The Cascade Mountains run down the center of Washington like a spine. A handful of highways cross the crest in parallel lines, all running from the evergreens of the west side to the wide open grasslands of the east. Camping in Washington is available along every route, like the state parks that dot I-90 and North Cascades National Park that hugs Highway 20. 


Take Highway 2 over Stevens Pass to find old-growth trees around each spot at Money Creek Campground, plus a view of a classic metal train trestle. Fill each day with hikes through the Cascade forest, perhaps on a stretch of the Pacific Crest Trail where it passes the Stevens Pass Mountain Resort ski area. Head east of Stevens Pass to verdant Lake Wenatchee State Park for wooded campsites near the shores of a placid mountain lake and a stable inside the park offering trail rides through the summer. Sometimes camping in Washington means getting off the beaten track to explore the quiet corners of the state. Take a forest road in Olympic National Park to find a green haven of mossy logs and curious chipmunks, or head north around Mount Baker, the Cascades’ northernmost volcano, for boat-in campsites around Baker Lake. In winter, the snowy expanse of Artist Point near Mount Baker' offers killer views of rugged glaciers for intrepid snow campers and backcountry skiers.


There are spectacular overnights to be had in the Pacific Northwest’s national and state parks, not to mention the remote U.S. Forest Service lands that blanket this corner of the country. Reconnect with nature and the beauty of the Pacific Northwest! This tiny cabin has .5 bath with heat, kitchenette, toilet, private hot tub, Queen and twin bed , sleeper sofa and shared outdoor shower. We are located right at base-camp for Mt Rainier and a stones-throw to small grocery stores and pubs. Private access to the Nisqually River and a 10 minute drive to the entrance of the National Forest. Everything you could want for group camping, a romantic getaway, or climbing/hiking Mt Rainier!

The space

There is currently limited linen service (sheets/blankets/bath towels) provided so please be prepared to bring those items with you (We reflect this in a lower cleaning fee after your stay) . Mattresses, pillows and disposable covers are provided in the lofts. These are tiny cabins on the side of a Mountain so "glamping" is the name of the game! We will send out reminders prior to your stay.

We have a convection oven perfect for small easy cooking, a two burner induction cooktop, microwave, kettle and mini-fridge. There are napkins, paper plates, cutlery and cups.



Guest access

The entrance to the Nisqually River can be found a short walk down the road.

As you exit the driveway of the cabins, take a left. Keep walking a very short distance until you see small entryway on the left side entering the forest. There you will see a faded sign with blue letters that says “Pack it out”. This walk leads you to a fork that breaks into 3 pathways. Take the center route for the easiest path to the river.

Please keep in mind the river changes frequently and consider bringing good shoes to easily traverse rocks and fallen branches. In the early spring it is best to bring shoes you don’t mind getting wet or that you can take off easily.

Once there, if there are no clouds, you can see the summit. It is a beautiful neighborhood secret and probably our favorite part when visiting!

Other things to note:

There is a shared propane heated outdoor shower available. Instructions for use will be sent at check-in.



The Village at Rainier 

Paradise Ridge is a private group campground offering both privacy and proximity, less than one mile from the Nisqually/Paradise entrance to Mount Rainier.

Do you hike? This is your spot. We are so close to the entrance that you won’t have to wait in the agonizingly long line to enter the park.

What about fishing? We have you covered with the Nisqually River less than a mile away and Alder Lake is a quick 15 minute drive.

Is biking your preference? Highway 706 is a popular training ground for road bikers and there are dozens of mountain biking trails within a short drive of the campground.

Or are you just wanting some peace and tranquility? Stop your search, Paradise Ridge offers way more privacy and peacefulness than you will get in any public campground.

Paradise Ridge Private Campground

The Rainier Retreat is .25 acres in Paradise Estates at the base of Paradise of Mount Rainier in Ashford, WA.

\-The Rainier Retreat is less than 5 miles from the entrance of Paradise.

\-Horseback riding is available at E Z Times Horse Rides in Elbe just a 15 minute drive.

\-Enjoy live music and ice cream at The Rainier Basecamp Bar and Grill, just a quick 5 minute drive (check their Facebook for current hours).

\-If you are in to off-roading, ATV, dirt bikes, quads, shooting then visit Elbe Hills, just 13 minutes away.

\-Many hiking trails are available throughout, come see all the beauty of Mount Rainier and the Nisqually River.

\-Lake Holiday and Big Creek are just a few minute walk away. Enjoy the playground, fishing, or jumping off the dock in the summer.

The Rainier Retreat has a hookup for power and water for your camping trailer, or a spout if you would prefer to tent camp. It also has an outhouse on the property that is cleaned weekly. The property is fenced on three sides to give you privacy from neighbors. You are allowed to have a contained bon fire (please check for local burn bans) and there is a wood picnic table and chairs for your usage.

Dogs are welcome! Please be respectful of the neighborhood (and the lot) by cleaning up after them. Please also take your trash with you when you depart!

Tree House Tranquil A Tree - Romantic Escape

## Overview

Walupt Lake Campground offers scenic views of Mt. Adams and the surrounding forest on the west end of Walupt Lake. The sites here provide plenty of privacy and ample shade form the surrounding hemlock, cedar and fir trees.   
  
  
Walupt Lake Campground is a great choice for visitors looking to fish, swim, boat or explore the numerous hiking, biking and horseback riding trails in the area.

## Recreation

Anglers can fish for brook, rainbow and cutthroat trout in Walupt Lake. Swimming and the use of motorized and non-motorized boats is also permitted.   
  
Numerous trailheads can be accessed from this campground. Walupt Lake Trail, Nannie Ridge Trail and Coleman Weedpatch Trail are popular hiking and equestrian trails. 

