Not crowded, Owens River campsites
I was here in March 2023 and there were very few people camping. I was exploring the Volcanic Tablelands area so this was the perfect spot.
Clean restrooms (vaults), picnic tables and fire rings. Level campsites were fairly exposed to the wind, but the bluff to the north helps some, lots of room for big RVs, but mostly nothing to separate you from your neighbor.
The campsites on the south side of the river had some grass area, north side was pretty barren.

Check before you go
Campsite is currently closed due to high water on the Owens River. On June 4, 2023 the paved road into the camp was underwater.
I've stayed here before and it's a great place to explore the Chalk Bluff area from.
Snowboarding and camping
Went up and camped here for 3 nights before thanksgiving to snowboard. It was a great experience the campground was one of the most quite I’ve been in besides blm land. Everyone there was very respectful. Setup and went riding for the day and came back to some kindling split and a small bundle of wood at the site. The temps dropped to about 19F at night but the days there got up to around 65. Almost no light pollution so the night sky was beautiful. Even got a couple shooting stars one night.
