Gulf State Park has two miles of beaches, a spacious campground and a brand new Lodge and Conference Center to greet you. Yes, we have gorgeous white sand,surging surf, seagulls and a variety of activities, but there is more than sand and surf to sink your toes into. 

There is something for everyone inside Gulf State Park Campground. The beach pavilion provides picnic tables as an escape from the beach, the nature center is a great place for the kids to learn, the swimming pool provides refreshment for our guests and the Lake Shelby day use area offers kayaking and canoeing. For a change of pace while visiting check out the fishing and education pier, miles of biking on the Backcountry trail, beautiful flowers in the butterfly garden, and additional education at the  learning campus, interpretive center in the near future.

Gulf State Park Campground

This was my first time to camp on a travel trailer. As I usually tent camp. The trails here are super easy and would only disappoint if you wanted to do hard core back packing. The park is an easy walk to the beach. I took my kayak and my bike and it was a perfect fit. I was able to bike, snorkel, run, and kayak on a 4 day 3 night trip. The facilities are clean and the park is quiet. It is alcohol prohibited however.

This place had it all

Me, My Husband, my little sis and my son had a long weekend stay at gulf state Park. It's more so for fun and close to town. There is some nature , but we hoped for more.

Gulf State Park

This is a nicely maintained state park with the most unique layout that I have ever seen.  We had a nice, level, paved pull-through site where all of the sites on our street faced their own private view of the wetlands.  

It is conveniently close to the Gulf State Park Pier and Beach.

Nice state park, great layout

I have been to this campground on multiple accounts. Recently enjoyed my first tent experience in this campground, and it was fantastic. My only complaint is that the parking for primitive sites needs to be trimmed back to keep the trees off the vehicles. 
This park is very family oriented and there's something to do for everyone. The trails are fun to explore and the bike riding is endless! Facilities are well taken care of and the park staff is extremely friendly. 
I can't wait to visit again!

Great Campground

Disclaimer: We found ourselves staying here due to campground closures at Fort Pickens due to Hurricane Nate.

This is definitely a park focused on RV camping/guests. With only 11 tent/primitive sites, I would not recommend this spot to tent campers. The sites are small, loaded with fire ants, trash, in overall disarray and right on a relatively large swampy canal with a very active alligator population (it literally sits 10 feet or so from the picnic tables in these sites). That being said, the staff were VERY kind and accommodating. They were receptive to our concerns and made the situation right in every possible way. So if you are in an RV, TOTALLY spend some time here!

The RV sites are quite nice and well maintained. There are many amenities (pool, bike rentals, laundry, 24 hour ice, well kept bathrooms just to name a few) and lot's of recreation opportunities. The beach is just across the main road and the beaches here are absolutely stunning! Lot's of shells and wildlife. It you enjoy biking there is also a large network of trails (I believe called the Backcountry Trail) throughout the park.

Not for tent campers

My husband &amp; I spend the month of January here as well as other times throughout the year. Love the sites. Big &amp; roomy! We like being on Gator Rd on the water. Views are spectacular all day!

Great Campgroun

I will preface this review with this: if you're an RV camper who enjoys all the amenities then you may very well love this campground. I will also say that the staff were very accommodating when we expressed our concerns and we were able to move to my parent's RV site and pitch our tent there for our four night stay. That being said, I am going to continue my review as it pertains to my experience as a tent camper.

I've stayed here before and the tent sites, of which there are only 12 (the entire campground has over 500 RV sites, so it's big) have really been neglected. When we arrived to our site it was littered with trash, the lantern post had been run over and was on the ground, there were more fire ants than grains of sand and the small marshy canal that ran through the back of the site was only about 10 feet from the picnic table and frequented by large alligators sunning themselves in the campsite. There was no way, especially with two dogs, that we were going to stay in this site. The campground personnel had us move to another tent site which was just as bad as the first one. We wound up pitching our tent in my parent's RV site where the grounds were actually maintained and landscaped.

You can rent bikes here, there's also a pool and a cool little nature center. Lot's of amenities available to guests and many of the RV folks are here for weeks upon weeks. It's a short bike ride to the beach and there are many miles of bike/walking paths throughout the park (it's quite large in terms of real estate).

There is a "dog park" but use at your own risk. My cousin lives a short drive from this spot and passed by frequently, often seeing large alligators sunning themselves on the "dog park" beach. They live in the "pond" that is fenced in as part of the dog area. There have been a few incidents and interactions with dogs and gators.