## Facilities

Walupt Lake Campground offers some tent-only sites, but standard sites have gravel spurs that can accommodate RVs between 20-40 feet. Each walk-in tent site along the lake shore has a small beach area.  
  
  
  
Campsites include picnic tables and campfire rings. Vault toilets are provided on the premises.  
  
  
  
A horse camp is adjacent to this campground.

## Natural Features

Walupt Lake spans 384 acres and is the second largest lake in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. The clear mountain waters are popular with anglers who come here to cast for Rainbow and Cutthroat Trout.   
  
This campground is surrounded by the Goat Rocks Wilderness, named for the rugged peaks where numerous mountain goats are found. Scattered throughout the area are alpine meadows, lakes and ponds. 

## Nearby Attractions

Walupt Lake's location between Mt. Adams, Mt. Rainier and Mount St. Helens makes it possible to explore any of these areas on a day trip.

Walupt Lake Campground

This site has isolated camp sites with roughly 5 acres per site on private land. Some sites are walk in some are drive in. All have pit toilets, fire pit and a small bench. This listing is for site #1 which has drive up access for 4wd vehicles and higher clearance 2wd vehicles. Subarus outback or equivalent are a perfect fit. The property features a seasonal pond and plenty of old logging roads for morning walks.



Three Hills

## Overview

North Fork Elk Group sits alongside the Cispus River in the North Fork Campground, shaded by a dense canopy of pine, fir and cedar trees. The facility is typically open from mid-May through late September, and is one one of three group sites within the campground.   
  
North Fork is situated between three of Washington's most impressive mountains: Mount St. Helens, Mt. Adams and Mt. Rainier. The variety of recreational activities and the diverse natural beauty draws many visitors to this area. 

## Recreation

North Fork Elk Group makes a great base camp for a variety of activities. Hikers, mountain bikers and OHV riders can access the nearby multi-use Valley Trail. From this trail, OHV riders can enjoy a network of over 50 miles of OHV trails.   
  
The North Fork Loop trail is open to foot traffic and can also be accessed in this area.   
  
Anglers can fish the Cispus River for brook trout, steelhead and salmon. 

## Facilities

This tent-only site has six tent pads and will accommodate up to 30 people. It's secluded with gated access and offers picnic tables, grills and drinking water.   
  
There is a host on-site and firewood is available for sale. 

## Natural Features

North Fork is part of the Cowlitz Valley Ranger District, which is located in the northernmost portion of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest.   
  
Located in southwest Washington state, the Gifford Pinchot National Forest encompasses 1.3 million acres and includes the 110,000-acre Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument established by Congress in 1982.   
  
This Ranger District manages four Wilderness Areas including the Goat Rocks Wilderness, Glacier View Wilderness, Tatoosh Wilderness and William O. Douglass Wilderness. Major River drainage includes the Cowlitz River, Clear Fork of the Cowlitz, and the Cispus River.   
  
A variety of wildlife may be spotted in this area, including elk, deer and bears.

North Fork Elk Group Camp

## Overview

Takhlakh Lake Campground sits at an elevation of 4,400 feet in a well-shaded location next to its namesake lake. The campground sits at the base of Mt. Adams, providing visitors with incredible views in every direction. The campground has a short season, but it's a particularly popular destination for hikers exploring the trails around Mt. Adams.

## Recreation

The campsite offers access to the Takhlakh Loop, an accessible trail suitable for all ages and skill levels and the Takhlakh Meadow Trail.   
  
The lake provides an ideal spot for anglers to cast for rainbow trout and for boaters looking to kayak or canoe. The lake is reserved for non-motorized use only. 

## Facilities

The campground consists of 54 back-in sites with unpaved parking spurs that vary in length from 15 to 40 feet. Some sites are tent only.   
  
No drinking water is provided at this campground, but other amenities include vault toilets, picnic tables and campfire rings.   
  
Takhlakh Lake Campground offers accessible sites and activities and amenities that support current accessibility standards. 

## Natural Features

Takhlakh Lake is part of the Cowlitz Valley Ranger District, which is located in the northernmost portion of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest.   
  
This location offers breathtaking views of not only Mt. Adams, but also Mt. Rainier, and Mt. Saint Helens.

Takhlakh Lake Campground

## Overview

Nestled among tall conifers on the Adams Creek Fork of the Cispus River, Adams Fork Campground offers single sites for tent and RV camping, as well as three double sites, with several of the sites sitting along the banks of the river.   
  
  
  
Adams Fork Campground makes an excellent base from which to explore Mount St. Helens and the surrounding area. Nearby multi-use trails offer a myriad of recreational activities, in addition to trout fishing in the Cispus River.

## Recreation

Part of the Randle Recreation Area, Adams Fork Campground is an ideal location for many recreational activities. The Valley Trail network, popular with dirt bikes and ATVs, offers 50 miles of multi-use trails close to this campground.   
  
Hikers, horseback riders and mountain bikers can also use the Valley Trail, which offers views of the Cispus River Valley and Tongue Mountain and anglers can fish for brook trout in the Cispus River. 

## Facilities

This campground consists of 24 paved back in sites, including three double sites that can accommodate 12 to 25 campers. Many of the sites are small but still usable by RVs, with a maximum parking spur length of 30 feet.   
  
  
There are no water or electric hook-ups, but drinking water and vault toilets are provided. Fire rings are provided.   
  
  
Nearby ORV trails, the campground is popular with ORV riders. Campers should expect riders coming and going from the campground.

The Emerald City is one of the Pacific Northwest’s premier cities and a popular place to stop. While the city doesn’t offer many camping or RV options, it’s rich in amenities and is a great visit on your way to any of Washington’s parks.
