## Overview

 Lynx Campground is located in the Lynx Lake Recreation Area at 5,600 feet in elevation. Within 1/4 mile of the popular Lynx Lake, the campground is situated along the lake\'s west shoreline. The facility is about seven miles southeast of the city of Prescott, Arizona. To make reservations click on the availability button to the right to book on this site or call 1 (877) 444-6777. ## Recreation

 Several trail systems trails are within the Lynx Lake Recreation Area. Most trails allow for multiple modes of travel. The exceptions are Lynx Creek Ruin Trail #301 and Loop Trail #311 that allows hiking only. Wildlife viewing is a grand event when a bald eagle, osprey, or great blue heron has been seen flying effortlessly above Lynx Lake or skimming the water surface. Recreational panning is allowed on the Prescott National Forest, as long as any natural feature is not harmed and no motorized or mechanical equipment or mining aids are used. Lynx Lake is one of the most popular recreation spots in central Arizona and attracts more than 90,000 visitors each year. The lake offers a boat ramp and allows for boats with 10 HP motors or less. Oar, paddle, or sail-powered boats are also permitted. Horseback riders, mountain bikers, and hikers can be found on most trails. Forest Service Day-Use Facilities in the Prescott Basin are accessible at no additional fee. See the Volunteer Host for a complimentary pass validated for your length of stay. Visiting a Day-Use facility requires a pass visibly displayed on the vehicle\'s dashboard, driver\'s side. 
## Facilities

 Each of the 35 campsites in Lynx Campground has a picnic table, steel fire ring, and either an established tent pad or an area with room for one to two tents. Two campsites also have a lantern hanger. A steel ramada is present on select campsites. Campsite driveways are either parallel, pull-through, or back-in and all have asphalt surfacing. Some campsite driveways allow a camp unit and an extra vehicle quite easily while others may be snug. A few campsites are a short walk-in. Four vault toilets, two flush toilets, six trash dumpsters, and eight water faucets service the campground. There are no RV hook-ups or dump station in the campground. Campsites 10-19, 22-23, and 28-34 have steps. Campsites 20, 21, and 35 are fully accessible to persons with disabilities. 
## Natural Features

 Lynx Campground offers visitors pleasant summer temperatures and cool breezes. The campground is situated in a ponderosa pine ecosystem mixed with alligator juniper, oak species, and a variety of forbs and native grasses. The 55-acre Lynx Lake skirts the campground\'s east boundary. Several species of colorful wildflowers bloom in the spring and during the summer monsoon seasons. Day-time and overnight temperatures are pleasant and afternoon thunderstorms are likely from late June through mid-September. The forest is home to a wide variety of wildlife. Visitors may see deer, osprey, great blue heron, bald eagle, mountain lion, bobcat, coyote, fox, skunk, rabbit, and several species of snakes, lizards, and birds. 
## Nearby Attractions

 The Highlands Center for Natural History, in partnership with the Prescott National Forest, is only a few minutes from Lynx Campground. A learning center, trail system on 80 acres, and scheduled interpretive programs are but a few of the exciting activities the Center offers through the spring, summer, and fall. Lynx Lake Store and Marina near the North Shore Day-Use Area offers a restaurant, store, boat rentals, firewood, fishing and camping supplies. The City of Prescott is a few minutes drive from Lynx Campground. Many activities including arts, crafts, and music festivals are scheduled throughout the summer. Watson Lake, islocated within a 20-minute drive from Lynx Campground, is managed by the City of Prescott. The City of Prescott recreation pass and day-use fee should not be confused with the Prescott National Forest Day-use Passes or Day-Use fee. Fain Lake, in Prescott Valley, is a private enterprise and a short 20-minute drive from Lynx Campground. Fishing and picnicking can be found there.

Lynx Lake Campground

We stayed at a single site. It was not to far from the lake, a short hike down the hill. The Hosts were great. They would check to see if we needed anything or just drive through &amp; wave. I really liked the proximity to a store. But it was still far enough away where we were in the woods! I will stay there again! A plus for parents. They had flushing toilets &amp; a pump close by with drinking water.

Mother Daughter camping

Love this site. It has 5/6 loops with no electric camping but has pull through RV sites. Each site has a fire pit but currently under fire restrictions so we could use it. They have bathrooms and drink water. The care takers make cofffe each morning and give dogs treats while doing rounds. The lake is clean and kids were swimming. Fishing was free. I’d go back again it’s a nice break from the Phoenix heat. Kids loved it

I loved camping at Lynx lake due to the fantastic scenery and hiking trails that surround the lake. 

Beautiful Lake Area

Very busy and popular US Forest Service campground, conveniently located near Prescott and Prescott Valley, AZ. All sites are reserved, no first come first serve (only open if there's no reservation). A bit lower in elevation than nearby Hilltop Campground, with less tall pines. Clean sites, picnic tables, fire rings, water on taps, and cell service. Nearby Lynx Lake is a very popular day use recreation area. Shopping and restaurants are abundant and all within a few miles.

Lynx Campground, Prescott, AZ

This campground has tons of amenities and is not far at all from downtown Prescott. It seemed pretty crowded when we went, so we actually hiked around a bit to find a little more seclusion. Amenities were good and plenty of activities. 

Crowded but fun

Definitely one of the best campgrounds in the area. With several hiking trails around and to the lake- one will have enough activity to do. Fees are not crazy expensive either. And it is only located about 15 minutes from downtown Prescott. But make sure to make reservations online beforehand because spots tend to fill up pretty quickly! Have fun!

Beautiful 

This is a great little campground.  There are a few spots for bigger rigs as well as some double spaces.  The spaces are very nice and quite large in most cases.  The hosts were very nice.  The campground fills up pretty quickly.  The lake is very nice, to kayak on and fishing is good as well.

Many spots - very close to Prescott, in the trees, and on the Lake at about 5,000 feet -- what could be better -- camping at it's finest..

Campsite is clean and very easy to reserve ahead of time on the supported website which is very easy to use and see all the items open.

Great spot if you like to hike, bike and kayak..!

We were here mid week in September and it was very quiet. The sites were private and nicely spaced with a good amount of trees. It was a short walk to the lake. We enjoyed the loop walk around the lake as well as taking the kayaks out from the south boat ramp. It was also an easy drive a few miles to Prescott to restock on groceries. I'm not sure if it is different on weekends but it was very peaceful when we were there. About 50/50 tent campers and small or medium RVs/trailers.

Quiet getaway close to town

One of the cleanest campground I’ve stayed at.  Very quiet and sites aren’t crammed together here.  Large sites too! This particular site did not have any afternoon shade so was a little to hot. 

Lynx Campground near Prescott 

If you like to camp, hike, boat, fish, and cycle then this is the place for you! And with the the elevation being about 6,000 the weather is pretty much good all year round..!  Camp spots are good size, clean, and walking distance to both the lake and various hiking trails.

Plus these camp spots are located very centerally in Prescott to make it easier to see the town if you like.  For the cyclist in your family don't forget to check out the great riding on Walker Road!

Last tip -- if this site is full there is another great campsite right next door on the lake as well - Hill Top.  Both are abel to view/reserve spots with your req.gov account.  Enjoy..!