The RV sites are quite nice, large concrete pads and picnic tables. Stand up grills and lantern/trash poles (not run over and on the ground). Be aware of the raccoons and other critters that like pilfering through the garbage at night. Some of the sites are on canals which are home to large alligators and they do sun themselves in the sites from time to time. Unlike the heavily wooded tent sites, you can see the reptiles in the RV sites due to the impeccable landscaping in that part of the campground.

BONUS: We were there during the super moon and it was spectacular!

Tent Camper Beware

Love this place! One of the nicest well maintained Parks I have ever been to! Hiking, biking, and kayaking! Great history! Geocaching is great and well maintained. Beware of the yellow flies down Rosemary dunes...

There's a lot to do in and around the park. There are alligators in the park so keep an eye out during the summer. There's a large pool, hiking trails, fishing, kayaking and food vendors along with a store and laundrymat. Lots of shade for tent camping. Much cheaper than renting a condo to visit the beach. Lots of stores within quick driving distance and a ton of things to do in the area.

Great for couples or families

They have biking trails throughout the park - and boardwalks to go over to the beach! If you aren’t camping you can pay to just bike! There is a pool, tennis courts, laundry facilities &amp; boat ramps! They have information sessions about local animals in the park as well. Campground is spacious - bring your own fire pit there is a grill available but that’s all. Bathhouses are so clean! Best way to stay in the orange beach area!

Awesome bike trails and boardwalks

**This is a Great State Park Campground. Full Hookups, no wifi or cable. But I was able to get service with my cell phone and Wifi I have for the Coach. Not too many TV stations, but with Dish or Direct TV, people were getting TV...Good signal...My Wifi hotspot, extra than my cell phone, worked great for Amazon, Netflix, etc. with a Chromecast. Huge sites...The pull thrus are right on the road, but I had a back in. Enough room for my 36ft. Class C and utility trailer...However I unhooked and put it next to me. They allowed a fence for my dogs. Right out the road is the Gulf of Mexico and beach. A lot of restaurants nearby. A great park that I will return to...The parkies are great... Downside is no golf carts allowed riding around. I don't have one, but a lot in the group I was with did. There's a big pool that I didn't use, but saw it. I was at a Rally. 75 Rigs, 300 people...They accommodated our group in the best way ever.**

Awesome Campground!

Gulf State Park, AL has the largest full hookup campsites we have ever seen.  The state park has many hiking and biking trails, a gulf beach, restaurants, swimming pool, lake frontage, stores, fishing pier, golf course and really nice restroom and laundry facilities.  All of this is a bike ride away from tourist attractions!

Huge Sites!  Fantastic Facilities!

We camped end of June for a week! It was hot but he campground had lots of activities like nature center, pool, tennis and basketball courts. The bike and hiking trails are amazing! Our teens loved them! When you camp at this park, your beach access is included. It’s across the toad but very easy to get to. The city has just added a walkway above the street and great public pavilion. Campground bath houses were nice. Staff was friendly and helpful. Also included is gulf state pier admittance...we had a blast fishing as well

This is a huge campground.
But, the sites are far enough apart that you don’t feel crowded.
And, they have everything you need: camp store, museum, bike rental, propane, pool, tennis, splash pad...and alligators.
Short walk to the beach.
Short drive into restaurants and shopping.

Everything you need

This park is like a small city, there are over 500 sites, only 11 tent sites.  My husband and I tent camped at gulf state park in February, 2019 and it was very nice, they have so many amenities here you don’t ever have to leave. If you were looking for solitude time, this is not the site for you. The bathrooms were nicer than some hotels I have stayed in. There is a store on site, tennis/pickle ball courts, swimming pool, activities center, horseshoe pit, nature center and over 25 miles of very nice hiking trails, oh yea, and less than a 20 minute walk to one of the best white sand beaches in the USA. Also playgrounds for kids. There is a laundromat and they have a church service and other scheduled activities.

Like a small city

From the second you enter the park, you feel like you are at a five star resort instead of a state park. The facilities are amazing. There is a pool, hiking trails, bike trails, beach, planned activities and more. It's beautiful and it's a huge complex. Our site was a pull through right on a swampy area. Within a few minutes we saw an alligator which sort of freaked us out but was totally cool at the same time. I suggest staying a week. You won't have time to see everything if you don't!

