Tucson - Lazydays KOA

When spending time on the road many times you will find campsite after campsite that is welcoming but not quite like home away from home. But when you drive through Tucson, there is a mecca filled with winter bird campers and long term campers which create a home away from home.

With only tent sites available on the facility, we were fortunate to find a site, however when we arrived we were so excited by the facilities we extended our stay by a day.

Office staff immediately greeted us and let us know about the facilities, which happened to feature a mini golf course, an indoor events facility, 2 swimming pools and hot tubs, an indoor recreation area and multiple on camp fire chinineas. In addition there was a fishing pond and dog park area.

Each of the 4 campsites were considered to be regular campsites instead of upgrade sites but when we arrived it was the most delux sites we had encountered along the way.

Pad sites were large and the first to actually accommodate our large tent and the ground was u like any we had seen before at a site. The soft mulch was similar to that of a modern day playground and made for a much more comfortable sleep over the two days we were there.

In addition to the standard picnic table of most facilities, this campground offered a kitchen facility at each campsite including a large copper sink and food storage as well as electricity and overhead lighting in the pergola designed to allow shade from the harsh Arizona sun.

It was the closest thing to glamping we had encountered by far!

Then as an added bonus, fresh fruit trees abounded ready for the picking. The front desk informed us of the allowance to pick what you want as everything was in season! An amazing treat on the road!

We spent many hours at the pool facility, enjoyed amazing neighbors, used the wifi and even did a load of laundry while in Tucson. The facility really was like a home away from home on the road.

If the scale went higher we would rank it more Bunnies. There were no real areas we could see for improvement. Staff was very accommodating, long term and short term residents of the facility were amazing and this was a desert oasis like no other!

Best Campsites for Snowbirds In Arizona

We were surprised at how well maintained this campground is.  It has lots of activities and the sites are spacious.  You will find citrus trees on many of the sites.  

The only downside to this campground is its location.  It does have a security guard so we felt safe in the campground.  However, it is not in the best location and we often heard gunshots at night.

We stayed here in a motor home and would stay here again.

Very well maintained campground

when you find the place you may worry but don’t. It’s gated very clean lots of stuff for kids to do with a rec area onsight workout room laundry, huge dog run area. close to a movie theater, wall mart places to eat but they do have an on site bbq place. we stayed under the large canopy. trash pick up from 8 Am to 6 pm everyday just put your trash by the curb and it’s picked up almost instantly. very clean restrooms and showers. I can’t say enough about this place 

stayed 3 days didn’t want to leave. 

We stayed here in early summer and were so comfortable in both an RV site and cabin. Wonderful. Staff great and the solar structures above most RV sites were great at keeping us cooler and happier! Best cabins we’ve seen in KOA Places. Nicest pool in a Koa. Super hot tubs and picklevall court. Wow. We’ll be back!

Shade structures are magnificent and nicest RV place in Tucson

This place is huge!
It is a KOA, but still very nice.
It is a “resort” so it’s a little pricey, but we were just there for one night to visit Saguaro National Park.
The sites are a little close together, but we were on the end, so we were not crowded. And, there was a grapefruit tree, with ripe fruit, next to our site. Orange and lemon trees were scattered around the park.
There is a large dog play area that was nice for traveling canine companions.
There is also a very good restaurant, BBQLIFE, right in the campground, that delivers!

Fresh citrus at your site 

Nice RV resort, pool, hot tub, gym, laundry, playgrounds, and a rib restaurant on site. Some sites had hammocks, a few had private dog "parks" (approximately 3' aluminum fencing with chicken wire attached on inside of fence to prevent escapes), some had fire chimneys built into the site, they also had a row of solar panels raised high enough above the site to provide shade when parking under them. The sites have decorative rock, concrete pad and usually a nice round metal table with 4 matching chairs or a higher table with 4 chairs. My site, as did a lot of others, had flowing fruit trees, other sites had different types of beautiful trees. The hook ups were easy to see, easy to access and we're illuminated at night. In the evening they have life entertainment and beautiful fire bowls situated around adirondack chairs at the pool area. Very pleasant atmosphere. There's a mail room, a gift shop and valet trash pickup at your site. A gate guard is either on duty or the front office will buzz you in. I enjoyed their landscaping since it was so different that what I see at home. I fell in love with the barrel cactus so much so  that I picked one up to take home with me from a near by garden store only to find out that don't grow in my home state of Florida. (Probably why I have never seen one before.) Not wanting it to die I donated it to the park where they assured me it would be planted and enjoyed.  The park is very clean and we'll maintained. The employees friendly and helpful. This was a great park. I look forward to returning one day.

