic military structures and watch towers. Very nice playground designed for varying ages and basketball courts. Great place for active families and those who want to relax. Only down side to RV camping is there are no sites with sewer hookups, however, bathhouses are located fairly close to most sites.

Nice facilities, most of the walking trails would have been much for our little guy. It would be an awesome place to have bikes and cruise around. Nice beaches, an awesome playground, and you’re super close to Lewes and Rehoboth beach towns. We loved exploring them. Pretty pricey for a weekday we paid 96$ for two nights. That’s with power and water though.

Nice family state campground

This is a great state park with nice campground and lots to do within the parks' 7,000-acre boundary. And, we do mean LOTS! Yes, there are the standard 13 miles of hiking and biking trails but there are also basketball courts, disc golf, boat launch with kayak rental, ranger-led programs, a nature center, food concessions, camp store, playgrounds, fishing pier(with a bait and tackle shop), and miles of Atlantic Ocean beachfront to enjoy. The property was historically a military instillation(the largest one on the east coast during WWII) so there are many bunkers, observation towers, and other structures some of which are museums open to the public. 

  

The newly renovated campground has 162 RV/tent campsites with 50/30/20 amp electric, fire rings and picnic tables. There are also rental cabins for those who do not have camping gear. Sites range in length from a 15’ back-in to a 105’ pull thru and are paved as are the roads. Not all sites are level so this may be a problem for some and the availability of big-rig friendly sites is limited. Roads are fairly tight and there is a one-way traffic flow to alleviate congestion so you’ll have to be patient if you are behind someone who is backing into their site. We were able to get plenty of antenna over the air television stations but those with satellite may have trouble with the shade trees. Our Verizon phone and internet service worked great. The showers and bathhouses were clean but were heavily used since no campsites have sewer and there are a number of tenters. 

  

Reservations can be made online and you can book a site for up to 14 days. For the dates we were interested in there was only one site available and it was an ADA site. I called the park and asked if being disabled was a requirement for occupying an ADA identified site and they said no so we were able to book it. We really could not figure out why it was classified as ADA in the first place but were glad to get the reservation since only 13 of the 162 campsites can accommodate an RV 40' and over. 

  

Camping in state parks does not mean they are at the bargain basement price and this was no exception. Depending on season, residency, and site the nightly costs range from$20 (for a tent in off-season) to$59 (for a water/electric site in peak season). 

  

There is plenty to do in the area. Lewes is a charming town with a few museums and historic buildings and a great restaurant Heirloom. The nearby town of Rehoboth is a beachy town that is fun to stroll the streets and mile long boardwalk. Rehoboth is quite a bit larger than Lewes with more shopping, restaurants, and activities and numerous breweries. We really liked this campground for a number of reasons– our site was nice, there are plenty of hiking trails, you can walk to the beach, and it is close to downtown Lewes and things to do. The only downsides would be the cost which was$47/night and that there was no sewer but we would definitely stay here again.

Nice campground, lots to do

We stayed in the G loop which is the group loop off the side of all the main loops. We were tent camping. If staying in the main loops, the center rows barely had room for tents and looked aimed for RVs. It would have been very tight if we tent camped at some of the inner loop sites. The tent sites were along the sides on the T sites and the even numbered A sites. The bathrooms were clean enough and there were ample showers that were free. There is a coin operated laundry facilities, a dish washing station and a playground in the middle of the loops. The wood was a bit wet and sappy. It was about a mile walk to the beach. There are multiple parking lots if you want to drive a bit closer to a beach entrance. We have two young kids and it was a bit too long a walk for them from the camp site. Bikes are prevalent and a great way to get around. We were there in July and it was very hot which is obviously to be expected. Friendly staff. 

Great Camping Close to Beaches

If you’re going to camp at one of the RV sites, you’d better have an RV. They are neither RTT nor tent friendly. The sites are packed in so closely that if you don’t have the privacy of a camper, everyone will see your business. You’ll hear your neighbor’s conversations even if they’re being polite. Kids are running around all over and riding bikes, which is fine, until you realize you have no privacy. This campground is great if you’re looking for a resort feel with its museum, bike friendly trails, frisbee golf, beach, etc. if you’re looking for a rustic, quiet campsite, then go elsewhere.

Not RTT friendly 

We have always had a positive experience here. It is clean, well kept and "quiet time" is quiet time every time we've been there. We enjoy camping here!

Great place

**General:** Large park with both hookups and non, plus cabins, located right on the Atlantic Ocean. 

  

**Site Quality:** Paved pads but many were covered with pine needles when we were there. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. Sites in the B Loop have the advantage of the camp store (which was only open on weekends when we were there in early November) and the bathhouse. Some of the sites have good separation between them but not all. 

  

**Bathhouse:** Separate “pods” with toilet, sink, and shower. The floor in the one I used upon arrival was completely wet, either by design flaw or a messy user but the one I used the next morning had a dry floor. Did not use the shower. There were detailed instructions with photos on how to lock the doors but even though I thought I followed the photos, the door still wasn’t locked (as I discovered when someone opened the door!). This led me to believe others have struggled with this too! 

  

**Activities:** If you bring a bike, there are a plethora of bike trails throughout the park that are good for walking as well. Biking will give you the opportunity to get to more areas of the park such as the giant sand dune, the lookout towers, Herring Point, and the Delaware Breakwater East End Lighthouse. If you are interested in World War II history, this is a good park to explore. You are also conveniently located near the Lewes-Cape May ferry terminal. 

  

**Conclusion:** We only spent one night here and did not have bicycles so I feel like we could not take full advantage of all the park had to offer (but I did get a good photo of the lighthouse during the golden hour)!

Enjoy both history and recreation

We’ll kept campground with all the amenities.  The camp store is centrally located and has a nice selection. Bath houses are clean and have mini split ac and heat. 

Love of great trails to walk or bike. 

My only complaint is that the sites are packed in fairly tight. 

Great location 

Nice paved roads and tons of trails, sites clean, nice bathrooms with private showers, dog friendly, free bike rentals, well stocked campstore. Only downside is sites are SUPER tight and close so no privacy. But the state park is great so worth it! 

Great Tent Camping and Location 

This is a beautiful park with stunning views of the coast and sunrise. There is a bike path too that offers equally breathtaking views of the area. The only reason I gave this 4 stars is I thought the campground store was on the smaller side compared to other campgrounds that I’ve been to. Also, there are no sewer hookups at the individual site but there are three dump stations upon exiting the park. Electricity and water hookups were available. Since this is a woodsy campground, there were definitely more mosquitos - so bug repellant is a must. Cell coverage was spotty in case that’s important to you. Based on views and location, I would highly recommend staying here.

Beautiful Beach and Scenery 

We love this park! There are many things to do and see! The campground is well maintained! We’ve stayed here several times this year!

This campground is beautiful!! There are paths to the beach that we rode our bikes on. Breathtaking sites for camping. 

Most amazing experience !

Love this campground.  Very hard to snag a spot for a weekend.  It's always busy.  Sites are small.  Lots to do, there's the beach, the WW2 lookouts, walks, biking and the surrounding area.  Easy access to Rehobeth and Lewes.  Always love going there!  The bathrooms can be a bit groady, but it doesn't matter too much to us now as we can take a shower in our unit if it's too bad.  We like camping here in the spring and fall….even with all the people, we can find peace.  Definitely recommended!