AMAZING place!

GSP has become a yearly destination for our family! The park is really nice and plenty to do for all. Pad sites are blacktop, full hookup. Miles and miles of trails to walk or ride, wildlife galore, fresh water lakes within the park to fish, close to great surf fishing and not to mention nice beaches to waste away on! If you can’t find something to your liking at GSP, you aren’t trying very hard!

Awesome Place to Camp!

We stayed 4 nights at Gulf State Park, over the 4th of July, 2019.  We made the reservations online, and would have done better to have made them a few months earlier, so that we could have insured more shade for our site. But, we could see the lake across the road, and we were really close to the air conditioned bath house/restrooms, and within a short walk from the swimming pool, nature center, lily pond, camp store, air conditioned laundry, tennis courts,swings, etc. It was a pretty good site, if lacking good shade. There was a camp dog show, a poster contest, a bicycle decorating parade/contest, and an ongoing day camp for the kids (seemed to be Christian based, and we didn’t have time to check it out). The beach is not close enough to walk, but you drive to a parking lot and walk out on the boardwalk next to a pavilion which has restrooms, and an outdoor shower to help you get rid of sand. Waves are pretty calm, so older kids a can enjoy it without having to have an adult holding them. Nice afternoon breezes. 
When we needed medical care for a problem, the staff were very helpful in telling us which place would be best for our needs. Friendly staff all round. 
We all felt very safe in this campground. 

Beautiful park, so many things to do!

**Campground Review:** 

Let me start by saying this is a very large park with a variety of campground options so I will do my best to first review the overall park then discuss each of the sites individually. The park sits alongside the gulf coast and has multiple access points to the beach. It also has an extensive paved trail network that is perfect for all kinds of activities including running, walking, and biking. While visiting the park we biked and explored the butterfly garden which I highly recommend. We also had the chance to visit the pier and the education center and everything is so well organized and taken care of. Overall, there is so much to explore you will definitely need multiple days worth of adventure. There are two major campground areas in the park and I will start by discussing the yurt option. 

  

There are several yurts that are set up and organized for camping during certain parts of the year that each have 4 cots and a fire pit. There is also a large pump sink and a wild west looking shower in this area. If this option is available I would highly suggest checking it out. It is perfect for groups and provides a nice private area to spend your night away from the more crowded RV sites. This area is also centrally located and remote from the remainder of the park so you will have an incredible view of the night sky. The site is kept very clean and mostly covered in sand so it was wonderful to walk around barefoot. Finally, although you will have to bike or hike to get to these sites there is already firewood available for purchase so you won’t have to carry that in with you. 

  

The tent/RV area is very large and has a variety of amenities that will make your stay very enjoyable. Overall, it is on the slightly more expensive side for a campground but provides easy access to the beach and is significantly less than many of the nearby hotels. One thing I really liked was that they have created a separate area for tent-only sites from the combined tent/RV spaces. This gives you a slightly more rustic experience if that is what you look for. On top of all the usual features, they have a pool and picnic areas that campground guests can use and don’t forget to stop by the wildlife education center. You can also join in for one of the rangers led educational walks to see wildlife around the park

**\*\*Product Review:\*\*** As a Ranger for The Dyrt, I get to test products. At this campground, I tried out the [Morsel Spork XL](https://morselspork.com/products/morsel-spork). After eating several meals using this innovative spork some of my favorite features are: 

1.  Length: I got the long-handled spork to be able to use it both for regular campground meals on plates or bowls and also with backpacking meal bags and eating out of cookware which each has its own needs in terms of reachability. However, until I opened the package I didn’t imagine just how long the XL spork was and this was very exciting to see. I haven’t had a camping tool that provides nearly as much reach as the Morsel Spork. Besides the obvious use of reaching to the bottom of a dehydrated backpacking meal bag, the long spork is also incredibly helpful for not burning yourself while cooking in deep pots or stirring large meals without worrying about getting your hands dirty. 
2.  Multi-edged spoon: The spork spoon end is designed to have both a rounded edge and a sharp-angled edge both with a flexible rubber edging. This makes it even more multifunctional by allowing it to clean any remaining food out of all types of pots and bowls. I found this was helpful to enjoy every last bit of our delicious camping food and made clean up so much easier. Its such a simple design idea but makes such a huge difference in practice. 
3.  Durability: I loved how lightweight the plastic material was but also didn’t ever worry about it snapping or breaking during use or in my backpack. They used a strong but slightly flexible plastic that won’t easily snap in half but also can withstand heavy use in tough foods. We were able to use the spork to cut through hard cheeses and also mix rice dishes. The curved shape of the long handle gives it extra strength and they even designed it to be washed in the dishwasher when you get home. Overall, this is the best spork I have ever used and has even become part of my daily lunchbox. When you use it to eat while camping you can quickly tell the amount of thought that went into engineering each aspect and finding the way to make it not only effective but also last you many years of adventure.