What can I say. This place was my #1 KOA in 7 months of travel. We stayed for 3 1/2 weeks over Christmas and New Years. We cannot wait to come back. RC track, 2 pools, 2 hot tubs, fire pits, game room and great mail service too. We met amazing people here who became great friends. Fresh citrus trees on your site. The BBQ restaurant was great too. Clean laundry facilities. 

The best resort in 7 months of travel

Pricey, but worth it. Sites with outdoor kitchens, fireplaces, swings, patios..... lots of activities for everyone.  No exclusions on yr of RV or camper. Tents welcome.

Unique sites

Very nice RV park.  Clean and safe.   Solar shades provide Clean power to park.  Large and shaded dog park area for the fur babies. 

Desert fun

It was a good clean park and close to sights we wanted to see.  Easy access from freeway.

Love Tucson KOA Lazydays!

We were worried about crowds here but the sold out campground wasn’t busy. The pool was wonderful for our kids and they had it all to themselves in the morning. Clean sites, they collect your trash, full hookups, nature pond, wifi, store, great showers, laundry… anything you needed. 

Easy for everyone

Amazing staff, dog friendly, easy check in, extra large sites with patios, tables and chairs and fruit trees!!! Nice pool and hot tub, well stocked store and nice game room. Site was under solar panels so mostly shaded during high sun. Ate at the restaurant and had some delicious bbq. 

Best park by far 

This was the first outing with our new camp trailer and we had a great time. The park is immaculate and the staff is very friendly. It is a very enjoyable and peaceful campground. 

Great Experience

We usually stay in state parks so this was a splurge for us. We were able to get a spot for $35 a night. This was my first campsite resort and I was blown away. There is not much shade unless you get a spot under the shade cover but overall it was great. 

Had everything

We have never been to a KOA before and 4th of July weekend was kind of a wild time for our first experience. 

There were lots of amenities but because KOA’s are really really really full of families and young children—it was hard to find a time/ space to utilize them. At one point I counted 25 kids in the pool—not including adults. 

The WiFi never ever worked but we had good Verizon and ATT service. Laundry was always full but we squeezed a load in. Bathrooms weren’t great- in the ladies room, the doors didn’t lock and they were always in gross state (not from lack of cleaning via management—just from overuse). 

Our site was nice with a lime and olive tree on each side and a table and chairs. It was level and had enough space from our neighbors. We had a full hookup and everything worked well. Next door was a tent site and another RV on the other side.

The pools were nice including a jacuzzi and waterfall element, but just totally overrun. KOA texted us pretty constantly throughout the weekend with events we could participate in—for a fee. I’m not sure if this is standard or just due to the holiday. If you’re with a family, this is an obvious benefit for kids.

Seemed ADA accessible!Staff was nice and picked up trash from your site. There is also a restaurant and service center connected to the campsite. Restaurant not suitable for vegetarians or vegans. Service center won’t work on a rig older than 10 years.

Honestly, it was a very different vibe from our normal campsite and boondocking experiences. I’m rating as a 3, because I don’t think that the campsite capacity matched the need (the whole park was only about half full and totally overrun at every turn.) If you’re a young or old single couple, I’d rethink, this is definitely a family spot geared towards kids. 


First KOA experience

A great place to stay if passing thru or visiting the Tucson area.  Not your typical KOA.  

