Bear River Park & Campground

So much potential!

This campground got a lot of negative reviews in the past for having a large year round transient population, but Placer County’s new online reservation system seems to have resolved that. The campsites are all along the beautiful Bear River. There are a couple of vault toilets. No potable water. Nice picnic tables and fire pits at each campsite. There is a significant amount of low bushes and brush between the campsites and the river. There’s quite a bit of poison oak so be aware. MOST of the campers there are folks like us just looking to relax. Unfortunately there are some patrons here that are obnoxious, trashy people. The people at the campsite next to ours didn’t feel like going to the vault toilets to use the bathroom. They instead used the beach next to the river to go #1 AND #2. Super fun to wake up to that in the morning complete with the toilet paper they used. 🤢