Ranger Review: Morsel Spork XL at Gulf State Park

We stayed on the main road of the park and were concerned about a possible noise issue. We were pleased that after hours it was very quiet. Our spot was nice and flat but unfortunately no shade during the hot afternoon hours. 
We walked the trail system extensively and loved it. Also from our camper door to the beach was only 1.25 miles.....win from my standpoint. 
Used the laundry facility and was very impressed on the cost and cleanliness. Another win!!

Great stay

The best state park my wife and I have ever visited! All the amenities you need, clean and beautiful, sites have plenty of room. Plenty of trails, beach access, pier access for great fishing, large and clean swimming pool, nature center. Polite and friendly staff.  Spent a week here, wanted to stay longer, will definitely go back.

Absolutely wonderful!

Being an Alabama native we usually try to camp outside of the state. I’m ashamed to say at 55 I have camped @ GSP for the first time.  
My husband &amp; I were very impressed with the park. First let me say that this is a huge state park. The campground has almost 500 sites. I may be wrong but I think they all offer sewage which is not common in most state parks. 
For the campground to be so big we were pleasantly surprise at how much space there was between sites. 
Not may of the sites have shade bc of a hurricane that hit them pretty hard many years ago but we didn’t really see that as a problem during our visit. I would imagine during the dead heat of the summer it may be an issue for some people though. 
The staff were some of the friendliest I’ve encountered. The bath houses were incredibly clean. We noticed a very nice swimming pool although we never went. 
They have laundry facilities, a camp store &amp; many other offerings. I suggest visiting the website to see all they have. 
The biking &amp; hiking trails are amazing. I think they have some where in the range of 28 miles of paved trails. 
The only negative in my opinion is that because the park is so big it’s not an easy walk to the beach if you are carrying much. Don’t get me wrong, there is plenty of access it’s just not going to be close by. The beach is actually across the hwy from the park. There are plenty of trails &amp; boardwalks you can use to get there. 
We chose to drive simply bc my husband had fishing gear as well as our usual beach essentials. 
We do recommend giving this park a try. We think you’ll enjoy it. 

An unexpected surprise 

We stayed here in October during the annual Shrimp Festival.  The location could not have been more convenient.  We had a pull-thru site with full hook-ups and a water view across the street.  I couldn't have asked for more except maybe some shade.

The park has great, flat bike paths.  Some built over marsh areas.  There is also a nice pool for when you get tired of the beach.  You do have access to the beach, but it's a little bit of a hike from some campsites.  A free pass to the fishing pier comes with your camping fee.  Although we didn't fish, it was fun to people watch.

Even if the Shrimp Festival wasn't going on, there is PLENTY to do here.  Lots of restaurants, bars, beaches, activities, and shopping.  Enough to allow you to do something different every time you come.

We already have reservations for a week during the next Shrimp Fest.  Great campground for beach lovers!

Gulf State Park - Toes in the Sand

So I’ll just say: Great location. Very popular, so plan ahead. Over 400 sites, great amenities, miles of biking and hiking trails.

I was able to snag a Friday night spur of the moment primitive site, I was super excited and was the first time camping there, I was not disappointed. They have a pool that was very nice, the camp store that sells wood closes early due to Covid I presume, and wish there was a sign at check in so I would have rushed over when i first got there instead of waiting too long. The bath houses were nice however 2 showers at the one i used  did not have any water coming out of the shower heads. They do have several bath houses under remodel. Staff was friendly at check in and they allowed me to check in early. :-)

Just Beachy 

This state park has suffered hurricane damage and the bath houses are still under repair except for 4 out of 11 that are still open.  Our site #4 overlooked middle lake and we had great trees at our site.  So much to do here with being in the heart of Gulf Shores and all the activities for all ages here at the campground.  

