Miller's Landing is a secluded Campground, Fishing Camp, and Adventure Tourism focal point located right on Resurrection Bay near Seward, Alaska.

Initially I was hesitant about camping here because I had read a lot of bad reviews. There are good sites and there are not such good sites. The location is perfect, the drive down the road was muddy but fine, there was free coffee and although some sites were close together and packed in, others looked perfect! Plus I always enjoy the ability to have a hot shower after a few days of not having one!

Great Location!

Miller's landing Campground in Seward, Alaska is a great spot right on the water for everything the Kenai Peninsula has to offer. However, it lacks in spots for tent Camping.  We had gotten to Miller's Landing at the end of a long day of hiking and exploring the Kenai Peninsula and the showers that the had were very refreshing.  The views from the campground right on the bay are great and you can ever catch a glimpse of seals and otters from the shore.  When we arrived at our site however, we were disappointed when we realized there was a single flat spot to put a tent.  This was after we had asked for a tent spot in the campground.  We tried a few different tries but were unsuccessful with the uneven ground and tree roots sticking our of the ground.  The check in desk was closed since we had waited until after our showers to set-up camp and couldn't find anyone to see if we could get another spot, although the campground looked pretty full.  We ended up sleeping in our rental van that night.  MIller's Landing has a lot to offer, just not a flat ground to tent camp on.

Hit and Miss Campground

When we read about the very limited campsites available at Kenai Fjords National Park (only 7 at their developed campground), we wanted to make sure we would have a spot by reserving through a private campground.

We chose Miller’s Landing through a coupon we had for buy one night + get one night free. Our stay was okay, but it wasn’t the serene national park experience we’re used to. Sites were very cramped, showers were coin-operated and cold, and people were loud.

But its beautiful coastal views and morning coffee made our stay much more enjoyable. We weren’t at the campground for very long each day, and it made for a pretty decent crash pad during our two days in the park and around Seward.

In Kenai Fjords, we’d highly recommend the boat tours. We took the 9-hour Northwestern Fjord Tour with Kenai Fjords Tours and loved every minute. The narrated tour was very informative, and we enjoyed going as far into the park as we could get. On our second day, we hiked up to Harding Icefield, a strenuous 8-mile round-trip hike for more incredible views of the glaciers and surrounding beauty.

Decent base camp for exploring Seward, fell short of our typical national park experience

The campground is on a dirt road at the end of the island, not a bad spot. Really pretty. The family is more worried about fishing than upkeeping their campground. Decent place, pricey. Cool place to go kayaking or fish, they do offer good packages for that. 

Decent but needs tlc

We absolutely love Miller’s Landing campground! It offers the best of feeling like you’re in a tall wooded forest as well as being right on the ocean! I always feel like I’m in an enchanted forest. The office building that you check into offers a seating area you can sit in and enjoy a cup of coffee if it’s raining, or if you need to escape the sun! They also have an awesome covered back deck that overlooks resurrection bay. Rocking chairs and views are a great combination! Campsites for tents are spacious and the running water bathrooms are cleaned daily. Charters and kayak tours go in and out daily. Always fun to beach comb and explore tide pools when the tide is out! Also, sunsets ( when the sun goes down here in Alaska) are breathtaking! Dogs are allowed. Highly recommend this camp ground!

Enchanting, Alaskan, Awesome

Lowell point beach is beautiful and always seems somewhat calm, despite the sea report. This is a great place to camp to feel out of town but be close enough to go explore the good food that Seward has to offer. Forget some camping gear? Head over to the local thrift store Ukanuzit to get what you need and shop local! 

Cresent Black Rock Beach 

For starters the road there/scenery isn’t my favorite but once you are there you forget about it. You do get to pass a pretty cool waterfall on the way. Some perks to the place are free coffee, showers $2/10 minutes, pot luck once a weekend, boat launch, cabin rentals, kayaking/tours and much more. It books up fast for some weekends so be sure to make a reservation. My two young children could play all day on the beach area eating an ice cream cone from the little shop while watching the seals/sea otters. This is a great spot and we would definitely come back again.

Family oriented camp ground - packed into a small family lot. Crew are mostly summer out of towners but you'll see the seasoned AKs working about. The tent are is snuggled into the wood and the RVs conquer the shore, with trailers fusing their way in both areas. Overall, great place to sleep, shower, and eat - hard place to stay multiple days due to proximity of others. 

Crowded but it is a get-away

Depending on the weather the campgrounds can be crowded or empty.  Always plan for rain when camping around here. Campground can get crowded but there is plenty to do in the surrounding area. Easier if you are hauling a 5th wheel and can just unhook. 

When it’s sunny this campground like all others fills up. If you can find a spot grab it.

The view was amazing and checking out the tide pools was so fun! Not much privacy but everyone was friendly that we ran into! 

Gorgeous view

Perfect spot for a small wedding reception! The bon fire pit and grill gave an fun and cozy vibe while the cabin had comfortable beds and a warm stove while it was rainy. The stove would fog up the one of the big windows, but the window next it to was fine.
