White House campground is located approximately 43 miles east of Kanab, Utah, two miles to the south of Highway 89 and the Paria Contact Station, at the end of Monument Road 751 . The campground sits in a broad valley between the Paria River and scenic white-grey sandstone buttes. Individual campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis; they cannot be reserved ahead of time. The campground was constructed in the 1970s, and, until it was reconstructed (2017- 2019), was combined with a trailhead accessing the Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness. White House Campground is open year-round. it has Seven carcamping sites (including parking), and 5 walk-in, tent-camping sites areas and tent pads All campsites are for individual groups; the campground does not offer group sites. Amenities include vault toilets, fire rings picnic tables, tent pads and a sand/gravel access road. Drinking water and trash disposal are available at the Paria Contact Station at the northern end of the campground access road.

Jacob Lake Recreation Area is conveniently located in Jacob Lake, Arizona, the gateway to the Grand Canyon's North Rim. The campground is nestled among the towering Ponderosa Pine trees of the North Kaibab National Forest, where ample opportunities to enjoy nature abound, from hiking and mountain biking to birding. Summer temperatures are pleasant during the day and nights are cool, while several feet of snow cover the landscape in winter. The campground closes each year by the end of October, though the national forest remains open.
Grand Canyon National Park is a popular destination for campers staying at Jacob Lake Recreation Area. But from the campground itself, visitors can walk a pleasant one-mile loop trail, or take a 10 minute drive to the Kaibab Plateau Trail a section of the Arizona Trail, which runs north-to-south across the entire length of the state. The national forest also has a variety of mountain biking trails ranging from beginner to advanced levels. There is no fishing at Jacob Lake. Reservations for horseback riding and chuck wagon rides, as well as bike rentals, are available at Jacob Lake Inn across the street.
The group campground is adjacent to Jacob Lake Campground and features two group sites that can accommodate up to 100 people each. While perfect for weddings, family reunions and other large group events, this campground is not intended for traditional camping with small groups of people. The facility offers ramadas, grills, tables, toilets and water. Jacob Lake Recreation Area is very accessible. It is located on 89A, a paved U.S. highway, yet set far enough back from the road to provide privacy. The roads within the campground are gravel. The facility is across the street from Jacob Lake Inn, which has a restaurant, gas station, gift shop and limited groceries, and the Kaibab Plateau Visitor Center. The nearest full facilities are 30 to 40 miles away in Fredonia, Arizona and Kanab, Utah.
Jacob Lake is at an elevation of 7,920 feet. The Kaibab Plateau is an area uplifted by geologic processes, making it higher in elevation than the surrounding deserts (the closest town of Fredonia, Arizona is 28 miles away and nearly 4,700 feet). Many species of wildlife call the Kaibab home, including the tassel-eared Kaibab squirrel, found nowhere else in the world, and numerous species of birds. The nearby lake only fills up with water occasionally, but marsh areas along the edges of the lake are great bird habitats.
The campground is 44 miles north of Grand Canyon National Park's rustic and less populated North Rim - home to abundant wildlife, hiking trails, spruce-fir and Ponderosa pine forests and unparalleled views of one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. Do not boat below the cable downstream from the Lees Ferry launch ramp. There are dangerous rapids below the cable. Downstream waters are restricted. A permit is required from Grand Canyon National Park to float this section of the river.
Camping is limited to 14 days. Camping is permitted in designated areas only. There are five designated areas, marked with signs, on a first-come, first-served basis. Upriver campsites are provided with toilets and fire pits. All campsites are located well above the river and require a short walk from your boat. This is to prevent camps from being damaged by high water releases.
Fires are permitted only in the fireplaces provided or in portable fire pans. No ground fires are allowed. If portable fire pans are used, all burned charcoal must be carried out. Collection of wood is prohibited.
Carry out all litter and garbage. There is no regular garbage collection upriver. Plastic litter bags are available free of charge at the ranger station. Dumpsters are available at the launch ramps for garbage disposal.
Federal law prohibits the disturbance, defacement, or removal of historic or archeological sites. Do not deface rocks and cliffs. Do not disturb plants or animals, and do not feed wildlife.
There are no fees or permits required to camp upriver. Entrance fees and vessel use fees apply.

Overnight Use Permits
You must reserve a permit in advance for overnight use. There is a limit on overnight use in the canyon to 20 people per day. Overnight users must display the permit on the outside of their backpack, and on the dashboard of their vehicle.

This 62 mile (100 km) drive (one way) runs from Escalante, Utah to the Hole-in-the-Rock on the western shore of Lake Powell following the general route of of the original Hole-in-the-Rock Expedition and is great for Grand Staircase Escalante Camping. Most of the road is in Grand Staircase-Ecalante National Monument, however the last approximately 5 miles are within the boundaries of Glen Canyon NRA. Most of the road on BLM land is passable to high-clearance, two-wheel drive vehicles in dry weather. The last few miles within Glen Canyon are best travelled by foot, bicycle, or four-wheel drive vehicle. There are numerous side-roads that leave this main road. Nearly all of these are only recommended for four-wheel drive.
Persons travelling this road should carry plenty of water (at least one gallon--4 liters--per person per day) and be equipped to get themselves out of any difficulty they might encounter. This road is not routinely patrolled by any agency. Temperatures can range over 100° F (38°C) in summer to near 0° F (-17°C) in winter. Sudden heavy rains, especially in summer months may make this road impassable. If you are caught near the end of the road during a heavy storm, you may not be able to make it back to the paved highway, even with a four-wheel drive.
Kaibab Camper Village offers the ultimate camping experience at the Grand Canyon North Rim. We're the only campground on the North Rim with full RV hookups, and we can even accommodate big rigs over 40 feet. We also have tent sites and one cabin-style room.
The North Rim is off the beaten path, quiet and secluded. From Kaibab Camper Village it is only a 40 mile drive along the beautiful North Rim Parkway (State Route 67) to the Canyon rim.
Our campground is nestled in tall pines, surrounded by the Kaibab National Forest and adjacent to Jacob Lake and a beautiful meadow. Unfortunately, Jacob Lake is actually a pond, and there is no swimming or fishing allowed.
The nearby forest and Grand Canyon have great hiking and nature trails, and horseback riding is also available in the area. To learn more about the North Rim, you may want to attend the Forest Service's interpretive programs in their newly restored historic ranger cabin and stop by the Kaibab National Forest Visitor Information Center.