The best

Stayed here May 2020. This campground takes up many many acres. We had a waterfront site with 30/50 amp, water, and sewer. The site was very spacious, level, with good shade. The amenities were awesome, the best bike riding ever, trails for miles and miles over land and water, huge pool, tennis courts, walking trails,fishing,kayaking etc. the only con I would say is beach access (it’s a haul). Definitely me and my wife’s favorite campground so far.... definitely worth the trip. Also many restaurants and shopping are in close proximity..

Gators, snakes, armadillos and birds reside here.

Best time 

This is easily the biggest and best campground our family has ever stayed in. We’ve been here for 4 days and we haven’t even finished investigating the whole park. The sites are really spacious and pretty level with full hook up. There are lots of things to see and do here like beaches, Civil War historical things, shopping and dining. We are traveling with another family and we have had the best vacation ever. Yesterday we drove over to Pensacola Florida and we watched the Blue Angles practice their air show and it was awesome. This has been wonderful and we are discussing making it an annual destination.

We loved everything about Gulf State Park! We stayed in two spots and both we good. Beautiful large park with tons of amenities. Wildlife at its best and a short walk or bike ride to the beach! Nature center, pool, sports, bike trails, and more!

We stayed at Gulf state park in Gulf Shores , Alabama for
2 nights at site 178, then 
1 night at site 74 ( next to bathrooms and trash) yuck.
This campground is massive, miles and miles of bike trails, and a pool. 
Full hook ups 
Pull through and back in sites.
Well spaced sites, didn’t feel like we were on top of our neighbors. 
5 mins to public parking for the beach  Campground included a free parking pass to the beach parking area.
Extremely well maintained, there was always someone mowing and taking care of landscaping. Staff were all nice. Bathrooms were clean. Pool area was well maintained. 

WALK TO THE BEACH

We stay at this campground 3 to 4 times a year. We enjoy their bike trails they're walking trails the pool the beachfront, literally everything about this campground. When you stay there you also get free walking passes for the pier. We stay here in a pop-up camper and have always gotten good spots, close to bath houses. The place is always clean and the staff is always friendly. This is our go-to campground even though it's a 5-hour drive for us to get there. You will not be disappointed!

Our favorite place to stay

Excellent campground. Lots to do here. About a mile from the Gulf. Parking at beach included in campground fees. Amenities are plentiful. WiFi is acceptable (11 Mbps). 
AT&amp;T Phone signal is good. OTA tv channels are strong and plentiful. 
Very popular campground, make reservations in advance. 

Revisiting this park

Gulf State is our very favorite campground ever.  All of the sites  are spacious with either pull through or back in.  Rates are more than fair.  Only bad thing is you have to book well in advance

Very nice campground, easy access to the beach, miles of walking/biking trails. Onsite camp store. Staff both volunteer and regular are very friendly.

Great Beach destination

There’s so much to do here in the park and surrounding area. I just wish I had more time to spend. 

My Favorite 3

We loved our stay at Gulf St Park Campground- miles of walking/biking trails, clean spacious sites, wildlife, close to the beach. 

Fabulous! 

We've stayed here a month last year, and again this year. Book ahead would be my best recommendation! Our site is on a natural lake (with gators!) and walkable to the beach. Bike trails everywhere.  Restaurant in the park with fire pits,  entertainment.  We only use our vehicle here for site seeing,  otherwise we bike everywhere.  Mobile, AL about an hours drive. 

A month long stop for us

Just a great place to visit...we'll maintained and large lots with full hookups and beautiful sunsets.

Beautiful place!

I stay here every time we visit. The staff is wonderful and the park is stunning. It's wonderful to be able to bike right out onto the trails or the beach from your campsite and the price is amazing. I'm spoiled so I love being able to shower at the end of the day - there were even some froggy 🐸 friends enjoying the shower with me. Wifi is nice too. My only gripe is that I wish there were more primitive campsites, but the RV spots are fine for primitive camping as well.

Best camping ever

We stayed here a week for the Thanksgiving holiday. Definitely a lot of snowbirds here already. Top notch state park. The paved bike trails are phenomenal. Miles and miles of paved trails and wooden boardwalks to explore for hours. Very large campground. Very well kept and maintained. Lots of staff throughout the CG. All sites are paved and have electric, water and sewer. The beach is a good bike ride or short drive away. Beautiful sandy beaches. Firewood is $7.50/bundle. My only complaint is our site (and most) don’t have a traditional fire ring. Not sure what you’d call it, but our site had more of a raised fire/grilling setup. Picture included. Overall…very nice park and CG.

