Stagecoach State Park sets the stage for great recreation in the lush Yampa Valley by Steamboat Springs. Vistas and views are backdrops to the 820-acre reservoir providing renowned lake and river fishing.

A year-round destination, the park also makes a great base to explore the variety of sports and attractions of the area. An array of activities await with boating, fishing, hiking, picnicking, and camping.​

Stagecoach State Park is a great place to hold base camp when exploring the many outdoor opportunities around the park such as the Flattops Wilderness Area and Sarvis Creek Wilderness Area.

Visitors camping at Stagecoach State Park can enjoy the quiet atmosphere of the park in a beautiful mountain setting, away from city crowds and traffic. Many visitors make Stagecoach their basecamp when exploring nearby outdoor recreation opportunities including the Flattops Wilderness, Service Creek Wilderness, and Blacktail Mountain.

Stagecoach State Park Campground

We stayed in site # 62 with a waterview &amp; a mountain view. We have a great site nice &amp; big with electric hook up and had to fill with water. The water was Iron colored so we used bottled water for making coffee &amp; ice cubes.  There is a dump station in the park.

The fishing is great on this lake with spectacular view. Part of the lake is no motor boats so very nice for slick calm kayaking. We launched over in the Keystone day use area for the no motor area. 

  

From our site we walked up this hill there is a bench up there that is a good place to see sunset. There are some deer that live on this hill we see them everyday. 

  

Over near the Dam there was good fishing &amp; lots of crawlfish. We found Lures in the dead trees in the lake. My husband caught some trout &amp; Northern Pike. There are several places to launch a kayak so we explored a lot. 

  

There isn't much around so stock up on groceries before you go. I would stay here agian.

Great state Park on the water

We ventured out for our most recent camping adventure and hit up Stagecoach State Park just about 20 miles south of Steamboat. This great hidden gem of a campground offered plenty of fun. There were many trails to hike around or bike around the lake and campsites. There were plenty of water activities from swimming to boating and fishing. If you do not have a boat or SUP, the marina rents them all day or as little as 2 hours. The rates for the rentals were similarly priced to other rental companies.

The protected swim beach was a hit during the day with day visitors as well as campers. Lots of the children enjoyed the warm(ish) waters and my son particularly enjoyed hunting for crawfish or crawdads.

The weather was incredibly enjoyable and there were no mosquitos out to bother us at our campsite. We had a lovely view of the marina and was able to easily access it using the steps to the beach area. Yoga was offered early Sunday morning and had approximately a dozen participants. Would have been nicer if it were on soft sand, but instead, it's rocky mountain sand.  Other activities were offered each day as well, on Saturday the Parks offered fur, skulls, scat, and tracks for guests/visitors to examine and learn about. Some of the skulls and fur were real. However, the scat that they displayed was plastic replicas thankfully. L enjoyed learning and examining the items they had on display at the marina patio.

The cute library box where you could drop off books or borrow one yourself was a nice little touch in case you already read what you brought.

While some sites were more isolated, even the ones closest to the marina weren't that "close" to each other, We still felt we had some space. All in all, it was a great time and we plan to visit it again next year.

Stagecoach is close enough and a short enough trip to get into Steamboat if you want to head into town for an event. There are great restaurants in Steamboat too. Taco Cabo ranks among one of the higher places to grab a bite to eat.

Great fishing 

Nice for water activity but algae in water is a bit messy. Great tail waters for some BIG trout.

Nice views, especially with a full moon.

Tents and RVs were mixed together, and the crowd is mostly fishing related. The campsites themselves are nice and big, and you can’t beat the view on the south side of the circle, but the campsites are a little closer together than I usually like. Attentive rangers kept some would-be bachelor partiers in check the night I was there. It is also very open with little to break the wind, so if it’s a chilly night you will definitely need layers. 
Amenities included a restroom in the campground loop, fire pits, and large campsites. The closest trash and water was a bit of a walk.

Close quarters but phenomenal view

Beautiful area with plenty of water activities and fishing near by (Yampa River).  Nice views of the reservoir from our site.  Sites are a bit close but the views make up for it.  Short drive to Steamboat where you find restaurants, shopping and great hikes.

Loved it!

We stayed here with our popup camper for a week and loved the area. The views are outstanding, the sites (non electric) were spacious and the bathrooms/showers were very clean. This campground is a good balance in proximity to Steamboat and to the mountain bike trails in the area.

  

There are full hookup RV sites and as expected, they are pretty tightly spaced. That said, I would consider staying here on the RV side of the campground as well. Everyone we met was friendly and respectful of quiet times etc.

Phenomenal!

We visited this park in the dead of winter and we were the only campers there. There weren’t any services available but the site had excellent views.

Great views!

We had a site right by the river. We wished we had taken our paddle boards. Great Lake for boating and fishing. Rangers were great - they loaned us fishing rods to fish. Would be hot in summer since not much shade. Our loop had flush toilets.  The larger campground has pay showers. There is a nice swimming beach near the larger campground.

Nice to be by the water

Typical RV park like campground. Sites close together, no privacy. I arrived on a Thursday evening, it was full. Many large family groups in sites next to each other. The roads are the red sandy dirt so that is tracked all over especially when it rains. No cell service but there is Wi-Fi at the marina. 

Disappointed

Well appointed campground on the water. Seems to cater more towards families with RVs, no privacy or shade for tent camping. Clean facilities overall with great proximity to the water and marina.
