Valley Forge Trail Camp    hike in. no drive

Forage your way through the Valley Forge Trail, for an intimate night in the wilderness at one of its remote camps. For hikers, bikers, and equestrians the trail offers all the views, and the site handles the comforts. Well, comforts in relation to backpacking at least. If your running low of your water supply, visit the nearby stream, just always remember to treat before you taste. If you plan on leaving your vehicle at one of the developed recreation sites while your on your hike be sure to have an Adventure Pass.

Toilets available, we filtered water from the West Fork San Gabriel River that seems more like a creek. Picnic tables and fire rings made food preparing especially easy. It has so much charm!

Campgrounds are spread out nicely. Perfect quiet place 

Campgrounds are spread out well giving each site plenty of space. We filtered water from the "river" - seemed like a creek to me. There seems to be a full container of propane for a small camping stove in one of the bathroom stalls. I hope to be back here soon! Such a charming place with a pretty intense hike back up to the road.

Beautiful treasure 

Took some friends for their first ever backpacking trip, great intro to the “experience.” Trail camp is in the canyon so it’s an easy 3.5 mile hike in, but a tough hike out of the canyon. In April the creek was full, with several creek crossings on the hike and crisp, fresh water along the campsite that contribute to a beautifully green owasis of a meadow. I would imagine it would be a sad/nonexistent creek flow in the summer. There’s 6 trailside campsites with grills, pit toilets and great privacy.

Great intro-to-backpacking trail camp

Good backpacking camping spot. There is usually a stream for filtering water. Plenty of sites for camping.  Usually quiet when not too many people around. There was a loud group when we were there once since it is a doable hike from Red Box Junction. Trail leading to the camp can also be filled with downed trees. Takes a little climbing and going around obstacles but not too bad. Pit toilets.