Great State park on coast

Great park. Great park wifi when we hadn't inadvertently turned off at our power box. Amazing trails. People drive too fast in the park, including park employees. Pool was "heated" to 60 degrees when we visited.

Amenities 

Such a great area, with so much to do. Many areas for learning, along with a free tram to visit all areas of the state park. Pier and other areas are free if a campground guest. Laundry facilities are huge and well worth the 40$ a night full hook up price. Our site is so beautiful right on the canal. 

An amazing state park

Beautiful park along the gulf coast and one of the few beach options in Alabama. They have really nice RV and tent camping that has easy access to the gulf as well as tons of walking and biking trails. The campground also has an incredible nature center with so many amazing animals. If you are feeling up for a little adventure you can stay at the backcountry campground accessible via bikes or walking.

Best beach

Awesome bike paths with beautiful scenery. The beach, marshlands and pretty much anywhere else within the park. Woodside Restaurant had a great breakfast.

Large but well maintained & well staffed.

This has got to be one of the nicest, cleanest, and well thought out campground I’ve been too. It is also HUGE, so there are many different site types, but ours was a pull-thru full hookup site. It was an interesting design: you pull off on a little loop parallel to the road and you face away from the road. We really liked it. It was paved with a pad, a grill, and a table. No fire ring, community rings are located throughout the campground. You are never far from a trail that connects you to all of the state park. There are also miles of boardwalk. Bikes are almost a must here to truly see those park, luckily a free bike share is provided. It was a great place! 

Amazing facility right in Gulf Shores

Loved this campground. Paved roads and campsites, large very clean bathrooms and showers, Camp store, pickle ball/tennis courts, huge heated pool and splash park. Boardwalk trails and you can even take one to the beach. Bike rentals, laundry. It has it all!

Best Campground We’ve Visited

Lots of great trails and boardwalks for walking, hiking, and biking. Most sites were “enough room” but, some were tight.

Watch out for the fire ants!

The beach was amazing but, you’ll probably want to drive as the boardwalks are far from most sites.

Two roll-off compactors for the campground located at the dump station near the entrance/exit. If you are not camping in that area you are in for a hike.

Pricy State Park Once Fees and Taxes Added

This is a great place to camp. We have been here several times. It is always clean, the bathrooms are now all repaired from hurricane damage, there are hiking and biking trails and occasionally wildlife.
It is s huge park right on the gulf. They have a fishing pier that is currently closed to finish rebuilding after it was destroyed by a hurricane s few years back. 
The beach is large, but not dog friendly. There us a dog friendly beach a few miles away in Fort Morgan.
Several bathrooms/ showers throughout the park.
Sites are large and level. Most Ruth full hookups. There are a few primitive tent sites.

Always a pleasurable experience 

This was our first visit to Gulf Shores State Park in Alabama.  The check in was as slow as molasses even though they had lots of staff, mostly standing.  Waited in line for 45 minutes with one person ahead of us taking her sweet time to book a future campsite.  Our site was nice, spacious with privacy.  We were worried about the alligators and snakes so kept pups on a short leash.

  

The beach was beautiful, with sandy white shores and lots of shells.  However, if you have dogs, it's a no-go so they have to stay back at the camp.  They do have a lovely dog park, right on the lake where dogs can run and swim, but the 'do not feed alligators' was a concern.  Locals said they had never seen one in 15 years... so not sure and not sure I want my dog to be the exception.

  

We enjoyed the friendly, southern hospitality of the town and would definitely return.  I would investigate other dog friendly places in the area.

These campgrounds areamazing. We have full hookups, wifi, activity center with pool, tennis courts, horseshoes and volleyball. Great hiking and biking trails. 

Amazing park on the water

This is a beautiful state park with lots to do for the kiddos. They have nature trails, a swimming pool, tennis courts, shuffle board and a nature center where you can learn about local wildlife. There are several lakes for fishing. The beach is across the highway from the park, so you have to drive or take the shuttle service - there is a shuttle that runs throughout the park. It is a large park and very spread out. Tons of bathhouses - We did not use so can’t comment on the status. We did see alligators on the nature walk. Super cool. Most of the sites do not have shade, just fyi. ￼the beach had one of those rollout handicap mats so you could get your wheelchair closer to the water. LOVED that!!
