 This location is available on a first-come, first-served basis only. Visitors are required to physically arrive at the campground to purchase and claim a site. Once on-site, you may be able to pay for your campsite(s) by scanning a QR code using the Recreation.gov mobile app, and the Scan and Pay feature. If this option is available, you will need to first download the free Recreation.gov mobile app https://www.recreation.gov/mobile-app prior to your arrival as some remote areas have limited or no cellular service.

Platte River Campground

I'll agree with the other posters. Platte River Campground is a great location if you are looking to do some fly fishing. The river is right there and easy access. Or if you want to set up camp here and then drive up/down the road there are tons of fishing spots.

Keep in mind there isn't a store or anything close by so be sure to carry in all you need. I don't recall water on site so better to be safe and carry plenty in.

I went in mid Oct so off season and there was only 2 other campers in the campground. I chose site #8, furthest away from the parking area but also more trees. There was a bit of road noise but not horrible. Was quiet and just a cozy place to stay.

Small and cozy enough, your perfect fishing spot

This is a great place to camp if you are planning to fish. Otherwise I would recommend the Indian Creek campground which is in the same area but off the beaten path. This campground is on the Platte River and immediately off the highway.

Small but right on the river

If you’re looking to fly fish and don’t care where you sleep, then this campground works. Great access to world class fly fishing so you can get started early in the morning. Expect the campground to be crowded! Very little privacy or trees. It serves it’s purpose, but wouldn’t recommend if you’re not there to fish. 

Close to neighbors, but close to fly fishing 

Went the week before Memorial Day '21 and found several spots available. Sites are small but with just me and my lab it was perfect. John the site manager was very friendly and not an uptight site manager. Had a nice little hike around the area. My lab loved being able to swim in river. I will make this place my go to place in the middle of the week to get away from the metro area.

These campgrounds have an amazing river right at your finger tips. 

It should be noted the higher up sites are right on the road, and the ones closest to the river are by no means far enough to deafen the road noise. 

Cell service- no T-Mobile
Water- no water
Toilets- long drop only no sink no lights. One men’s , one women’s.

No camp host or firewood available on week days.

The stars here are incredible. However if the breeze is up it’s gone chilling. 

Park in the lot and walk to site. According to a camp host at lone rock, you can park and camp in your roof top tent in the lot for the same price. However, no trailers are allowed.
