Clean, somewhat quiet. Absolutely beautiful

We got very lucky and got the last site available for the night. We were only supposed to spend the night and continue on but we lingered for hours, not wanting to leave!

True Dispersed Camping

My wife and I were going to camp here but she was a little spooked by the amount of bears we saw on the trail to the campsite. This area was also decimated by wild fire recently and a large percentage of the forest is charred. We ended up passing this site up, but it looks like it is a cool spot.…

Fires on the beach.

Quiet in the off season. Fires on the beach are great. Rediscovered this place in February and have reservations for November. Only down side is if you make reservations in person, they don't guarantee you that spot.

  • Fire on the beach with wine. It doesn't get much better.

Great camp ground surrounded by sequias

Camp provides showers, bathrooms, water, trash/recycling, fire rings and benches. The spots are very large. They take reservations as drive up day of (if they have space). It’s a little pricy but hey, it’s a state park.

Great views

Really beautiful campground that is first come, first served. The drive to it is pretty as well. The sites are all out in the open so it can get really windy and you can hear your neighbors if they are loud. The Dyrt’s info is all wrong also: there are no hookups of any kind, no WiFi, very little…

Hidden Gem

This place was a true hidden gem. I didn't understand why there were cabins available when usually everything in California is booked up months in advance!

This park I think only has rustic cabins, no tent/RV sites. We booked through hipcamp. They are all spaced out very nicely, with some…

Nearby swimming hole

Average pay site with pit toilets and picnic tables. 5 min walk to swimming hole under overpass on main road, across from country corner store with food, beer and supplies.

Perched on the edge of Stony Creek

If you drive past all the OHV-filled camps, you’ll eventually get to this little gem. No water or trash (though you have both at the sites back down the road), but the location is so perfect - you can hear the creek rushing, and the big groups are too far away to be bothersome. There’s limited…

Secluded, very basic, lovely

A long way down a dirt road to arrive. Fire pits + bbq grill + picnic table on each of the six or so sites, and a vault toilet at either end of the camp. I went in a Friday night in April and there was only one other couple there.

A nice surprise

I’m not an RV park person but this place was great! We stayed in our van in the tent area which was secluded, with a stream meandering through, and it was nearly deserted in April. Clean bathrooms, hot showers for quarters, and an outside sink for doing dishes. You walk through the RV section to…

Our site and tent were burglarized

Our site and tent were burglarized while we were gone for part of a day. They stole all cooking equipment since it was closest to the car then they started on the tent. Sleeping bag and clothes are completely gone. The only saving thing was they were scared off by some unknown reason, probably a…

A Very Pleasant Surprise

We rented a cabin here back in October. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, and their check-in area/shop had everything you needed if you forgot it. Our cabin was a five minute walk to the beach, with closer spots for RV’ers and tent campers.

The camp spots were all beautiful, flowery…

Heaven can wait.

I give a four star only cause the showers were pure evil. One was like pin needles and hurt very bad and the other one was only luke warm. The air draft was 100% blowing and super cold. Freezing from Hypothermia in a shower. Who would have thought? The Beach was Gorgeous, really close and easy…

Nice Out Of The Way Spot

01-17-2021 road in was muddy, but a capable 4x4 can handle it easily. Sites are dispersed, vault toilet, no trash. Trickling creek with frogs in the evening. It was windy over night and the road back out was blocked by a tree. There is another way out, but it's a Jeep trail and definitely requires…
