Boyd Lake State Park Cottonwood Campground

Larimer County Natural Resources has over 400 campsites in a variety of beautiful locations in northern Colorado. Our campsites vary from electric and full-hookup sites for your RV to walk-in and standard sites perfect for tent camping. Information about what types of sites are available at each campground, including the maximum RV length of a site, is available on our reservations website. Please keep in mind that our campgrounds fill spring, summer and fall weekends, so plan ahead – or come during the week! We hope you have a wonderful camping trip in Larimer County!

March 1 - October 31: Sites can be reserved from 180 days to 1 day in advance of the arrival date at www.larimercamping.com or by calling the reservation call center at 1-800-397-7795. Sites that are not reserved in advance become available that day as first-come, first-served for people who are physically present at the parks. Same day reservations will ONLY  be accepted at park visitor centers during regular business hours. These sites cannot be held over the phone, nor can their availability be guaranteed prior to arrival in-person.

South Shore Campgrounds at Carter Lake

3 sites offer a country setting with city convenience, hospital, grocery/gas short distance. Every site has its own picnic table, fire pit (yes, you can have campfires), Free Wi-Fi, RV 30 amp plug and level ground. Front range access within 20 minutes, 40 minutes from Estes Park, Rocky Mountain National Park. Seasonal access to ski resorts, trails and much more. Property has full view of front range to the west. Minutes away from Union Reservoir to the east. Reservoir amenities include swim beach, paddle boarding, kayaking, pontoon rentals and playground. We offer inflatable SUP and belly boat rentals to enjoy on Union or surrounding waters. Ute Creek Golf Course is less than 5 minutes away.

In the Fall, we will be harvesting and selling our Colorado wildflower & plum blossom honey, chicken eggs, duck eggs, & U pick from our orchard, Stanley plums. We are currently creating a large produce garden for our members to be able to access fresh vegetables from during their visit as well. Come say Hi to our chickens & turkey.

From Eastbound I-70, go **SOUTH** (right) through the flashing caution light (about 7.7 miles). The first gate on the right is where we are located!

​From Westbound I-70, go forward through the stop sign. Turn **SOUTH **(left) on Kiowa-Bennett Road. This will take you OVER the Interstate. Continue south through the flashing caution light (7.7 miles). The first gate on the right is where we are located!

**Precautions**:

Please note that this is a working ranch, as well as our home, school, and businesses. We may be out when you arrive. Feel free to walk around and see the animals. We do have 6 working dogs that will probably greet you before we do. They are friendly and will "go home" when told to. Their names are Dixie, Ringo, Brandy, Riptide….and the puppies are Willow and Saban.

There are insects, goats heads, and snakes present. Hard as we try, the ground erodes when it rains and is not always level. We recommend leashing your pets as we don't have an enclosed dog area built yet…. coming spring 2023!

The wind can blow a lot out here.

Please don't feed the animals, as they have special diets (and we don't want anyone to be bitten). Be diligent in hand washing after handling any of the animals. Keep a close eye on kiddos aged five and under.

You may hear gunfire as the coyotes are bad for all of the ranchers out here. If you are interested in brushing up your skills we do have a range on site with an additional dedicated archery range.

Babies are born usually in bad weather at night, and we may be assisting them with headlights on in the field. It is not our intention to disturb our guests, and we try to be as respectful as possible to you and your sleep. The roosters however, we cannot control their morning songs.

Located 40 minutes from Rocky Mountain National Park in Longmont, CO. The Longs Peak Lantern glamping site is built with natural timber, is off-grid, and is designed to merge a minimalist interior with the outdoors. Intended as an overnight digital detox spot for city dwellers, this glamping site was built by Alexandra and Craig on their 10-acre sheep farm overlooking Long's Peak, rolling prairie land, and their neighbors' horses.



Longs Peak Lantern

This campground in eastern Colorado is idyllic for the farm lover. You can pitch your tent anywhere on the property and get to know the plethora of animals, including alpacas, goats, pigs, chickens and cows. You'll have access to a fire ring with a grill and a basketball court. 

There are a total of 50 campsites available, with up to 6 guests per site. The main sites do not have electricity. If you have an RV, please request to a site with electricity. You can plug in your RV next to the goat pasture. 

Enjoy the wide open spaces and a taste of farm life.

Ambitious hikers can post up at the Elbert Creek campground and head for the Mount Elbert trailhead to tackle the challenging trek to the 14,433-foot summit. And, don’t forget the fishing rod for this destination: angling on any of the nearby lakes is a great way to enjoy sunny summer days camping in Colorado’s mountains.

This beautiful, 45-acre equestrian center offers beautiful mountain views along with space for your horses. The site is only 10 minutes east of idyllic college town, Boulder. There are 2 sites, each accommodating up to 6 guests. Site 1: NW of a big barn. Electric and water are 75 feet away. Site 2: No electricity, but water is available. Site marked with post and white mailbox. Near horse pastures.



M & M Equestrian Center

Get your fix of of the Centennial State at this idyllic flower farm that has much to offer. The Flower Farm includes a natural swimming pool, a white sand beach and a hot tub on site. There are 2 sites available to book, with up to 8 guests per site. You can catch a view of the Rocky Mountains or make the 30 minute drive to Denver for a faster pace if desired.

Surrounded by a steep gorge lies Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, near the small city of Montrose, NV. RVers and campers will want to stop and stock up on supplies before heading toward the campgrounds by the Gunnison River. Currently, there are three campgrounds available during the summer season, with two on TBD status. Rocky Mountain campsites open at the end of May and close around late September. The three available campsites are all on a reservation system. Longs Peak, which is still TBD, is the only first-come, first-served camping option. You can RV camp in Rocky Mountain, though there are no RV-specific sites. If you can’t get a spot in the park during peak season, the best camping near Rocky Mountain National Park is in Estes Park, CO, or any US Forest Service land to the east.