Very Nice

This place is incredible. Huge gated property with many different site options. Each site offers a metal table with 4 chairs. Some have playgrounds, private doggy runs, a fireplace, a sky deck, a covered patio, and many other awesome options.  There are 2 main community areas. The larger one by the front check in offers a BBQ restaurant, a pool with spa, gym, laundry, putt putt, pickleball court, basketball court, corn hole, playground, indoor rec room with games and pool and other outdoor games. There is also multiple events throughout each day, some for kids, some for family, and some for adults. 
The second area has a playground, 24 hour laundry, clean bathrooms, a dog wash, and a pool with a spa that is still a very decent size. 
There are also multiple dog parks and bathrooms throughout the park. 
Phone service for Verizon and ATT are not good, but they do offer wifi. 
Very quick check in and quiet neighborhood. Huge property so not all of the spots were filled during our time in May, so we had empty spaces surrounding us. The spaces are not tight at all and very easy to park in. They have curbside trash pickup 24/7, so all you have to do is leave your trash on the curb and you’re good to go! Overall wonderful stay and highly recommend! 

Wonderful resort 

**General:** Large KOA campground laid out in typical RV style with no privacy/separation between sites. There is every imaginable kind of site here from tent sites (with water and electric) to back-in sites with water and electric to FHU sites, some with covered sites to sites with private pet areas or play structures. There are also cabins sprinkled throughout. 

  

**Site Quality:** Most sites are gravel; some have grass. All are level. Amenities vary per site. Ours had a round table with four chairs (in lieu of a picnic table) 

  

**Bath/Shower:** In okay condition but then I saw a sign that they were scheduled to be remodeled a few months after our stay. 

  

**Activities:** There are so many offerings including two pools, a hot tub, a fitness center, corn hole, putting green, basketball, and bike/surrey rentals. Also a daily “schedule of fun” with daily classes including Zumba and yoga, arts and crafts, bingo, etc. 

  

**Other amenities:** On-site restaurant (delivery to your camper available), laundry, little lending library, pet wash.

  

This campground is located in a less desirable part of Tucson with very few (if any) grocery stores, restaurants, etc. nearby. There is nothing scenic about the area and the campground is located on a busy street so you will hear road noise (and an occasional train). While we appreciated all the amenities, we prefer campgrounds with more privacy and scenery. This was a last-minute reservation when our plans changed and worked for an overnight stay.

Not pretty but many amenities available

We followed the website instructions to the campground(CG) by taking I-10 Exit 164B versus our RV GPS and Waze, which wanted us to get off sooner. After driving that route while staying here, we discovered that route would have been good as well. Check-in was easy and informative. We then drove ourselves to FHU pull-through site 1505 with a patio and fire feature. We maneuvered to get our 10’ sewer hose to fit between our two dump valves as the utilities are centered on the pad. This KOA is a true resort with major amenities, such as a pool, putt-putt golf course, pickleball, restaurant, and planned activities. At check-in we received a Tengo Internet WiFi code, so we tried it out. We were able to do sporadic email and texting. We used our Starlink the rest of the time as we were able to get a good shot of the north sky. We got 5 bars on Verizon. Water pressure in our site was good at about 50 psi. As we are dog people, we enjoyed walking our pups to the fenced dog areas and letting them run. In the front of the CG by the gate there’s a huge 1 to 2-acre fenced dog park. In the northwest corner of the CG, there’s another, but much smaller, fenced dog area, and then another even smaller fenced dog area around the corner from our site. They have a variety of sites with various amenities. As we have family in the area, we would stay here again. The next time we would get one of the sites with a fenced dog area, such as 1476-1479, which has a fire feature and a fenced Paw Pen around the patio. There are covered sites under the solar panels, but we would avoid those areas as pigeons are roosting above. Four RV techs were staying at the CG with signs in front of their campsites while we were there. The week in January we were here, we were able to get some work done on short notice. The CG website has good pics of their wide variety of sites and an expandable site map that identifies amenities. We are not normally high-dollar“resort” campers, but this CG was impressive.
