Woolly Hollow State Park — Wooly Hollow State Park

The tent site that we had was great. (Site 37) It was right by the water with tons of room and a nice, level ground. Some hammock trees were nearby as well.There was a shared water spigot near the site. 

You park in a small lot behind the tent sites and carry your things a short distance.  

The bathrooms were clean, but they were quite a distance from the tents. This was my one and only complaint about this SP. 

In the warmer months, starting in May, they rent out kayaks, paddle boats, and canoes. There is also a small concession stand you can order from. 

My husband caught one fish while we were there from our camp site. It’s very handy being that close to the water. 

There is a great hiking trail around the lake. About 3.5 miles if you combine the cabin trail with the Huckleberry trail. It was an enjoyable hike. There were people of all ages enjoying it. 

We would definitely camp in this spot again! 

Bring your kayak and enjoy

We have camped twice at Wooly Hollow and visited once as a day trip. We love Wooly Hollow. It is very clean and quiet. There is lots of shade and several sites on the water. Our favorite trip we stayed in site #1 that was a pull through site with a water view. There is also an artesian well just feet from site #1\. The sound of it is so relaxing. The water was a little muddy when we were here. There are paddle boats that you can rent and fishing boats, too. There is a large playground for the children (we don't have any of those). The trails are easy to walk and the nature is awesome here.

Peaceful

Amazing weekend right outside of the Ozark National Forest. The lake was closed for Maintenance but the state park ranger had a weekend full of planned events from a box turtle demo to a sand castle competition. the best part was the guided hike with Master Naturalist group of AR. They put our daughter right up front and identified every plant and tree we passed as well as answered every question she had. As a homeschool family we are always looking for learning opportunities and we are thrilled we stumbled upon this campground. Bathhouses were clean, the snack bar was great, the camp spots were roomy. Highly reccomend. 

Family Fun

The best features of this State Park are: 1) it is close to Conway and an easy drive from Little Rock; 2) there is a separate loop for tent camping _and_ it's closer to the water than the hookups loop; and 3) it has a nice swim beach open in season. I believe the State Park puts on some interesting programs, too, so watch their calendar. The hiking loops around the lake and grounds are just fine but cannot offer the majestic scenery of some of the more mountainous regions of the state. If you camp in the RV loop you will likely meet some nice folks and enjoy nature among other RVers. The park is well taken care of, but again, it's not winning awards for the _most striking_ setting our state has to offer. Nonetheless, Woolly Hollow makes a good getaway for families that want to spend time outdoors, ride their bikes around or take a swim, look up at the stars, and not venture too far from home.

Friendly and accessible family campground

We visit here often.  The park is close to home.   We camp, fish, hike, swim, canoe, and just hang out in the hammock.  The park is kept well maintained.   The rangers are awesome.  The hold fishing derby’s for the young kids.  The park fills up fast in the weekends and peak seasons.   No complaints ever.   The park has a nice new visitor center.

Close to home

We live close by and go usually once a week.  Camping and hiking in fall and spring.  Swimming, canoeing, fishing, or just hanging out in the summer.  Sites fill up fast. New visitor center is nice.  Park has a fishing tournament for the kids.

Small but awesome 

We were in site 11 and really enjoyed being able to fish (&amp; catch) and put in kayaks from our site. You can rent kayaks, canoes, or paddle boats. The lake is the perfect size for kids to learn to kayak! This was our first time here but we will definitely be back!

Family Friendly

This park is pretty much spotless. I tent camped in the fall and loved it. All the tent sites have a gravel pad, picnic table and fire ring. Lots of trees to set up your hammock. They have a swim beach and small boat rentals in the summer. There’s a nice paved walking trail too. I highly recommend. 

Nice little park

This park was nice, we had a nice secluded spot right by the lake. The swimming area was crazy busy the weekend we were there. The trail we went on was nice and the park interpreters were very informative! 

Summertime

Out of the Arkansas State Parks that we have already visited, Woolly Hollow has been the best!!  It’s a very beautiful park!!  The sites are all asphalted and the bathhouse is located in the center of all of the sites so access is easy.  I wish we could have stayed longer but we are planning to go back once the water level of the lake gets up and can swim.
