Water side camp spots

Pretty great spot. Many spots off the main road to camp or just mob through rough terrain. First paved right will take you down to a vault toilet parking lot by a small dam. From there you can go over the wash to find three spots right along the creek. Good swimming. Not much service Att or…

Beautiful, quiet

We visit Burnt Corral mid-January. The weather was balmy. We pulled at 20’ trailer. The road getting there has steep drop offs but we were able to navigate it pretty easily. Toilets were clean, Palo Verde and mesquite bushes/trees made the area beautiful and shaded. We loved being right next to the…

Really nice spot

It’s a really nice spot, not the best amenities but there’s so much to explore, you can drive ahead this campground and take the dirt road to some of the most wonderful places, I was able to get really deep with a road motorcycle so you don’t really need an 4*4 but I would definitely recommend…

Don’t try taking an RV in winter

The only road open is from Roosevelt side over the dam wall … we had a 40 ft Cruise America RV. I would have been nervous taking an SUV down that road!!

We tried calling to ask about conditions and no one advised of road issues. Camp might be wonderful but the road killed any chance of us going.…

Decent campground, few amenities, in the middle of nowhere

Enjoyed three nights and generally had the place to ourselves excluding the host. The host was very nice. The fee station was out of order during our stay, so we paid via daily tickets at a place in Globe on our way out. The campground is right off the highway so there was a fair amount of traffic…

Awesome time.

Quick getaway close to home but seemed like we were far away. Yes there are OHVs out here but nothing rowdy going on by us. We camp wit a TT and had a great time.

Burnt Corral Campsite

I stayed at this campsite for one night in early November because I wanted to find a place that would be good for paddle boarding the next morning. It was a bit too cold in the morning for me to actually paddleboard but it was still very very worth going. The road is a little bit tough to get down…

Beautiful views on a busy road.

The views are amazing but so is the traffic. But around 9pm it quiets down. Sites are close to the road for the most part unless you have a high clearance vehicle. Lots of hiking in the area. Trail head at end of road gets very busy. Oh also this is state trust land so permit is required.

Not open

I booked a reservation for this campsite, drove all the way there, and it was closed. Pretty disappointed that I was able to make a reservation, receive confirmation, and the site completely closed.

50/50

For every good thing there was a bad. We stayed at Coyote Loop. You can’t fish from the shore because all the dead trees that go out about 10 feet along the entire shore (awesome if you have a boat; I guess). I expected lots of generators and the sound that it makes, myself included. I didn’t…

Great for Equestrian Campers, Hikers, and OHVers

This area is out there, man, way out there -- but if you want to get further out there, you can. The National Forest to the northeast of Roosevelt Lake is vast and sparsely populated. It is a perfect area to get away, well away, from others.

Cherry Creek Rd. quickly leaves pavement behind and…

Quiet, Gorgeous, Tons of Hiking!

Drive through the town of Gold Canyon AZ, and you quickly leave behind the sprawl of suburban Phoenix, but embrace the sprawling landscape of the Sonoran Desert which is brimming with life in the spring. The unpaved road leads to multiple pull-offs and side roads where you can find the perfect spot…

Not our type of place, too many generators!

I’m sure that for some, this is their favorite camping area, someplace to return to each and every spring with the family. It has everything one needs to get away from the valley, and out onto the lake for some motorized boating.

The smallish spaced campsites are perfect for getting together…

  • We chose the site farthest from everyone else, but it didn't help with the noise.
  • Lots of open space behind each site, though.
  • Whew.....hot by 9:30am, even in March!
